Need to wee all the time.. no infection?

For the past 10 days, maybe more. I need to wee all the time. I mean the only relief I get is straight after I've had a wee, and within 5-10 mins I feel like I need to go again. If anything at all is in my bladder it feels like it's full and painful. Doctors tested my urine and it was clear so they were stumped. I have had some symptoms of bloating and some lower tummy pain.
It's exhausting as it's waking me in the night.
Anyone had anything similar?

Pregnant?

noughtiesgirl · 12/10/2022 11:53

@cultkid my boobs are tender so I did wonder, but I haven't had sex since my last period? And I've done a few tests which looked negative..

Do another test
I'm like that when I'm pregnant

noughtiesgirl · 12/10/2022 12:00

I'll go and get some. I'd be around 7 weeks now going by the last time I had sex so surely it would be showing positive by now?

Diabetes? When was last blood panel? Do you have any risk factors?

frazzled101 · 12/10/2022 13:42

Irritable bladder, I've had this flare up in times of stress and there is medication you can go on for a week that settles it down.

I only drink water and decaf tea as things like fizzy drinks or fruit juice set me off.

noughtiesgirl · 12/10/2022 14:09

I've just done a pregnancy test and it was definitely negative. As I say going by the last time I had sex I'd be 7 weeks so you would think it would be showing by now. I've had 2 babies and weeing a lot was never a symptom.

They did test my blood sugar and it was fine.

Did your overactive bladder just start suddenly? I have been stressed.

The dipstick tests and cultures are not accurate. You likely have a uti that is notbbeing picked up. Research chronic uti and embedded uti.

cultkid · 12/10/2022 14:47

I also have an over active bladder
I go the toilet at least twenty times a night
I try to avoid caffeine and tea too

does it hurt at all? X

RoseAndRose · 12/10/2022 14:50

Irritable bladder?

Have you had covid recently? It's more likely to give you issues with skeletal and cardiac muscle, but smooth muscle also possible

frazzled101 · 12/10/2022 14:59

@noughtiesgirl yes started out of the blue during a time when I was working and also doing exams. I was so embarrassed at work, constantly running to the bathroom, that I cried at my doc appointment.

noughtiesgirl · 12/10/2022 15:03

It doesn't hurt when I wee, as in it doesn't burn like a normal urine infection. But my bladder constantly feels full, you know when you really need to wee and it starts to hurt? It feels like that all the time. I haven't had covid from what I'm aware.

It sounds like a uti. They should treat as a uti and prescribe ab, they will probably clear it up.

ChocHotolate · 12/10/2022 15:13

It might be worth asking for a sample to be sent to the laboratory, in case any bugs are present without the usual signs on a dipstick showing up.

Could you try taking a dose of ibuprofen? This can reduce inflammation and if your bladder is irritated the. This may help

cultkid · 12/10/2022 17:21

Sounds like an infection to me op,

I would want them to send urine for a culture

leccybill · 12/10/2022 17:25

Happened to me in July. Dipstick said no infection so I carried on but it got worse. They sent off my sample and it sat in the doctors inbox for 10 days. I finally went back as I was in agony with it and it was an infection. It had gone to my kidneys by then.

tpmumtobe · 12/10/2022 17:29

Could it be an ovarian cyst? They can cause bloating, pain and a constant urge to pee if they squash your bladder. Might also explain the tender boobs. Have you had any spotting/bleeding?

wildthingsinthenight · 12/10/2022 17:31

Perimenopause? The lowering oestrogen levels can cause this. I had it!

doodlyfiddly · 12/10/2022 17:35

As you have children, have you been checked for a prolapse? I have one and it presses on my bladder! 🙄

Choccyp1g · 12/10/2022 17:42

Another vote for ovarian cyst, my main symptom was frequent peeing.

northernlass1988 · 12/10/2022 18:21

How strange I had just landed on uterine prolapse on Google. I have 2 children one was a ventouse birth the other a very quick birth.
I have the copper coil and apparently that can cause cysts?
I've booked for a scan tomorrow just to see, would this pick up on those things?

marmaladepop · 12/10/2022 18:26

My symptoms are exactly the same as yours OP. Eventually saw a urologist and he thinks I have a spasming bladder (GP never mentioned this as a possibility and am not sure if it's the same as an overactive bladder but sounds about the same), so I'm now on a daily tablet called Solifenicin. Gives me a dry mouth solves by chewing gum a lot, but has made life bearable again.

JustFrustrated · 12/10/2022 18:28

Cystocele? My bladder has prolapsed recently. 10 years after my last baby. But it's definitely done it cause my symptoms pointed to it, then doc could feel it

shizzlebizzle · 12/10/2022 18:36

So I had this start randomly one year. I had it in total for around 9 months. In that time I had a camera inside my bladder and loads of tests done, but all negative/normal.

It turned out to be painful/irritated bladder syndrome. Or interstitial cystitis.

Like one of the other posters, I avoid caffeinated tea, juice, cordial and sweeteners. For some reason they still mildly set me off, and it's been years since my last episode.

I found taking buscopan a help, as it relaxes the smooth muscle.

If you don't get any relief, I'd go back to the doctor to get some further testing.
