No deodorant keeps me fresh?

Does anyone have this problem? I have always struggled with deodorant but recently has been very bad.

Can anyone recommend a deodorant or something that may help?

What do you use to wash with?
Switching from shower gel to good old fashioned plain soap (not Dove) has made a big difference to me.

BettaSplenden · 09/08/2019 21:43

Mitcham deodorant bar stick things are the best thing ever. And wash with normal soap

Notaboxer · 09/08/2019 21:45

Another vote for Mitchum, been using it for a year and wouldn’t change now

SolitudeAtAltitude · 09/08/2019 21:45

I thought this, and in a weird reverse sort of way, using a very mild one without aluminium, sanex zero, is best

It's calmed down my underarm skin. Dove, nivea etc irritated and aggravated the area and how it smells!

So a mild, gentle one has been so.much better

SolitudeAtAltitude · 09/08/2019 21:46

And yes, plain soap! And no polyester or acrylic clothes

OddBoots · 09/08/2019 21:49

I'm another that has found moving from shower gel to soap has made a good difference.

Subtledifference · 09/08/2019 21:51

Yes to washing your underarms with a bar of soap. Has made a massive difference for me.

idhavenoluckifitwasntforbadluc · 09/08/2019 21:51

I have been using my babies johnson baby soap as I thought it may be a bit better.

My skins seems to be badly breaking out over my back and chest so not sure if it's hormonal just now. I have wedding coming up and extremely worried and paranoid I'm going to be smelling as the day goes on.

Ill give Mitchum a go, I have never been able to use sure but nothing seems to be working. I went on to my husbands deodorant, which helped a bit but that's failing now.

Switch to soap you will be instantly fresher. I use any deodorant now and feel fresh all day. I used to use dove body wash and deodorant but my god, it's really shit.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/08/2019 21:52

I use soap, and this deodorant,
naturaldeoco.com/gentle-deodorant-cream/
I smell the same in the evening before my bath, as I do in the morning. It is a stiff cream that softens in your hand, I just dab it on.

ShippingNews · 09/08/2019 21:55

Definitely bar soap, and really give it a good scrub. I recommend Mitchum deodorant like many PP, it's excellent. And make sure to use some pre-wash spray on the underarms of your clothes too, and wash in hot water - the bacteria can stay in the fibres and make your clothes smell.

00Sassy · 09/08/2019 21:57

For me I have to make sure my underarms are shaved and completely dry before I apply one of those click up cream antiperspirants (I use sure or dove)
I allow that to completely dry before putting a top on.

Oh, and it works best of you can do that at night, before bed.

idhavenoluckifitwasntforbadluc · 09/08/2019 21:59

Thanks everyone. I'll give it a go 🙏🏻

Similar problem here.

I’ve been trying Mitchum aerosol but not much improvement. Do others find the stick ones better?

Wrybread · 09/08/2019 22:03

If you start to whiff very soon afterwards it might actually be a thrush infection

piefacedClique · 09/08/2019 22:07

Sanex zero shower gel and then sanex stick deodorant or mitchum.... I notice a difference if I move away from sanex zero

mrsfollowill · 09/08/2019 22:13

Another one recommending bar soap- I use Pears soap and Mitchum deo Smile

2pointfourmonkeys · 09/08/2019 22:14

Is it you that smells or is it that you make your clothes smell?
For me I found washing my tops in Halo sports wash has made a massive difference, its designed to get bacteria out of clothing that normal detergent doesn't. I still sweat a lot under my arms but since I've started using the sports wash every few washes i've seen/smelt a huge difference.

firsttimemummy11 · 09/08/2019 22:16

I find the men's roll on deodorants work the best for me. I've recently tried the Lidl own brand and am amazed at how fresh it keeps me for the entire day! Even when we had those super hot days... give it a go, I've been using the light blue roll on x

AntiHop · 09/08/2019 22:17

Order Nuud online. It is expensive but a tube lasts for months. Made a huge difference for me, and no aluminium.

MiddleForDiddle · 09/08/2019 22:18

Yes to switching to regular soap. Neste Dante soap is marvellous and often on offer on amazon or in tk maxx.
I found mitchum irritated my skin so I've been using garnier invisi cool roll on which is amazing even in very hot weather. (99p in HomeBargains.)

NannyR · 09/08/2019 22:22

The only thing that works for me is a crystal stone deodorant. For some reason, antiperspirants don't seem to stop me sweating, even using stronger ones I smell at the end of the day. Now I wash with proper soap and run a crystal into my wet armpits after my shower and it really does stop any odour at all, even on really hot days.

MerryDeath · 09/08/2019 22:29

bar soap! seriously! not baby wash that won't do aaaanything it's no wonder. just a bar of simple.. is magic. we have no shower gel in our house now.

MarkRonsonsMother · 09/08/2019 22:30

I smell if I use Mitchum.

I use Sure Maximum.

RubbingHimSourly · 09/08/2019 22:33

Mitchum, but always, always put on the night before after a shower or pit scrub ...... It gives it chance to get to work.

I'm amazed by the stuff and have been guilty of chasing poor, long suffering dp round to do a pit check and confirm that I'm stink free 😂😂😂
