Hi, I have been left with a sentile pile/ skin tag on my anus after a fissure I had years ago. I want it go so badly it’s causing me a lot of distress. I can feel it a lot and I have problems with hygiene. It has also stopped me getting intimate with anyone. I can’t take it anymore it’s ruining me. I have visited private clinics who try to charge me £1000 I can’t afford this. Is there no way at all my my gp can remove this. I know they usually don’t because it’s cosmetic. But I can’t cope anymore I came home and sobbed because I feel like there’s no hope. Has anyone else suffered with this. Please help

Great news everyone! Doc rang me today and agreed we would be able to do it under local, I am so thrilled, just waiting for a date now. He said it might not be until December but I’m just so glad to be getting it sorted out either way:)

@Belleangel22 - was lurking in your thread. I have the same problem! How did you operation go? Hope you're feeling ok.

Belleangel22 · 11/12/2021 17:04

@MissOrganisedMe hi! It went really well, was in and out in less than an hour. My recovery has been very well, no pain. Most annoying thing is the smell and just having to keep cleaning throughout the day. But nearly 10 days post and hopefully it only gets better from here

Ah, that's great news @Belleangel22! The smell? I'll perhaps think about doing something with mine. They're quite extreme though. Like you say, hygiene can be an issue and there can often be an itch.

Tell them about the hygiene and throw in 'painful'

Belleangel22 · 12/12/2021 23:22

Yeah there’s a strange smell! Others have mentioned also, I’m guessing because if the area and it was an open wound. It’s slowly starting to disappear now though. But yes I highly recommend getting it done. Cost £480 for me to get it done then a little extra for it being sent off to lab etc. I haven’t had as such a terrible experience as I have seen others talk about. I’m so glad I did it:)

The NHS will fund this if you shout loud enough - don't let them fob you off. You are clearly distressed and need an deserve healthcare.
