Anyone else at breast clinic this week

dahliaaa · 04/02/2019 11:19

I have an appointment on Thursday via the 2WW for a patch of very lumpy tissue in upper outer area of right breast.

I’m the same age DM was when she was diagnosed with BC (although it’s not through to be hereditary) and DH also has cancer so just want the week to go quicker.

I have been to clinic before so really should be better at the wait ! Just trying to keep busy with work etc.

Yes, me. I'm in tomorrow afternoon.

I went for my first ever routine mammogram two weeks ago and have been called back for second screening at a different hospital. I've been told to allow 3 hours for tests.

Am getting increasingly anxious now Sad

sonatuni · 04/02/2019 17:22

I hope it all goes ok tomorrow What.
3 hours is the standard time for the one stop breast clinic. Take a snack and a drink. Hope you manage to get a rest later x

dahliaaa · 04/02/2019 17:24

WhathaveIFound - it really is nerve wracking but the people at the clinics are v v good and do everything as efficiently as possible to try and minimise the stress.

Are you taking any one with you or going on your own ?

OP posts:
WhatHaveIFound · 04/02/2019 17:44

I'm having to go on my own as DH needs to be on hand to do the school pick up. MIL would normally step in but i don't want to worry her.

I'm normally quite relaxed health wise but a close friend recently went from first mammogram to Stage 2 breast cancer and it has thrown me completely.

dahliaaa · 04/02/2019 18:14

I’ve been on my own a couple of times and it was ok (in fact I preferred it because then I wasn’t worrying about the other person.)
Have they said you might need a biopsy tomorrow ? Don’t panic if they say they need to do one - I have had one in past and all was clear in the end.

OP posts:
dahliaaa · 04/02/2019 18:15

Ps totally understand how your friends situation has thrown you. Fingers crossed this time tomorrow you will be able to put behind you.

No, they haven't mentioned a biopsy though it's mentioned in the leaflet that came with the letter. I had to phone to move the appointment from last week as i was working away. Maybe i should have asked why they were calling me back? Would they have told me over the phone?

Friend has a completely different lifestyle to me. That's what my head says. I'm a non smoker, minimal drinker who goes to the gym and who rarely eats red or processed meats.

DH is obviously overthinking too as he's just suggested he goes with me and then leaves me to get a taxi home if it gets too close to DC pickup.

Fingers crossed for us both!

dahliaaa · 04/02/2019 18:49

They probably wouldn’t have said anything on the phone.
I think it’s quite common to get called back after first routine scan because they don’t really have anything to compare the scans with.
(Where I had my biopsy they put a marker so now when that area shows up as a question mark they can look back at the biopsy results to see that it’s ok.)

Hope all goes ok today What

OP posts:
WhatHaveIFound · 05/02/2019 17:08

All ok though a very stressful day, not helped by going to the wrong hospital. Luckily i allowed lots of time to get there and so made it to the actual one with minutes to spare.

I have a small lump in my right breast but it's apparently all normal, just breast tissue. I had 6 x-rays, examination and an ultrasound but thankfully no biopsy.

Hope all goes well for you on Thursday dahliaaa and thanks for all your support.

If it wasn't for the fact that i'm driving later i'd resort to a mid week Wine

dahliaaa · 05/02/2019 17:49

That’s great news What - so pleased for you Smile

Joining this thread after coming back from my breast clinic appointment today. Lump on my left breast that is quite hard and large so they did a mammogram (didn’t show much beyond very dense breast tissue), a FNA and biopsy. Consultant was concerned and wanted me in for MRI ASAP as mammogram didn’t show much.

A month ago I was on TTC threads I didn’t I would find myself here - bit stunned about it all.

Hope we all have good news in the next couple of weeks Flowers

dahliaaa · 06/02/2019 22:43

Sorry you’ve got more waiting Lilian. Did they give you any idea how long it might take for the MRI appointment to come through ?

OP posts:
LillianFullStop · 07/02/2019 10:37

I got a call this morning and it is for next Thursday.

No biopsy results yet - how long do they normally take to come back?

Hope your appointment goes well today @dahliaaa - I agree they are so lovely, caring and professional at the breast clinic so not concerned with having to go on my own as DH has to pick up/look after DD.

dahliaaa · 07/02/2019 14:44

Thank you Lillian - I am just back from clinic and all ok thankfully.
I didn’t need biopsy this time but have had one previously and I think it took 1-2 weeks to get the results. Hope you don’t have to wait too long for the results and that all goes ok on Thursday.

OP posts:
LillianFullStop · 07/02/2019 16:27

that’s great news for you @dahliaaa - you can now enjoy your weekend worry free Cake

dahliaaa · 07/02/2019 18:08

It might be worth you starting a new thread about breast MRIs and biopsy’s to get some more specific input from others with experience.

OP posts:
WhatHaveIFound · 08/02/2019 14:25

Great news for you dahliaaa. Was thinking of you yesterday but couldn't get on the site and then finally realised i was using the wrong email address!

Fingers crossed for you LillianFullStop. I hope you get your results quickly. It was the waiting more than anything that made me anxious.

dahliaaa · 08/02/2019 19:16

Thank you What Smile
I agree - the waiting is really tough.
Hope you’ve been able to keep busy Lillian.

OP posts:
Maybenexttime08 · 08/02/2019 21:25

I’ll join the club - 2nd mammogram done today having found microcalcification on the 1st one. Very disappointed that they weren’t able to give me any results so now the wait begins again..

dahliaaa · 08/02/2019 22:36

That must be so frustrating Maybesometime.
Did they give you any idea when you will Head from them ?

OP posts:
LillianFullStop · 09/02/2019 12:09

Thanks everyone - I have an appointment on Wednesday presumably to discuss findings in the biopsy. Are biopsies conclusive of whether it is cancerous?

dahliaaa · 09/02/2019 13:08

I’m not sure to be honest Lillian.
Might be worth giving the nurses a call at Breast Cancer Care on Monday as they can answer questions about testing. 0808 800 6000.

Also if you start a new thread specifically asking about biopsies then hopefully you will get more response from people with direct experience.

OP posts:
dahliaaa · 09/02/2019 13:12

Lillian have just seen that you have started another thread. I’ll bump that for you so that it comes up in active.

OP posts:
Sugarplumfairy65 · 09/02/2019 16:52

My first biopsy 3 weeks ago was inconclusive so I had another one on Tuesday. I get my results on Monday
