Strange smelling penis

Smellyrichard · 25/09/2020 14:27

Hi, promise I’m not a troll but this feels more health issue than sex topic.
My dh has had a problem with a strange smell around his penis area for around 4 years.
It seems to be around the head area and all I can compare it to is a fishy smell. It’s really starting to affect our sex life and his confidence in general.
So far we’ve tried...
He has always showered/bathed at least once a day, he has increased this to 2 times but made no difference
Used ph sensitive wash
Had swabs/Sti check - all clear
Gp referred him to urologist who checked with a small camera for bladder infections etc
Investigated for trimethylaminuria (searched the issue on mumsnet and that was something someone else had)
Tried thrush creams
Currently trying antibiotics as the gp is now at a loss as to what it could be
Possibly tried other stuff I’ve forgotten.

It’s bizarre as it can be there one time we check then possibly stronger 1/2 hour later then an hour after it’s gone.
The only thing we can think that possibly could be a factor is he sweats a huge amount.
I know that people may come on to suggest he’s cheating or whatever but I’m 100% that he’s not.
We are so stuck with what to do, the gp is stuck and so I’ve suggested asking on here and we are now at the point of what else can we do.
Thanks for any possible suggestions.

Oh come on. SmellyWilly gets deleted and SmellyRichard pops up? (In a manner of speaking...).
What are the chances?

StephenKong · 25/09/2020 17:08

If this is deleted I expect SmellyDick will be with us shortly.

Smellyrichard · 25/09/2020 17:08

Out of curiosity what grounds was I reported on? Seeking advice for a health issue and purposefully leaving sex issues out Hmm
Why come onto this thread if you have no advice do you just trawl threads to report people you weirdo??

Oh my god this is crazy - I got my dh to pick a user name as I refused to use my real one.
I’m currently on Christmas threads, uni ones so am happy to be verified that I have never posted this before.
See you back here soon for the apology.

Maybe BV although I’m unsure if men can get it. I used to get it bad and was worse after sex. If he goes GP he may be prescribed specific antibiotics.
Hope you both get it sorted Flowers

@Smellyrichard

Asked doctor about circumcision a year or so ago but was told it’s changed so now has to meet certain criteria to get one

That's only if he has it done in the NHS. He can go private and frankly he would be better advised to go to a specialist circumcision clinic if he wants to have it done

Azif · 25/09/2020 17:15

Ignore @StephenKong. Not sure what their problem is but the responses are beyond unhelpful.

IdblowJonSnow · 25/09/2020 17:16

If hes super sweaty botox can help with that? You could see if that makes a difference to the other issue?

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 25/09/2020 17:20

Hello everyone. While we can't ever vouch for anyone, the OP has been with us for several years now with a normal posting history. We can't see any connection between @Smellyrichard and the recent smelly willy troll.

MashedSweetSpud · 25/09/2020 17:20

Sorry but your username is making me laugh.

We’ve had garbage smelling penises, fish and chip smelling penises and now a fish smelling penis.

Have you ever thought to invest in a penis beaker?

Smellyrichard · 25/09/2020 17:20

@Azif

Ignore *@StephenKong*. Not sure what their problem is but the responses are beyond unhelpful.
Thank you so much I was quite upset at being accused of lying. I swear this is genuine and was a last resort asking here. I’m trying to type on here, not miss Christmas bargains, make kids tea & tidy up- hardly doing it for fun to keep me entertained

If he needs to wee 'a huge number of times a day', that indicates diabetes almost 100% of the time. I'd be asking for a urine test and an actual diabetes fasting test. Does he drink a lot of water or is he thirsty a lot?

gamerchick · 25/09/2020 17:27

Has he had his pee tested for nasties?

I thought diabetes but if he's a gum bunny I'd wonder if he was overdoing the protein or something. Peeing lots should be investigated

gamerchick · 25/09/2020 17:27

*gym

Kalula · 25/09/2020 17:27

It could also be from him needing to pee so much. The more you pee, the more it makes you smell down there. So it seems to be somehow linked to the urine.

Dillydallyingthrough · 25/09/2020 17:27

I was told by my GP (and Google) that men couldn't get it or pass it on but the nurse was the one who mentioned it, she was vet annoyed that no-one had suggested it! Like I said it worked for us, but that could be coincidental!

Dillydallyingthrough · 25/09/2020 17:28

*very

Palavah · 25/09/2020 17:29

He shouldn't need to scrub it!

missmouse101 · 25/09/2020 17:30

Try a different laundry powder?

jeezlooise · 25/09/2020 17:31

How about trying those new boxers I've seen advertised?
They have an almost pouch to separate the meat from the veg.
People swear they are incredibly comfortable.
Might help the sweating issue? I'll find a link!
