Anyone else at breast clinic this week

dahliaaa · 04/02/2019 11:19

I have an appointment on Thursday via the 2WW for a patch of very lumpy tissue in upper outer area of right breast.

I’m the same age DM was when she was diagnosed with BC (although it’s not through to be hereditary) and DH also has cancer so just want the week to go quicker.

I have been to clinic before so really should be better at the wait ! Just trying to keep busy with work etc.

Thanks @dahliaaa.

@Maybenexttime08 did they tell you when they think the results will come back?

Sorry @Sugarplumfairy65 the waiting is so tough sorry you have to go through it twice - did they recommend doing an MRI for something more conclusive?

My appointment is Wednesday I hope the results are in to tell me either way. Do you attend the appointments by yourself? I would I could have DH with me in case it is the worst outcome but he needs to do the drop off for DD.

Sugarplumfairy65 · 09/02/2019 18:48

I've had numerous full body mri scans over the last 2 years because I have follicular non Hodgkins lymphoma. The mammogram was the first time that anything has been picked up in my breast tissue. I'm thinking that perhaps its the NHL back again. I've previously had it under my arm in my abdomen and groin

JiltedJohnsJulie · 09/02/2019 18:57

Can I join the club too? I've had a recall on my second Mammogram. Need to go to the hospital on Monday.

Maybenexttime08 · 09/02/2019 19:37

Sorry to hear that @JiltedJohnsJulie - what’s the reason for the call-back do you know?

JiltedJohnsJulie · 09/02/2019 19:43

No idea sorry May. The letter was very vague and said probably no reason to worry king of thing, but of course you have some concerns.

DH was going to take me until I came across this thread and realised it might take 3 hours. Think I'd rather have him cook my tea for me when I get home Smile

Will take MN, something to read a snack and drink and try to relax.

Hi everyone,

Just found this thread - and I hope you're all ok.

I had my first routine mammogram last Monday and received a letter last Thursday asking me to come to the Breast Clinic this coming Tuesday for further investigation.

When I first read the letter I was so upset, but as time has gone by I have convinced myself that I am healthy and there is nothing wrong with me. Is that silly to do?!

I feel healthy, I have no symptoms and I think perhaps it will be a case that my initial mammogram was just not clear - that is what I am hoping for.

To be honest thinking about the other scenarios scares me too much. I have done some reading and everyone seems to have such positive stories. I know I'm jumping way ahead in some of my thoughts but I honestly don't think I could bear to have a mastectomy if it came to that. Is that normal to think like that - have any of you had those kind of thoughts?

Wishing you all the very best for the coming week.

LillianFullStop · 10/02/2019 18:07

Best of luck to @Sugarplumfairy65 and @JiltedJohnsJulie with appointments tomorrow I hope it’s only good news for you both.

My appointment is Wednesday and I’ve been able to relax a bit more this weekend not jumping at every new e-mail or phone call thinking it’s the hospital with my biopsy results. Anxiety slowly creeping back this evening. I assume they won’t move the appointment forward just because the results come earlier?

@Tiru19 I’m with you - I feel 100% fine besides some tiredness from the stress and anxiety. Certainly not feeling any worse than I did before my breast clinic referral.

Maybenexttime08 · 10/02/2019 20:06

@Tiru19 - You’re right not to get too stressed. From people I’ve spoken to apparently it’s really common to be called back after a first mammogram, and nearly all of them have good outcomes. As they don’t have any previous mammograms to compare any changes to, I guess they’re just extra cautious.

I was called back for a second mammogram because of microcalcifications. While not ideal, again I think it is quite normal for them to be extra vigilant!

Good luck!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 10/02/2019 20:46

Thank you so much Lillian Thanks

Sugarplumfairy65 · 11/02/2019 12:52

Well...I got my results today. No breast cancer present but there have been some cell changes. Back to hematology at the end of this month to see if its anything to do with the lymphoma. Yearly monitoring from now on.
I really hope the rest of you are ok.💐

JiltedJohnsJulie · 11/02/2019 15:42

Sugar so glad there's no breast cancer present and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you in haematology Thanks

I had 2 mammograms today and an ultrasound scan and the Consultant radiographer said it's cysts so I'm back to 3 yearly mammograms. Obviously feel very relieved.

