very rarely, my dad oftens does it cause he thinks i'm a neglectful parent.

zephyrcat · 06/06/2007 10:32

At least once a week - fingernails are worse, they grow at lightening speed!

Never!

dd and ds1 seem to have inherited paper thin nails from somewhere and never need cutting.

I once cut dd's finger badly so don't trust myself to do the dts. I think they get done about once a fortnight though.

quadrophenia · 06/06/2007 10:33

but you have a thing about feet do you not?

prettymum · 06/06/2007 10:35

i finally managed to get round to cutting 10 month old ds' nails yesterday after him scratching my arms to bits! and dd(2) desperately need hers done which i will do now! i keep forgetting!

Ds' toenails also curl like that, 'tis vile so I make sure they don't get the chance! I havbe a foot thing though, I don't like feet.

when dd asks me to

when she starts poking holes in hers socks

ghosty · 06/06/2007 10:39

When we were in NZ, hardly ever, as being bare foot all the time meant they spent most of the time scraping off their toenails in the wild.

Now in Aus, cold winter, creepy crawlies etc, wearing shoes, need cutting every couple of weeks.

DS's fingernails grow ridiculously quickly - once a week at least.

JoolsToo · 06/06/2007 10:40

never these days

Oblomov · 06/06/2007 10:46

I was talking to my bf about this, when we visited her in Devon for the weekens, just gone
Her ds (8) and my ds (3.4) both hate having it done. Feet are worse than hands.
We were commenting about how extraordinarliy quickly they grow. We have both done our ds's , twice a week on mny occassions.
HOW do they grow so quickly ? It is a mystery to me.

mumof2monsters · 06/06/2007 10:48

My DD aged 3.7 hates having her toe nails cut. She will be ok with me cutting the big toe but any others especially the little toe and she screams and cries real tears.
Yesterday I had to hold her down whilst I cut them because they were curling back into the toe and one or two looked sore.
She screamed the house down! Strangely she is ok with me cutting her finger nails and will happily sit there for that. DS who is 6 happily lets me cut his nails about every two to three weeks.

Oblomov · 06/06/2007 10:48

Generally one a week. Sometimes twice a week
Am shocked by countess, twice a year - no she doesn't really mean that, does she ?

toenails..every couple of weeks...but...

i have to do it like you would shoeing a horse..backwards to ds with his foot clasped between my knees...
he screams kicks wriggles like a mule...

he bites his nails thank heavens but we think thats genetic!
... have asked him to start biting his toe nails too
...its murder this

GrumpyOldHorsewoman · 06/06/2007 10:56

Cut DD2s last night, and was thinking about starting a thread on it!
They bend over the ends of her toes, and she had been paddling in dirty puddles in her crocs so toenails were long and dirty. Have to practically sedate her to do it though. She has very weird nails. The big toenails curl upwards, the others bend downwards. Nigh on impossible to maintain.

Wotz · 06/06/2007 11:01

about every 2 weeks in summer and abit maybe 3 weeks in winter (sun makes them grow faster) and after a bath so it is easier as they are soft. But what age do you stop?

Oblomov · 06/06/2007 11:26
