Please forgive the namechange but i have no choice as so many of you know me, both in rl and here.

Ok please forgive and if you don't want TMI please do not read further.........

I was in the bath this evening and washing myself and while washing my lady parts (sorry but i don't know a term less crass) and just right to my cl*t i have a small pea size lump I am scared senseless the worst things are going through my head and i can't stop crying. Please help as i don't know what the hell to do It didn't hurt until this evening and now i know its there its started to be a little sore and is rubbing. I had thrush from a course of penicillin two weeks ago but that cleared up with the fluxo (sp?) and cream. I'm sure this lump was not there yesterday and all i can think is this is serious God please help me i can't breathe for crying. How am i going to tell people?

don't panic there is a gland down there that can easily get infected. You will be fine, antibiotics will sort it I'm sure....let me google......

pyjamagirl · 01/10/2007 20:00

Are you due on or just finished I get these lumps every month it;s due to hormonal changes in me
I would get it checked out though

hope all is well take care

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 01/10/2007 20:00

can you get a mirror and have a look? it could be just a spot, an inflamed hair follicle.

get yourself to the GP to have a look. there is no need to tell other people untill its checked out.

brimfull · 01/10/2007 20:00

bartholins cyst

Charlee · 01/10/2007 20:00

Ok, fisrt off calm down.

It could easily be a cyst, spot or anything i had one similar a while back and it was a harmless cysit that went away within days.

Go to your g.p and get it checked, which i know can be embarassing but worth it to put your mind at reat.

Have a virtual hug x

BecauseImWorthIt · 01/10/2007 20:01

Don't worry - you can often get sebaceous cysts like this. Probably nothing to worry about - just like a bit spot!

But of course if you're worried, go and see your GP.

LoveMyGirls · 01/10/2007 20:01

Don't panic yet (ok easier said than done i know!!) But it could be anything no need to assume the worst. If it is still there tomorrow (and lets be fair if it has come up this quickly it could go down just as quick) make an appt to see your gp, best to get it checked out. It is probably a swollen gland or something, our bodies are odd things and it's probably nothing to worry about.

Carmenere · 01/10/2007 20:02

Oh love, relax, it is bound to be a node or a cyst or something else prefectly innocuous. you will be fine

DirtyGertiefromnumber30 · 01/10/2007 20:02

scaredandsore, please dont panic until youve had it checked. I sometimes get small lumps in that area that just disappear after a few days. Get an emergency appointment tomorrow but pleeease dont worry until youve seen a GP.

IOnlyPoppedOutForAFewDays · 01/10/2007 20:07

Hey, big hug! I'm sorry I'm no expert, so all I can do is give you a bit of support. But it's possible that it's just a wart. I've had one or two crop up there every once in a while for years. I've never seen a doc about it (I once mentioned it to one and she was cr*p) and I've been fine, so it is really possible that it's nothing too much to worry about - mine get sore with rubbing or scratching but otherwise they're ok so I've never been too bothered about treatment.

But like I said, I'm no expert, so maybe book an appointment to get it checked out and set your mind at rest. But honestly, it may well not be anything like as bad as you're thinking. So pour yourself a large drink .

scaredandsore · 01/10/2007 20:08

I am so scared and i can't tell DH. It doesn't sound like that cyst you linked me too as its not on the lips its inside iyswim (i'm so sorry to be so vulgar ) What the hell do i tell GP? I have never been so scared before

IOnlyPoppedOutForAFewDays · 01/10/2007 20:08

Just read the other posts - they all know way more than me, so mine were possibly cysts or the follicle thing too.

scaredandsore · 01/10/2007 20:09

Wart??? Oh my God does that mean a STD???? I have been with DH for three years does that mean he has cheated or that if he finds out will think i hsve?

Mercy · 01/10/2007 20:11

I had a Bartholin's cyst as per ggirl's post - I had no pain or anything - in fact it was spotted when I ws being stitched up after giving birth.