Maybenexttime08 · 11/02/2019 19:35

Great news @Sugar and @Jilted - what a relief!

JiltedJohnsJulie · 11/02/2019 20:26

It was a relief. I don't think I've ever got dressed and left a place so quickly, and I've had my fair share of dodgy dates Grin

Tiru19 · 11/02/2019 20:41

Glad to hear your good news@Sugar and @Jilted.

I go tomorrow and feeling a little nervous.

LillianFullStop · 11/02/2019 21:18

That’s so good to hear @Sorry and @Jilted! My heart is lifted with the good news I can only imagine your relief!

@Tiru mine is Wednesday and feeling quite anxious now too - hope you come back with good news tomorrow too Cake

Tiru19 · 11/02/2019 21:22

I’ll be thinking of you @Lillian, stay calm!

LillianFullStop · 12/02/2019 15:24

Thanks @Tiru19 - hope all well with your appointment today.

Tiru19 · 12/02/2019 19:09

It was good news for me today and am feeling very grateful and relieved. I had a very thorough afternoon consisting of a 3D mammogram and a super detailed (and long) ultrasound. Feel very reassured - the consultant said that the images will be reviewed again by her colleagues and if there were any differing opinions then I would be recalled. But as far as she was concerned all was ok - that if I was worried at all to go to my GP.

She explained that some breasts are fatty and some more dense - and I think, if I understood her correctly, that when there is less fat sometimes the images are harder to read as they appear white. She showed me the area of concern, it was right behind the nipple and I could see that it appeared more white. She was very kind, very thorough and very reassuring.

As you said @Jilted, I have never got dressed and out so quickly!

I hope all goes well tomorrow for you @Lillian, I will be thinking of you. And anyone else with appointments.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 12/02/2019 19:57

Good luck for tomorrow Lillian and Tiru I think what you've been told makes a lot of sense. I don't have much body fat either and a white blob was clearly visible Smile

Maybenexttime08 · 12/02/2019 20:36

Great news @Tiru - now to get on with things .. and the wait for me goes on - hopefully get the all clear before half term so I can relax!

LillianFullStop · 13/02/2019 19:47

Hi everyone - got “not bad news” at my appointment today. Biopsies showing as chronic inflammation and no malignant cells FNA on lymph nodes. Relieved but as they still do not know what it is and there is an obvious lump there they took more biopsies today to re-check and additional tests. Boob properly sore now as I still had bruising from the last biopsies!

dahliaaa · 13/02/2019 20:21

lillian glad everything came back as benign but sorry that you need more tests. That must have felt really sore! Hope you get some answers soon.

OP posts:
Tiru19 · 13/02/2019 22:40

Sorry to hear you had a day of it @Lillian - but good to hear no malignant cells although I am sure you want to find out what’s causing the inflammation. How long until you get the latest biopsy results? Hope it’s not too long a wait for you.

Adelais · 14/02/2019 21:53

Hi all, I have an appointment next Monday at the breast clinic. Around 3 weeks ago I discovered a red lump on my nipple. The gp wasn’t sure what it was, she said it might be a boil although it doesn’t hurt and she thought if it was infected it should hurt. She prescribed me an antibiotic however after taking one my throat started burning so I was too scared to take anymore.
Hoping it’s nothing sinister and just a spot or something.

LillianFullStop · 14/02/2019 22:51

Thanks @dahliaa and @Tiru19 - not bad news is definitely better than bad news. This lot is more sore than the last though. I hope that’s the last of it! Any more I’m sure they’d have biopsied the whole lump out. Results not for another week so more waiting for me...

Hi @Adelais - I hope it turns out to be nothing to worry about. It could be any number of things and you’re going to the right place to make sure it’s nothing to worry about.
