Thread #69 is filling up with messages of support for one of our own who is very seriously ill. Leslie told me a few weeks ago that she didn’t want any such messages to get in the way of those who need support through their cancer treatment so we are starting a new thread just for those who do have cancer or who are having tests. Could we respectfully ask lurkers and supportive posters to confine their comments to thread #69? Thank you.

We normally start with a brief introduction to our cancers – I’ll kick off. Ovarian cancer dx March 2017. Now on third-line treatment with a trial providing targeted and chemo drugs taken orally.

It's brilliant to read the good news, it's helping to keep me going right now.
Even though I'm a relative newcomer I am gaining so much support from this thread. I hope I can give some back to others in due course.

That is great for you meercat. I’m about to embark on 12x weekly Paclitaxel with Carboplatin every 3 weeks. My onc confidently stated I should find this as easy or easier than EC. I think you’ve found it quite hard though haven’t you? Grateful for any heads up on what I should expect. How many bad and good days do you get in a weekly protocol?

So pleased it went well yesterday, TQ. Hope you aren’t too sleep deprived on the steroids and that tomorrow’s goes equally well. They will be out of the way before you know it. Any nice weekend plans?

Great news for you too gib! What a whopping relief. I’m also hoping to have a lumpectomy when it comes to it, though my genetic test results are awaited and might influence that decision.

Bitoffun I recognise that too! My routine in any appointment or conversation with an HCP is to remember a couple of my side effects but not all. Ironically my chemo brain often makes me forget to tell them about my chemo brain Hmm My husband always has to remember what I forget!

How are you doing redspook? Are you managing to put anxiety aside a little bit? I have downloaded the Calm app on my phone which has lots of guided meditations and short sessions about dealing with difficult emotions - you can get a free 7 day trial to see what you think.

Brassica I think Paclitaxel is easier than EC from what I understand from those who have done EC. My worst days were after the Zolodronic a couple of weeks back. That was nasty because it caused my arthritis to flare The pattern with Pac seems to be a couple of good steroid days immediately after followed by a bit of a crash of fatigue on the third day. After that it seems to depend on what i have been trying to do. The fatigue has built up over the weeks but not drastically. I hope it works out as well for you.

I don't know about Carboplatin though, I am having Herceptin every three weeks.

redspook · 13/06/2019 12:12

Hi brassica, thanks for asking.
I had a bad day yesterday, and my fitbit tells me I got three hours sleep last night. However, I'm a bit calmer this morning and I don't know why so I can't make myself go there.
I haven't heard about my last test, so have left a message for the consultant's secretary to call me. After the last test I may have to wait up to another week for the next MDT meeting.

Bit of Fun

Your post was so accurate. I go in with a list of questions ask the most important one and then think well there’s a huge queue outside and the rest of my questions now seem trivial so I’ll just go!

TQ - glad you didn’t find the experience too bad and not too much zapping left to do.

Redspook. Hope you manage a better sleep tonight. If you are really struggling it might be worth a chat to the GP. I had Zoplicone at the beginning as my mind just would not slow down xx

ALERT ALERT ALERT
Hello everyone! We are getting dangerously close to the limit of the thread Shock Wink.

Would someone else like to have a go? We always link to previous thread and resume with a summary of who's got what to make it easier to related. Not sure that my brain is going to be up to the next one.

Happy to take that on unless anyone else has a greater desire to?

Dulcedelecherocks · 13/06/2019 16:39

Go for it. I don't know how to post links 👀

Mrstraveller · 13/06/2019 17:48
