What have I done to myself?!!?! In pain :-(

Ok - stupid confession...but

I had no time to shower/bath last night and as it was time of the month, I wiped myself with a face cleansing wipe. I know I know I know.

But now, even after a bath this morning - it hurts like hell!!

It stings and makes me gasp with pain when I go to the loo. Shooting pains inside and out.

What on earth have I done to myself and what can I do to make it stop?! Help please!

cystitis? happens to me all the time if I'm not careful - those moist toilet tissues do it to me.

Drink lots of water and take paracetamol if you think it's that.

carla · 19/07/2004 14:04

Good God MOS ... what were they??[sad}

CountessDracula · 19/07/2004 14:05

if it's cystitis I would go to boots and get some of those sachets (?cymalon) , plus avoid alcohol and drink cranberry juice.

muddaofsuburbia · 19/07/2004 14:06

No cuts as far as I can tell - it's an all over pain rather than a sharp pain.

What are the symptoms of thrush?

They were Asda cleansing wipes for sensitive skin (obviously not that sensitive )

Can someone describe cystitis symptoms?

those sachets are basically bicarb of soda with some paracetamol - just take a couple of tablets and drink a pint of water with a teaspoon of bicarb in as often as you can. I think it tastes vile so I make homemade tablets - a paste of bicarb and water in a plastic bag, let it dry and then chip bits off. Drink LOTS of water.

Do you have a bidet or shallow bowl like a clean washing-up bowl or baby bath? Bathing your bits by sitting in one in a warm solution of water and bicarb may ease the stinging. And if you pee in the bath it hurts much less for some reason.

I wonder, if it's an irritation caused by the face wipe rather than an illness (IYSWIM) whether Sudocrem might help?

Thanks everyone for answering so quickly - have looked up cystits symptoms - it sounds like exactly that. Also found this:

"Cystitis can also be set off by using antiseptics in bath water, perfumed soaps, vaginal deodorants or douches or contraceptive creams. Women who suffer recurrent attacks of non-bacterial cystitis are likely to have an unusually sensitive bladder and urethral lining."

I have been warned - silly Mudda

That's "cystitis" - I definitely don't want cyst tits....

I'm off to Boots.

Try cranberry juice... a lot of it. Had the same thing a week ago - pain was all gone after a 2L carton of Cranberry juice!

Nickinha - do you mean Ocean Spray type cartons of cranberry juice?

zebra · 19/07/2004 14:26

Real cranberry juice better. Go ask a chemist 4 other remedies.

anorak · 19/07/2004 14:27

There's something in cranberry juice that prevents micro-organisms from attaching themselves to the walls of your urinary tract.

Nickinha · 19/07/2004 14:34

I tried the Ocean Spray one... let me know how it works.

noddy5 · 19/07/2004 14:39

Apparently it works if you drink about 2 pints of lemon barley followed by a v strong coffee. The LB neutralises the urine and the strong coffee makes you wee! This and a couple of paracetomol might do the trick.Good luck

Any acidic drink helps, eg citrus, and cranberry is one of the most acidic.
