Sorry in advance for my toe pics. BUT.. my toes are soooo sore, swollen and itchy. Its horrible and so painful. Anyone have any idea what these could be. These are toes from different feet.

Chilblains?

Tarararara · 03/12/2020 18:30

Covid toes.

weemidden · 03/12/2020 18:30

? Chilblains.

BurningGubbins · 03/12/2020 18:31

I’ve got this at the moment too and have self-diagnosed chilblains. I feel like the Little Matchgirl.

Ad3laid3 · 03/12/2020 18:31

I had similar to these on my toes (and hands) when I caught hand foot and mouth from my lovely dd! They were very sore.

Madbengalmum · 03/12/2020 18:32

Op, foot specialist here, you are describing Chilblains. You definitely don’t have covid toe. There is a product called snowfire that works very well for this condition.

Dashie · 03/12/2020 18:33

I’d second Covid toes.

Madbengalmum · 03/12/2020 18:34

Please stop mentioning covid toes, this is NOT Covid toe.

AstridAv · 03/12/2020 18:34

I was thinking chillblains. Never had them before. Don't even really know what they are. How do you fix them? Close to chopping them off at this point.
They seem to hurt more and more as the day goes on.
I'm sorry you have them too @burningGubbins they're awful!

I doubt covid toes have no symptoms of covid nor do any of the household.

Please read my posts OP.

CottonSock · 03/12/2020 18:36

Chill blains. Had as a kid and it's horrid

1stDecember · 03/12/2020 18:37

Sore and itchy? Chilblains.

CottonSock · 03/12/2020 18:37

Well, don't put them in ice water which is what my mum caught me doing as a kid. I'd got them from going in frosty garden with bare feet. The smelly ointment is what you need.

Heyahun · 03/12/2020 18:42

Yeah chilblains - but could Be Covid tows - my toes were like this for 2 weeks and then I got Covid so either a coincidence or it was Covids very first symptom

Wbeezer · 03/12/2020 18:45

Pile ointment is supposed to work on chilblains if you have some lurking in the bathroom cabinet, DS3 is suffering atm (trainers with mesh fabric +scottish weather not a good combo).

AstridAv · 03/12/2020 18:48

Thanks very much @Madbengalmum I've ordered some im looking at about a week for delivery. Is there any tips to help in the meantime?
Yes SUPER sore and itchy. But feel all swollen and gross when I itch them. Want to pull them off. My goodness.
I have health anxiety so ill accept chillblains rather than civid toes.. seems unlikely to me.

Thanks everyone. Again so sorry about the toes!

Def chilblains

Madbengalmum · 03/12/2020 18:51

No problem, best tip is no extremes of temperature on them, it will cause further pain if hot water/cold water on them. Keep warm, thick socks, avoid damp. And keep alcohol and caffeine to a minimum.
Ibuprofen or paracetamol are your best help atm. Hope this helps x

olympicsrock · 03/12/2020 18:52

We can’t see with these pictures . Perhaps post some more showing the whole foot and a few different angles I am also a foot specialist. I don’t agree I’m afraid Madbengalmum. I think you have to consider Covid Toes on anyone who may have Chillblaines at the moment.

Happyoldbat · 03/12/2020 18:52

Commiserations. Here is my own cure for chilblains: if you get them, don’t scratch but wear socks 24 hours a day (take them off only to change them) and do not put your feet in the bath or walk around on cold floors without slippers. The aim is to keep your feet at as constant a temperature as possible for a few days, which really seems to help them heal quickly. Try it - if it doesn’t work, at least it won’t have cost you anything.

Airplanes · 03/12/2020 18:53

I had them the last 2 years. Do your feet go numb easily? I wear thermal socks all the time and stopped wearing boots with a heel as every day shoes as that can restrict blood flow. Haven't had one this year so far but also invested in furry lined boots. Also furry lined slippers on at home

Madbengalmum · 03/12/2020 18:53

Plus, as i say, too much info to impart, but i deal with patients with covid toe alot at the moment and it is not that.

Madbengalmum · 03/12/2020 18:57

Olympic, every case of covid toe i have seen or referenced has been on a full set of toes. Not selected digits as chilblains. This information was also in all of the research studies. OP has chilblains.

AstridAv · 03/12/2020 19:00

Left foot (this is by far the worst) affected toe is the one next to the smallest.

OP posts:
AstridAv · 03/12/2020 19:01

Right foot. Again only one toe affected.
