Thread #69 is filling up with messages of support for one of our own who is very seriously ill. Leslie told me a few weeks ago that she didn’t want any such messages to get in the way of those who need support through their cancer treatment so we are starting a new thread just for those who do have cancer or who are having tests. Could we respectfully ask lurkers and supportive posters to confine their comments to thread #69? Thank you.

We normally start with a brief introduction to our cancers – I’ll kick off. Ovarian cancer dx March 2017. Now on third-line treatment with a trial providing targeted and chemo drugs taken orally.

purpleunicorns · 03/06/2019 16:41

Hello everyone, I'll have a catch up later on all of your posts as my head is all over the place at the minute but Brew and Cake to those that need them

I'm still in hospital and my kidneys aren't draining at all so I've been put on super strong antibiotics to see if they help. If they don't then there's nothing else they cans do for me. I'm also on a syringe driver for pain relief and anti sickness. When I do leave the hospital I'll going straight to the hospice so I'm not sure if I'll ever be going home Sad

Borntobeamum · 03/06/2019 16:49

Oh Purple I dont know what to say.
Posting on here is so open, yes so impersonal.
I send my love at this difficult time x x

Toofaroutallmylife · 03/06/2019 17:36

Purple - I’m so sorry to read your update. You’ve been such a huge support to me in my time on these threads, so thank you. I hope you stay as comfortable as possible Flowers

TwitterQueen1 · 03/06/2019 17:46

Purple so sorry to hear this. I know it's not unexpected - until it actually happens of course - but what a massive shock it must be.

I’m very very sorry to see your news purple. Saying sorry to hear it doesn’t even cover a situation like this. I know you have had an opportunity to reconcile yourself to dying but I can’t imagine what I is like to face it. I hope you have got adequate pain relief and family are all doing ok dealing with this. So much respect for you! You’re in my prayers Flowers xx

freddiemercury · 03/06/2019 21:49

Dearest purple delurking to say I'm thinking of you and very much hope that the fuck off antibiotics do their job. It must be very hard to process news like that. You take care...
Also tq I've just caught up on your news too... I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow
Hello to everyone else. To all "newbies" sorry to see you.... I was diagnosed with breast cancer in Feb 2017..lumpectomy and radiotherapy...no chemo. On tamoxifen now. I rarely post nowadays as have very little to say... but I do check in and if anyone has a breast cancer question I will always be happy to help.

iVampire · 03/06/2019 21:57

purple so sorry to read that. Fingers crossed that the super-strength ABs do their stuff, and that you are comfortable.

And fingers crossed for you too TQ for a good, useful and productive appointment tomorrow

Proseccoinamug · 03/06/2019 22:57

TQ, what shitty news. I hope you can have the surgery.

meercat23 · 03/06/2019 23:16

Purple. So sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time. Hoping with all the hope in the world that the AB's do their job and that things are better for you. Sending you back just a little bit of the positive support you have given to everyone here.

I am so, so sorry to hear your news purple. I am always so impressed at how you manage to be so supportive to everyone here, and keep people's stories straight. Thinking of you x

Bloodybridget · 04/06/2019 07:00

purple I am so very sorry. More than sorry. Awful to think you may not go home again, but I'm sure the hospice will provide every care, and hopefully be a calm and loving environment for you. Love and thoughts to you.

redspook · 04/06/2019 09:31

Love and strength to you purple. You were straight in with support for me and I'm now sending as much as I can back to you x

purpleunicorns · 04/06/2019 10:14

Thank you everybody, you have no idea how much your love and support means to me. A doctor came last night to flush the nephrostomies and they've been draining Smile although I'll still be going into a hospice at least I can drink now without worrying about where it's going.

Good luck today TQ, I'm keeping everything crossed for good news Thanks

Mrstraveller · 04/06/2019 17:07

Purple. So sorry to hear your news. Sending love to you xx

Wombat22 · 04/06/2019 17:20

purple I'm pleased to see your kidneys are now playing ball, but sorry that you'll be going to the hospice. I'm sending love and hoping the pain is under control Glitterball

TQ I hope all went well today.

Love to everyone else Thanks

TwitterQueen1 · 04/06/2019 18:18

Yes! good news. The tumours haven't grown in size and I can go ahead with the SRS more info here

I am so pleased - I waited all afternoon and rang twice to get the info. Also, the swelling has reduced too, and I'm hoping they will take down the steroids a bit. So I'll be treated on 12, 14 and 17th June.

Purple you are always in my thoughts.

Woo hoo TQ. Congratulations - that is great news Glitterball

Flyingarcher · 04/06/2019 19:16

Sending much love, @purpleunicorns. A hospice will be so much better than the hospital and just a calmer place for you and your family. Fingers crossed for the antibiotics kicking ass.

Toofaroutallmylife · 04/06/2019 19:57

Great news TQ (although I do find it a little unnerving how cancer alters our perspective of what constitutes “great news”).

TwitterQueen1 · 04/06/2019 21:22

Yes, good point Toofar. Sad but true that every single tiny little thing can give us hope of some kind though and having had hope killed for a year or so I find I need to cling on to something. So for me, the 'hope' is that because it's now not whole brain therapy I will not lose my marbles so quickly. I'm hoping I won't become incontinent for example.

Reality does indeed set new benchmarks for us all.
