Please forgive the namechange but i have no choice as so many of you know me, both in rl and here.

Ok please forgive and if you don't want TMI please do not read further.........

I was in the bath this evening and washing myself and while washing my lady parts (sorry but i don't know a term less crass) and just right to my cl*t i have a small pea size lump I am scared senseless the worst things are going through my head and i can't stop crying. Please help as i don't know what the hell to do It didn't hurt until this evening and now i know its there its started to be a little sore and is rubbing. I had thrush from a course of penicillin two weeks ago but that cleared up with the fluxo (sp?) and cream. I'm sure this lump was not there yesterday and all i can think is this is serious God please help me i can't breathe for crying. How am i going to tell people?

I think she meant if your GP is male you can request a female member of staff to stay with you if you'd feel more comfortable!
Hope you weren't awake worrying, let us know how it goes x

lucyellensmum · 02/10/2007 10:24

s&s - i hope you get an appointment today so you can STOP WORRYING. Believe me i know how that can be, i actually suffer from health anxiety (to the point i have to take anti depressants) and i know how awful it is to work yourself up over something. Of course you are going to be concerned, but i do second what everyone else has said that this really sounds like nothing to worry about.

Please don't worry about being embarrased though, imagine how i felt when i had to go and tell my doctor that i had lumps about 2 inches inside!!! I mean, she didn't exactly say, hmmm, and what were you doing to find those, and she probably didnt even think it, but i certainly was , but really any decent doctor will make you feel comfortable and usually gabble on about the weather or something to take your mind off it.

Good luck with the ttc by the way

This doesn't sound like a wart at all - warts don't hurt! They are a sign of an STD (HPV), but something like 30% of all people have them, and they can lie dormant. If you want to check if it's a wart, apply a small amount of white vinegar to it (this won't hurt). If it is a wart, it will turn a bright white. The effect is quite unmistakable.

It really sounds like a spot or similar, nothing to worry about. I've had a few of these, over the years, and been worried (a previous partner had HPV, although I've never had a wart), but they've always just gone away.

lucyellensmum · 02/10/2007 10:37

NQC - thats very brave of you, vinegar, down there!!! oooh ouch lol, but i do happen to know you are right though

NotQuiteCockney · 02/10/2007 10:39

It doesn't hurt! It seems like it should, but it doesn't!

I've seen warts come up white with vinegar, on the partner who had them, the effect is quite startling.

(Docs use vinegar for this, too - I had a colposcopy, to check I didn't have the warts internally, and they used white vinegar on my cervix, to check!)

lucyellensmum · 02/10/2007 16:04

Yes i have had that - i had pre cancerous cells which they highlighted this way. So i have had an inimate view of my cervix Very easily treated too.

lucyellensmum · 02/10/2007 16:06

scared and sore, how are you today? have you been to the doctors?

My treatment etc had nothing whatsoever to do with the lumps i described by the way. Totally separate so dont even let that enter your mind.

scaredandsore · 02/10/2007 19:54

Hi!
Thanks for all your kind words
Could not go to the GP i'm too afraid that he will say its bad and i am a true believer ignorance is bliss Its still there not as sore but more hard today. It feels like a hard pea under my skin

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 02/10/2007 19:58

Um, are you currently experiencing 'bliss'? Really?

It might well be a spot, it might clear up and go away. But if it's worrying you, you should go see your GP or an appropriate nurse, and get your concerns addressed ...

scaredandsore · 02/10/2007 19:59

NQC - your'e right i'm not experiencing bliss but i can pretend its not happening i'm too scared for the other option

scared and sore, u MUST go and see your doc, lets just say it was something serious (which i REALLY dont think it is, as stuff like that down there is VERY VERY rare) but if it was and u caught it early u would be fine, but if u left it it could get much much worse, think of your kids, i suffer severe health anxiety so i know just how scared u are i really do, BUT if the worst outcome could be avoided then isnt it worth biting the bullet and letting a professional take a look? i think u know deep inside what u have to do sweety. X

SharpMolarBear · 03/10/2007 09:41

please please please go and see your GP for your own peace of mind. Everyone on here thinks it's nothing, but virtual diagnosis can only go so far
If the worst comes to the worst, it sounds as though you've caught it within days. More than likely it will be a lovely spot, boil or cyst

scaredandsore · 03/10/2007 19:34
