ok.tomorrow youhave to find an NHS dentist and sign on - if your not with one already - get next available appt.

this wont be for ages but your town WILL have an energency dentist - when you phone your dentist at 5.30 or whenever they all go home - LIKE NOW _ PHONE NOW there will be an answer machine giving energency dentist details.

then phone emergency dentist DEAD ON the time it opens - and get t see them tomorrow night.

meanwhile get to boots and ask the pharmacist what is available.

my dh said that co codemol is the drug of choice.

Pabamella · 27/07/2007 00:10

We get working family tax credits,, does that entitle me to NHS treatment?

Until you can get to your dentist, a cocktail of co-codamol and ibuprofen is what was recommended to me by my pharmacist when I had toothache. I used that and clove oil dabbed on to the painul area.
Worked a treat until I could be seen.
Careul with the clove oil if you use it though, it tastes absolutely foul if you get it on your tongue! I had my head tipped in all kind of wierd directions trying to get it in just the place I wanted it! lol

FireFaerie · 27/07/2007 00:46

If you are on FTC you should get free dental treatment. We are on FTC too, and have NHS exemption certificate cards. The same as a free prescription from the docs/chemists.
DF is having one of his teeth pulled on Monday, after putting up with pain from it for over 5 years. Yes, i am aware he is a fool, and have been trying to make him aware for a few years too
Good luck with the pain until you get seen though, its such an unbearable pain, i truly feel for you!

kateeliz · 27/07/2007 05:26

Codeine is the best thing for toothache. Instant relief.

electra · 27/07/2007 05:33

I have a dental appointment today. My NHS status went ages ago because I didn't go for more than 15 months and now it is going to cost me loads - eek. It is hard enough where I live finding someone who is willing to take you on as a private patient. However, I figure the longer I leave it now the more it will cost! And I'm feeling braver. I became terrified to go because a dentist cocked up a filling I had a few years ago and my jaw was cramping for days. Hopefully I will get someone good now.

LOL @ custy's post about her dh - I'm sure I'll be saying the same thing!
