Relentless Fanny Farts/Queefs ruining my life

HorridFannyFartsRuiningMyLife · 03/12/2020 15:07

A few months ago I started fanny farting more than usual. It was quite funny to begin with and is now so frequent - up to 30 queefs a day. This happens a lot when I go from sitting to standing and from lying down to standing up. I am so very windy and it's coming out of my poor vagina. They don't smell. I have spoken to my GP who doesn't know what it could be and seems perplexed by it. She is physically examining me next week. I fanny fart so frequently and loudly and it's awful. I currently work from home so it hasn't been an issue with other people hearing it but I start work next week in the office and I don't know what to do! My tummy is very gurgly too.
The internet hasn't been much help. The GP has ruled out a fistula. I'm really worried. Has anyone else had this happen?

Is it a dryness thing? Could you need some validem? a don't know how old you are!
Have you lost or put on weight?

WishingHopingThinkingPraying · 03/12/2020 15:21

I'd be tempted to wear a tampon if I had to be around people as an emergency fix!

OptimisticSix · 03/12/2020 15:22

I was going to suggest a mooncup might help.

TheProvincialLady · 03/12/2020 15:27

How is your pelvic floor?

HorridFannyFartsRuiningMyLife · 03/12/2020 18:31

I'm 42. Nothing unusual has happened in terms of weight or lifestyle. My pelvic floor seems fine and I do daily exercises. I had my only child 2 years ago by c-section with no issue. This fanny farting has crept up and is so frequent. I will have to try a tampon for work. It's as if there is an air leak of some sort somewhere that then comes out of my vagina. So odd.

This sounds most unpleasant OP and you have my sympathy but please don't wear a tampon regularly if you're not on your period - it's not good for you.

Hi I'm just wondering how your GP can rule out a fistula without any testing?? I'm currently being investigated to rule out a fistula, I have also had the fanny farting but only a handful of times over the last few months so no where as frequent as you and I've had a sigmoidoscopy, a cystscopy, a CT scan with intravenous dye and am awaiting a colonoscopy and a gastro enema to fully rule it out as no fistula was seen on tests already done.
Have you any other symptoms? Have you noticed any debris/ bubbles in your urine at all at any time?
I just feel your GP needs to sort some tests for you and not guess!

Ritascornershop · 03/12/2020 22:49

Wow! I had these symptoms about 18 months ago and didn’t see a dr (primarily from embarrassment, partly because I thought they’d fob me off as so often happens). I thought it was dietary and basically ate only Miso soup with tofu for two weeks and it got better. Now I’m wondering what it was! It had gone on for about 2 years prior to the miso soup.

sadie9 · 04/12/2020 00:46

Is it better after a bowel movement? Or the same all day? If so your bowel might be slightly prolapsed so when it is full of stool or air it pushes into the vaginal wall.
Examine yourself standing up before you have a bowel movement and see if you can feel any bulges in the vagina.

felineflutter · 04/12/2020 00:51

Erm anyone? Hmm

Tambourina · 04/12/2020 18:32

How did the dr rule out fistula? Did you have colonoscopy and MRI?

It sounds like you have a fistula to me.

HorridFannyFartsRuiningMyLife · 04/12/2020 21:02

I think it's most likely to be a fistula from doing further reading. I'll update you once I've had my visit to the GP.

@HorridFannyFartsRuiningMyLife any update op?

HorridFannyFartsRuiningMyLife · 22/12/2020 08:16

It's a suspected fistula. I have a hospital appointment with consultant in early Jan. It's really grim. The condition has progressed to occasional urinary incontinence, recurring UTIs and worst of all weird brown discharge (Could well be poo, but doesn't smell like poo) coming out of my poor vagina. I feel really dirty and unclean all the time. I now wear Tena lady pads. It's getting me down quite badly. Hopefully the hospital appointment will lead to a treatment plan or something in the way of resolving things.

@HorridFannyFartsRuiningMyLife aww I'm sorry to hear that but I'm going through the same if it helps. I had occasional fanny burps! but probably only happened maybe 6-7 times over a few months, I also had brown discharge on wiping after a wee a few times but like you doesn't smell like poo tmi!!
I noticed bubbles in my urine on and off for months, just small fizz bubbles not big ones but I mentioned to my doctor during the summer who just said oh it's debris!
Anyway I ended up in hospital in October with a very nasty uti and because I mentioned the bubbles straight away they were on about a fistula so I had a CT with contrast dye of abdomen which showed a impacted bowel, a cystscopy which was normal and a sigmoidoscopy which showed diverticula bit no fistula seen on any of those tests thank god.
I now have a colonoscopy first week of January to check for a fistula and will also need a gastro enema to rule a fistula out.
They did say it was a major operation if it shows a fistula so I'm praying they don't find anything hope the same for you.
Have you had any tests done at all? Or have they mentioned diverticula to you?

HorridFannyFartsRuiningMyLife · 22/12/2020 19:02

I have my first appointment with a specialist in early Jan. The GPs seem to both suspect a fistula. I haven't had any tests yet, no. @kissmelittleass I really wish you a full return to optimum health and a speedy recovery. Experiencing these symptoms is really worrying.

kissmelittleass · 22/12/2020 19:52

@HorridFannyFartsRuiningMyLife Thanks, it is very worrying and of course I googled as you do and scared myself so I'm keeping away from any info from the internet now!
Let me know how you get on in January wishing you good health.

HorridFannyFartsRuiningMyLife · 22/12/2020 20:00

Yes, let me know how you get on. Feel free to DM if you'd prefer.

Hi op hope you're ok, how did you get on with your appointment this month? Hope it went well for you.

HorridFannyFartsRuiningMyLife · 22/01/2021 22:47

I have a CT scan booked for 1st Feb. The consultant gynae had a look and couldn't see anything so booked me in for the CT scan. The fanny farts have calmed down quite a bit since I started drinking kefir. Still have them but nowhere near as frequent. I still think it might be a fistula though.
How did you get on kissmelittleass?

@kissmelittleass

kissmelittleass · 23/01/2021 00:45

@HorridFannyFartsRuiningMyLife Glad to hear it's being investigated for you now, good luck with the CT scan!
I had a colonoscopy two weeks ago and was only given a quick briefing after as they do and he just said very good, I was slightly drowsy but did ask him if any fistula was seen and I believe he said that he didn't see one.
I should be seen at the colorectal outpatient clinic hopefully soon but with lockdown who knows!
So I've had a CT scan with contrast dye, a cystscopy, a sigmoidoscopy and a colonoscopy all revealing no sign of a fistula? I was told I would need a gastro enema too at my outpatient appointment back in early December so that is the last test I'm scheduled for, haven't heard anything about an appointment for that yet though.
I'm getting so many bubbles in my urine and yesterday was really scaring me every time I went to the toilet there was lots.
I've just finished a course of antibiotics for a UTI my second in two and a half months
Fed up of all this it's getting me down!
Good luck with the CT op.

kissmelittleass · 23/01/2021 00:45

@Tambourina Thank you 😊
