No deodorant keeps me fresh?

Does anyone have this problem? I have always struggled with deodorant but recently has been very bad.

Can anyone recommend a deodorant or something that may help?

Have a look at Driclor. I'm incredibly sweaty, but can usually get away with a crystal deodorant for most of the year.
But in summer it has to be Driclor which I apply twice a week.

I use Clinique, fragrance free. Stick or roll on they both work. It's £15 a bottle but it lasts a good few months. Nothing else works. Except for triple dry fragrance free spray but that has been discontinued so doesn't count.

I think the problem is compounded by how difficult it is to wash “strong” Mitchum-type antiperspirants off properly. If it’s not completely washed away you still have stale bacteria trapped in the residue, and then you layer more anti-persp on top the next day and it just gets worse.

I wash with bar soap anyway, but on its own it doesn’t break down the layer of antiperspirant - or not with normal showering techniques. I need to really go for it with a hot, extra soapy flannel and proper scrubbing.

I’ve even occasionally whacked on a bit of ££ facial cleanser and hot-cloth cleansed my underarms, all the whole going Hmm in the mirror at the ridiculousness of it all. It works, though.

@girlandboy Jesus Christ that stuff stings, Don't think I'd be brave enough to try it again, It worked wonders though.

girlandboy · 09/08/2019 22:50

@userxx I've only found it stung once when I stupidly applied it straight after shaving. Made my toes curl a bit!
Otherwise....no problem, no stinging skin like a rhino maybe

LyndaLaHughes · 09/08/2019 22:53

Mitchum roll on is a game changer

mollyblack · 09/08/2019 22:53

Agree with PP the Natural Deodorant Company ones are AWESOME. For years i was disappointed by various deodorants but these ones just work so well, I use the "active" range.

BadBadger · 09/08/2019 23:00

I'm super allergic to the Mitchum ones, to the point I want to claw my underarms out any time I've used it.

I use the Sure Maximum protection cream and that works really well for me. My only problem now is that if I don't have sweaty underarms it comes out through my face instead. :/

userxx · 09/08/2019 23:02

@girlandboy I opened the bedroom windows and was blowing on my pits. The itch was intense 🙈. Got a horrible feeling I applied after shaving, clearly where I went wrong!

heidbuttsupper · 09/08/2019 23:03

Have used Mitchum roll on for 20 years. It's the only thing that works for me

FrancesHolmes · 09/08/2019 23:09

I've used Driclor for decades. It changed my life.

Fullm0on · 10/08/2019 20:58

Mitchum is the best I’ve ever used. Had the same problem a few years ago

nevernotstruggling · 10/08/2019 21:03

For me using an epilator and driclor changed my bloody life thanks mn! Stings like fuck but the fact is stops the need for daily product altogether!!!!

Scruffalicious · 10/08/2019 21:05

Soap, Faith in Nature crystal stick to fight odour, then The Loving Nature deodorant balm for scent and stop dry skin.

EvaHarknessRose · 10/08/2019 21:26

I use a pitrock salt deodorant it took a good week at first to build up and work but now I sometimes go a day or two without and it's not a problem. And bar soap.

ThisIsM · 10/08/2019 21:59

I have the same problem. I don't know what is it as I don't even sweat that much after using driclor years ago. But always been like it, if I get even a little bit hot and sweaty I can smell myself 😫 agree with PP about deos getting stuck in your skin - I use one of those exfoliating mitts (the black sanctuary ones from boots that have charcoal in I think?) and they really help with scrubbing me clean. I've just got a LUSH bar of soap so hoping that is going to work as well as a normal bar soap?
I did try the pitrok and it amazingly worked for a good while and then it just stopped working! 😫
I long to be able to not worry about it 🙁
I will also try some of the deos suggested, thank you everyone.
