... and why do you take it?

I'm late 50s and have been taking vitamin D, and thinking about magnesium but I'm skeptical about such things.

Wondered about the thoughts of others...?

I take vitamin D and K2 and also a supplement called Lumity which although pricey, is excellent

ShowMeTheWayToAmarillo · 04/02/2021 20:13

Vitamin D and zinc at the moment

ShowMeTheWayToAmarillo · 04/02/2021 20:14

Taking Vitamin D because I am not going out. Zinc because it is linked to immunity and need all the help we can at the moment

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 04/02/2021 20:17

High strength vit d, magnesium and Sambucol

Throughhistory · 04/02/2021 20:25

High dose magnesium glycinate for pain, high dose B12 for neuropathic pain, turmeric as an anti inflammatory, Co Q10 for migraines, D3 for immunity.

SingToTheSky · 04/02/2021 20:29

Ultra strength vitamin D (vitabiotics brand)

Ferroglobin iron which has a B vitamin added

I frequently have low levels of both iron and vit D on blood tests, I could take the prescribed iron tablets but I turned them down as they always give me a dodgy tummy.

I also take vitamin C with zinc, magnesium and the equazen omega three as I did a trial for MN and did find them helpful even on top of my ADHD meds

RupertTheBear89 · 04/02/2021 21:22

@Throughhistory do you mind me asking if you find the b12 helps much with the neuropathic pain?

StepOutOfLine · 04/02/2021 21:26

I'm 55 and my gynaecologist and GP told me to take magnesium and vitD. I also take a B complex and acidophilus pro-biotic (gallbladder issues)

Cornishmumofone · 04/02/2021 21:35

B complex and iron (I'm an anaemic vegetarian) + D + Magnesium

poshme · 04/02/2021 21:49

Of course I don't mind Smile Yes I think it has helped. Difficult to quantify, but I no longer need to take gabapentin. I've given up a job that was exacerbating symptoms which will of course have made a difference, but think it has really helped.

RupertTheBear89 · 04/02/2021 22:56

@Throughhistory thanks for the reply! That's great you managed to stop taking the gabapentin. My gp wants to put me on amitriptyline for pain but would rather try something a little less heavy duty if possible. Will definitely order some b12!

Jellykat · 04/02/2021 23:06

Vit D, B12 and occasionally high strength C when i feel i need it.
I cant take probiotics in tablet form, so i eat live yoghurt every morning.

kissmelittleass · 05/02/2021 21:12

I take Vitamin D with vitamin K, vitamin C with Zinc and spatone liquid 2-3 times a week as I'm vegetarian and I'm always slightly aneamic and can't tolerate the tablets.

Starrr123 · 16/02/2022 23:24

rocksonrocks · 16/02/2022 23:32

Comprehensive multivit

Omega 3&6
Magnesium

Ashwaghanda
Evening primrose oil
Fenugreek
Saw palmetto

I rotate these and don’t take each every single day.

rocksonrocks · 16/02/2022 23:39

Oh and inositol for ovulation/PCOS

Esspee · 17/02/2022 01:16

I don't take supplements as I have an excellent varied diet. I never catch colds or flu and don't believe I have had covid.

How are you getting Vit D? It’s quite a difficult one to get from diet and sun alone. What foods would you recommend?
480Widdio · 17/02/2022 01:54

Vitamin D
Zinc
Vitamin B
Magnesium

Green lipped mussel.

MinnieJackson · 17/02/2022 05:25

Max strength vitamin D - as an aside everyone in my household (7 of us) has had covid over the past couple of years, my ds9 currently has it and I've never caught it. Only had one jab (not an antivaxxer) but I've taken this dose pre pandemic, could be linked.
Magnesium for back pain
Vit D3

rocksonrocks · 17/02/2022 10:25

Even with a varied diet you could still be missing out on key nutrients eg Vit D as pp said.

Fruit and veg has lost so much of its nutrient potency in the last few decades due to GMO seeds etc so even if you're eating a varied diet it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re getting all of the nutrients and micronutrients that you need.

Besides which, you comment has nothing of value to add to a thread asking about what supplements people take!

MissManagable · 17/02/2022 10:27

Considering taking the Gaia gummies after reading the Bradley Walsh thing!