Several years earlier I also had an abcess which hurt like fuck after a couple of days. It was almost caused by an ingrowing hair. Anti-biotics, warm baths and hot-water bottles sorted it out. (it started as a tiny pea just inside the outer labia)

Are you ok?

LoveMyGirls · 01/10/2007 20:11

Calm down, if you're really worried try ringing nhs direct or have a look on here

SharpMolarBear · 01/10/2007 20:12

dont panic and stop apologising, you can't tell us without giving us the info
Get yourself to a doc in the morning. I bet it will be nothing, and even given the tiny chance it is something you have caught it straight away. Not that i think it will be at all, but i know how easy it is to worry

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 01/10/2007 20:14

Scared.. calm down.. it's probably is a sebacious cyst.. that's what I was going to say. They are very common.

Cancerous lumps don't just appear overnight like that.

It's bound to be something easily treated. Google pictures of gential warts.. I doubt it looks like one of those either.

Why would you want to tell people? They don't want to know about a bump on your fanjo! Just tell your GP who will be bored senseless he sees so many per month, but will politely not show it.

elesbells · 01/10/2007 20:16

it could be a number of things.

you said you had thrush so you could have scratched yourself in your sleep.

do you shave down there? it could be a shaving spot

it could be a bite

it could be a cyst

it could be a gland (pre af?)

if it was an STD you would have lots of lumps im sure. do you have any sudocrem? put some on. calm down, if its still there in a day or so and you're still worried go to the doctor. good luck have a hug {{{}}} and breathe!

IOnlyPoppedOutForAFewDays · 01/10/2007 20:20

Oh God, no! I really did not mean to suggest that it might be STD at all, and I'm really really sorry if that's what you thought. So please, please don't panic. Take a huge deep breath and calm down. Like ShinyHappy says, it's probably benign as things don't just crop up overnight.
But can you really not talk to your DH about it? It might help?

princessmel · 01/10/2007 20:24

My friend had a lump down there before too. She was very worried and went to the doctors who examined it for her. It turned out just to be a fatty deposit. Go to the gps to put your mind at rest.

scaredandsore · 01/10/2007 20:35

Thank you all I think a trip to GP then

SlightlyMadSweden · 01/10/2007 20:41

Agree with all that has been said - probably a cyst of some desription. One of the key things that I see in your post is that you say

"I'm sure this lump was not there yesterday". If this is the case it is likely to be fairly inoculus. Tumours (if thats what you are thinking) don't go from nothing to pea sized overnight - but cysts do.

The other way to distinguish between a cyst an a more sinister tumour is that the cyst will normally be fairly free and not attatched to the underlying tissue if you try and move it. Tumours IIRC tend to be stuck well to the tissue below and you can't move them at all. This is really difficult to explain - I'm sorry.

Tutter · 01/10/2007 20:44

don't worry

post childbirth i had several of these delightful mystery lumps

they went away in a few days

were diagnosed as either sebacious cysts or labial piles (mm mm mmmm) from the pressure of childbirth

mine were ont he shiny bit inside the labia

doc had a good look - don't worry they've seen iut all before

lucyellensmum · 01/10/2007 21:11

Poor you! it is scary but i truly believe nothing to worry about. Everyone has given some really good advice but you wont feel better until you go to the GP. We all get lumps and bumps, i have a lovely skin tag there, doesn't look very nice but hey. I also had a similar pea size lump on my shoulder blade, i was hysterical (as you are) went to the doc, she said, dont worry, im sure its a cyst, it went, it came back, it went again. It was a cyst im sure. I have also had lots of lumps on the wall of my vagina - again, i was really worried. Went to my doctor, she had a good look with a speculum and a torch (nice!) and it turned out they were mucous retention cysts. Very common and nothing to worry about, they come and go. Looking back, they were pea sized or a bit smaller, cant say what they looked like though as im not a contortionist.

dont be embarrased about going to the doctor, they have seen it all, and then some. You can specify a female doctor if that helps and/or ask for a chaperone.

Get some sleep, go in the morning, you'll be fine, i promise.

lucyellensmum · 01/10/2007 21:13

oh and genital warts tend to be smaller, and well, like warts
