A brand new sugary snack free week
I feel I've more energy today, DD2 only woke the once last night at 12.30 and then no one woke me till 7 so had a good night's sleep which helps too!
Had enough energy to dust the house and clean the bathrooms, now fancying a well deserved break ...cup of coffee, biscui..nooooo, this os hard. Apart fromalcohol I have no treats and I can't have my G&T at 11.45!!!!! Oh well roll on bedtime!!!!!!
Well doner everyone for getting this far, big pats on back all round, good luck for this week

Hi clutteredup, can I join in too if it's not too late? Have a stone to shift, was going to give India Knight's diet a try from this week (low carb). I'm a regular exerciser but also a major snackaholic so really need to cut back on the refined sugars for a while!

burek · 16/07/2007 16:18

I've done it again - a strawberry ice lolly this time. In the blazing sun it made me feel so much better! Mainly because it was cold - the sweetness didn't actually taste that good tbh so hopefully that will be a lesson to me. Will stick to water from now on and start the week again on a positive note.

clutteredup · 16/07/2007 17:54

Welcome aboard laloop - we're just cutting out the sugary snacks rather than dieting as such. It's because I'm an addict and sugar makes me horrible but of course you may join us. i have found it's helping me start getting some self discipline and I'm even starting to think about what I'm eating too. Really how much I'm eating, I can only give up one thing at a time
If you are having nice weather burek you're allowed a few lollies, it's probably more important to keep hydrated - good that you didn't like the sweetness, you're a proper convert - wish i could not like the sweetness....maybe one day......
Still been good today, its definintely getting easier, but then I've had a banana

pagwatch · 16/07/2007 18:09

Blimey !!
I'm cutting out all refined sugars. Today is start of week 2. I feel SO much better, much more energy and my skin is better . And weighed myself this morning and I've lost 7 lbs. crickey!

I'm not actually trying to loose weight but just felt 'different' so I was curious. I think it is the increased energy level helping as I have been far more active and the dog has had three really long walks in the last four days.

Well I am sold.
(BTW - I am eating really healthily NOT dieting per se really just crap cutting.)

clutteredup · 16/07/2007 18:29

[big congratulatory smiley] well done pagwatch 7lbs !!!
I'm hoping I will get there too, a bit behind due to falling off the wagon a couple of times but you are an inspiration. It really makes a difference doesn't it. I probably should cut the refined carbs -I seem to be eating a lot of white bread right now -substituting again

OP posts:
pagwatch · 16/07/2007 18:34

Hi cluttercup
-its the substitute stuff that gets you isn't it. I caught myself constantly going to the cupboard or the fridge in the first couple of days - walnuts and pecans in the cupboard and ( oh no) cheese from the fridge. Then found myself starting at the jar of gerkins in the fridge like a crazed woman ...
It is not unlike being pregnant.....

Better now. I even distributed sweets to the kids in the car this evening and let my son make profiteroles without spending the afternoon glaring at him

clutteredup · 16/07/2007 19:46

Sounds like you're doing so well pagwatch, don't think i'd have been able to resist dipping my fingers in the chocolate, you're evidently well on your way with this... lol over the gherkins

OP posts:
laloop · 17/07/2007 08:40

Thanks for welcome
Pagwatch, 7lbs in a week, woohoo what a result!!

It's my first day today, I am going to try to be strict with myself and limit all refined carbs for the next couple of weeks. Plan is to eat healthily, drink lots of water and fit in some exercise too. I'm sticking to herbal tea as well to try to get out of the habit if grabbing a biscuit (or 6!!) which I would do if I was having an ordinary cuppa. Well that's the plan anyway, will see how it goes...

clutteredup · 17/07/2007 16:47

Good luck laloop
Today I have had no refined sugars but have ben snacking on dried fruit nuts and seeds ... OK so we're off the refined sugars but we're definitely snacking too much. need to take up a new hobby - present hobby I think is snacking..
How's everyone else doing?

OP posts:
clutteredup · 18/07/2007 10:03

good morning, well it's got to be better than last night, both dds up for most of night so today's going to be extra hard. i've started to fell dowm and am thinking is likely to be cold turkey.....bloody hell i think i'd rather be giving up heavy drugs, hot flushes shakes OMG .....i hope this is going to get better....any one else getting withdrawal or is itonly me that was survivng entirelyon sugary snacks?

OP posts:
clutteredup · 18/07/2007 10:05

that's feel down , although with my coordination this morning i'm likely to fall over too...sigh

OP posts:
laloop · 18/07/2007 12:55

Know the feeling, clutteredup. I tend to crave sugary things when I'm sleep-deprived too (and have plenty of experience as 2 out of my 3 dcs didn't sleep well at all, the 2yo still isn't great and will only sleep through once a week if we're lucky!).

I'm doing ok today, tomorrow could be a different story though .

ProfessorClutterburn · 19/07/2007 20:25

for me , went out for dinner last night and resisted pudding and sweets with coffee - so pleased...why haven't I got my energy burst yet, just feel very tired....must be the lack of sleep.....still resisting..... god this is harder than it was last time........BTW where IS everybody??????

ProfessorClutterburn · 19/07/2007 20:27

Just realised its been 2 weeks since we kicked off....that means I've done 14 days with 2 days off the wagon.....now that makes me feel better....just wish it would have some positive results....I would still kill for a chocolate bar.....but I will resist..

Donk · 19/07/2007 20:30

I comfort eat a lot when bored/stressed - its only been biscuits once this week...... but even lots of fruit and veg add up!
Need to do something about the comfort eating.... its completely out of control at the moment.

ProfessorClutterburn · 19/07/2007 20:44

Hello Donk, thought i was alone here Well done with the biscuits
You're right though it's the comfort eating of anything...I had a bit of a banana binge the other day, I think it was cheating a bit .
My problem is that by the time I have done breakfst for 3 DC, packed lunches for 2, I have no time to have more than a cup of tea in the morning....and then the bad eating begins. As its usually only the baby and me at lunchtime I don't bother making something for me so I only have one proper meal in the evening and that's only if DH is home, which he is only sometimes in the week. So I snack because I'm too tired/fed up of preparing meals/ lazy to feed myself properly. MY eating habits are abominable, I need to be as strict with myself as I am with the DC.. I would never let them eat like me...

PrincessGoodLife · 23/07/2007 15:02

are you all still here? lost the thread for a bit after changing name (was b urek).
is there a week 3 thread?
still doing ok here. DS gave me a single dolly mixture sweet the other day and it tasted WAAAAAY sweeter than I remember them. A good sign I hope. However, I did actually eat it

PrincessGoodLife · 24/07/2007 10:03

bump

clutteredup · 24/07/2007 12:36

Hi princess goodlife, i was thinking i had been deserted, so glad I'm not alone here. Sounds like you're doing really well.....I've been a bit bad the last couple of days..I even had a sweet yeaterday but I was all set to give up but now you're back i'll try again. i've certainly seem to have cracked the addiction and cravings i had , but I'd still like to be good about the no sweets and biscuits rule...i've finished the blasted muesli ryvita now so that's better. We could go for the week 3 thread or stay here, i think its only us now everyone else appears to have disappeared into the ether...

OP posts:
PrincessGoodLife · 24/07/2007 16:15

why not? but maybe we can just stick to the one thread after that? easier to find us then if anyone wants to rejoin?
