Is that you [deleted] ?

AnonForDignity · 31/05/2007 20:49

Ok.

Over the last month - 6 weeks I have had a lump at the very top of my inner thigh, just where pubic hair stops growing (if I let it grow, that is). It is pea-sized, raised, very pink (like new stretchmarks skin), smooth and shiny.

Sorry if TMI, I managed to squeeze some goo out of it about 2 weeks ago thinking that it was an infected hair follicle that had gone spot-like. I put savlon on it and left it be. It hasn't gone down and if I squeeze it all I get is blood. It isn't painful, but I am rather self-conscious.

What could it be?

no, it isn't UCM

It's a boil

It will go

It might take a while & you might get one again in the same spot

Rhubarb · 31/05/2007 20:51

Is it a skin tag? If it's on your knicker line could well be this. I think they tie some fishing wire on it and it drops off.

It's nothing to be embarrassed about though. Visit your GP. I doubt it's serious.

My friend had a lump come up in her groin when she cut her lower leg shaving.

gess · 31/05/2007 20:52

I get this sort of thing (and in even more embarrasing locations) and have always assumed its some sort of zit (bleurgh) will be following thread with interest.

AnonForDignity · 31/05/2007 20:55

it isn't a skin tag. I have had one before and it's definitely not one.

I had lump in the same place ANon. It was an abcess probably as a result of an ingrown hair.

It was extremely painful and I had to have anti-biotics. I would see your GP tbh.

FrannyandZooey · 31/05/2007 20:56

I had a small boil on my vulva after having ds

it was delightful

I would put tea tree on it and leave it be for now

You want to get some drawing ointment (yes I know that sound barbaric but...) go to a pharmacist - it's magnesium sulphate paste. You put it on with a matchstick or similar - no not your finger - and then cover it with a plaster and it draws the impurity out of the skin. In a day or so it'll go soft and then a day later be gone (obviously keep applying it but wash it off after it's gone soft).

F&Z

I had a lump in a similar area - went to the docs convinced I had fanjo cancer.

It was a haemmorhoid

Bouquetsofdynomite · 31/05/2007 20:58

Boils are often to be found near the lymph nodes (ie sweaty places) like armpits or groin. My granny used to get them apparently.
If it opens, clean it with salty water and invest in some breathable plasters if your knickers annoy it. If it hurts, put Germolene on it as it contains local anaesthetic. Basically treat it like a big spot.

AnonForDignity · 31/05/2007 20:59

eeeek @ 'drawing out paste'

Yikes @ poor old Franny's fanny!

'treat it like a big spot'

yum

OP posts:
AnonForDignity · 31/05/2007 21:01

My knickers don't aggravate it

whomovedmychocolate · 31/05/2007 21:01

Did I mention the drawing paste stops it hurting and reduces the risk of swelling and can also be used on splinter - it pulls the little buggers right out of your skin!

AnonForDignity · 31/05/2007 21:01

i think i'll come home via the chemist tomorrow

FrannyandZooey · 31/05/2007 21:02

Oh, well if I am having sympathy for what my fanjo has been through, then that is the thin end of the wedge ladies

all shipshape and bristol fashion now though

FrannyandZooey · 31/05/2007 21:03

I think I know you, Anon

AnonForDignity · 31/05/2007 21:03

glad to hear it

it isn't particularly hard though, it kind of wrinkles a bit if I touch it
