Panicking - Could I be pregnant?

May be TMI but need some advice,

My periods returned after having DD when she was 6 weeks old. 1st one lasted a week which was fine, 28 days later had another which lasted a week. DP and i then managed full sex for the first time a few days later which led to me bleeding for a full week afterwards.
Now, i was due to start my period 22nd October and nothing has happened.

I am on the mini pill and i know my periods could be irregular from having DD but considering that the first 2 were every 28 days do you think its possible i am pregnant?

Thanks in Advance

SC x

But you'd only had 2 28 day cycles - that's not enough to say that it was established is it? (I'm trying to be positive - am I helping?)

SpringChicken · 01/11/2004 09:54

This is why i am so confused fisil! Should i just wait it out and hope that it arrives soon?

Hi SC. The mini pill can make you periods irregular as well - so I wouldn't worry too much just yet, but would suggest doing a PG test for your own peace of mind atm - Boots own brand/First Response tend to be pretty good. i have heard that some (lucky?) women find that their periods stop on the mini pill. If you have been taking the mini pill properly then its pretty unlikely (but unfortunately not 100% impossible that you are PG).

twoforone · 01/11/2004 09:59

Have you missed a mini-pill SpringChicken, or took one late?
I am no expert, but i believe you have to take the mini-pill at near enough exactly the same time each day.
You probably know this anyway, but obviously you are more likely to be if you took one late.

Tessiebear · 01/11/2004 10:02

I would think you would be fine Had exactly the same thing when on the mini pill - a scare every month. Took 2 years to get regular monthly periods.

Hulababy · 01/11/2004 10:02

I started taking the full pill after my 6 week check after having had DD. I hadn't had a 'proper' period before then. The first 2 or 3 months I had very light bleeding in the 7 days off pill. But after that I went about a year or more without any bleeding at all. I did spend most months panicking a bit, and spent too much on tests to be dsure! My periods suddenly started again the day after I moved house, a year or so later! Went to the doctors too, and he said that it is quite normal for some women to not bleed whilst taking the pill.

I am not sure if all this is relevant to taking the mini pill, but hope it is of some use.

SpringChicken · 01/11/2004 10:07

Thanks All - haven't missed a pill but did take one about 7 hours late but that was a few days ago so wont be relevant.

I dont think i am pregnat - i knew last time and i dont have any symptoms this time.
Gosh, how unlucky would that be - getting pregnant on the first go after giving birth 15 weeks earlier! Sounds like just my luck actually

I do have a friend who got pg on the mini-pill v soon after her first baby - you're very fertile, apparently!

Tessiebear · 01/11/2004 10:31

I actually stopped ovulating whilst on the mini-pill and i find it hard to understand how taking one a few hours late is suddenly going to make you ovulate??

MummyToSteven · 01/11/2004 10:33

tessiebear - the issue for most women taking the mini-pill isn't ovulation. the idea behind the mini-pill isn't that it stops you ovulating - but some women, like you, don't ovulate when taking it, but that it would stop a fertilised egg implanting - that's why taking it a few hours late can be a problem for most women who take it, as they don't consistently stop ovulating, but have to rely on the mini-pills other contraceptive effects.

Tessiebear · 01/11/2004 10:36

Thanks MummytoSteven - always wondered about that so what you are saying is that for some mini-pill users the egg can be fertilised each month (if there are sperm around during that time) and the pills effects just stops the fertilised egg from implanting into the uterus walls?

MummyToSteven · 01/11/2004 10:38

yep tessiebear!

SpringChicken · 01/11/2004 11:03

On a clear blue preg test (not digital) what does it mean when you have a horizontal line in the big box and a vertical line in the little box?

OP posts:
fisil · 01/11/2004 19:46

erm, dodgy test? fell over while reading it? Have you scoured the paperwork that comes with and rung the number they provide?

SpringChicken · 01/11/2004 19:47

No paperwork - it was one left over from a twin pack i had from testing when pg with DD!

HELP!!!!!

Start a thread asking if anyone has instructions from a clearblue test

It sounds as though the result is invalid.
