I am 9 weeks pregnant and have been suffering with sharp abdominal pain, low down on my right side. I have been having general niggles for a few weeks but this intense pain has been going on for about a week now, each day I have been having more and more pains - yesterday I spent the day in bed as they were more frequent.
If I get up without thinking I get a sharp pulling pain, I also get a pain if I cough or sneeze and am caught off guard.
I can't really describe the pain very well, it hurts..... I've been trying to make out it's not too bad to DH as there's nothing he can do but I've found myself in tears over the last 2-3 days. It's almost like a very sharp and quite quick (onlylasts a couple of seconds) pain, like someone poking a hot sharp needle into my tummy.

I'm due to be booking in with my midwife on Thursday, I can't get in before then as she is only at the surgery on a Thursday.

I haven't had any shoulder pain - well I have slightly but I think maybe I was imagining it to be worse than it was after reading the shoulder pain is a symptom.
I am very light headed, I feel faint getting up out of a chair, walking up stairs etc

Hoping for the best outcome. You wouldn't have settled without knowing and with a bit of luck you'll be home in a couple of hours and you can relax. Best of luck xx

orangehead · 31/12/2007 17:23

FoghornLeghorn · 31/12/2007 18:11

Well yep .... you all panicked me for no reason My baby is alive and kicking and in the right place .
I have a scanned booked for Monday so they can do a detailed scan of my ovaries to see if there is anything there that shouldn't be to try and explain the pain. TBH, I couldn't care less about te pain now I know my baby is OK.

Thank you all for pushing me to go - I feel 1million% better now

Fantastic news! And didn't they pull out all the stops this time, when you knew your rights! That was really quick.

So sorry that we did panic you, but better to be safe than sorry. A lot of us know the heartache of it and hate to think that anyone else would have to go through it.

Anyway, its all good! Fab!

Very, very, VERY happy new year to you and yours! xx

good work chaps

whomovedmychocolate · 31/12/2007 18:51

Foghornleghorn - glad you are okay. I was rushed to casualty six weeks into my first pregnancy with massive pains - I thought I maybe had appendicitis. But it was an internal tear of the stitches from the laporoscopy I'd had a few months previously for infertility investigations. So there can be benign reasons.

However I had a scan today so I know it's possible to get a scan on New Year's Eve.

FlllightAttendant · 31/12/2007 18:58

Oh fabfabfab! Now I can uncross.

Aitch · 31/12/2007 19:04

i had that too, i thought i was DYING. i was flat on the ground, couldn't move or breathe properly and had to get my terrified neice to get dh. they said it was possibly adhesions or a scar tearing internally. bbbrrrrrrr.

Tutter · 31/12/2007 19:08

excellent news
