Welcome everyone to a shiny new thread :)

It's a club nobody wants to join, but if you need us, you are more than welcome. If you're waiting to find out if you have cancer or not then pull up a chair. We hope you won't need to be here long, but we are here as long as you need us. And if you do have cancer then this is the place for you. Swear, rant, scream, laugh, cry... someone will have at least an inkling of what you're going through!

We only have one rule, which is do not Google. Though perhaps we should update that to please Google responsibly as few can resist completely!

I hope this thread will be a source of support for all who need it Flowers

Oh I bet it was lovely. Nothing nicer than a good choirSmile

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 10/12/2017 09:08

I'm not sure we are that good Blush but it's fun

It's snowing here so I expect most of you have snow too. Stay cosy!

iVampire · 10/12/2017 09:20

Yes, snow here.

The lovely friends who were meant to be coming over for lunch have had to cancel as they’ve had several inches and it’s still coming down hard for them,

So I’m snuggled in bed (with meds, breakfast and coffee) and not planning to move for a while. Definitely cosy!

I’ve been quite tired in the last couple of days, so good to have a lazy one

TwitterQueen1 · 10/12/2017 09:25

Why has everyone except me got snow?

oakthorn · 10/12/2017 10:01

Twitter I have no snow either and also sulking.

nickyplustwo · 10/12/2017 10:59

No snow here either TQ - just wazzing down and blowing a gale. Shame. Glad the choir went well Leslie and got you feeling Christmassy - our choir has a performance this afternoon too and I'm wondering about standing up for too long (and I can never hold the big notes without a few sneaky extra breaths!). Hopefully in the absence of the snow it will get us feeling festive. Hope everyone recovering from ops and treatment has a snuggly day.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 10/12/2017 11:12

iVampire it's a shame about your friend, but enjoy your snuggly day Xmas Smile

Sorry for causing snow envy! Though I bet mrsrhod has much better snow up the cold, cold north. It's raining now so mine will be gone soon, I think.

nicky enjoy your performance Star any chance of you getting a chair?

OP posts:
nickyplustwo · 10/12/2017 22:03

I liked your snowman Leslie - that was impressive! Our performance was fun and luckily our songs were mixed in with kids' performances so we got to sit down in between. A nice start to the festive season.
Hope everyone has a nice Sunday evening x

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 12/12/2017 09:57

I'm glad you enjoyed your performance nicky Xmas Smile my snowman is slowly melting!

I hope everyone is alright Flowers

Hi!

Checking in to say that basically I’m OK, but I have been so tired these past couple of days. I really hope I’m not coming down with something.

And I hope everyone else is having a nice, quiet, uneventful time

ggirl · 12/12/2017 22:21

iVampire sorry you're not feeling well , do you think it's a virus ?

iVampire · 12/12/2017 22:26

Maybe.

I’m not running a temperature, nor do I have any of the symptoms which mean I have to ring in (and possibly go in). I’m hoping it’s something and nothing. Just have to wait and see. I’m hoping for a good night’s sleep

ggirl · 12/12/2017 22:30

I hope you manage a good nights sleep and it is nothing serious..will be thinking of you , it must be worrying for you.

ILoveDolly · 12/12/2017 23:10

Hi everyone. Sadly signing up here as I had my operation and yes I do have lung cancer. So hello. I started a ranty moaning thread, was kindly directed to you guys x

iVampire · 13/12/2017 06:54

I posted on your thread Dolly

I am fairly recently diagnosed with a form of leukaemia (fortunately for me, the most treatable kind) so it’s fairly fresh in my mind just how difficult the very earliest days can be.

How long before they’ll be able to tell you if they want to zap/poison away any remnants?

ggirl I don’t think I’m coming down with anything - no symptoms emerging. But unfortunately I didn’t sleep well. I checked my lovely, scary side-effects leaflet and most unfairly both sleep disturbance and tiredness are known side effects,

TwitterQueen1 · 13/12/2017 08:40

Hi Dolly Glad to see you made it over here. Though obviously very sorry that you need to be here. I would say happy birthday but that's probably pretty unimportant to you right now. Try to enjoy it though. It will be a happy day for your children and they will want to spoil you - your DH too.

Hi Leslie how are you doing? I did see some snow in the end - I went to my sister's who is only around 8 miles away but higher up, so she had quite a lot.

I've spoken to HR and know what to do now - I don't need to instigate anything until after Christmas. My next consult appt is 5 Jan so I am expecting to start chemo again w/c 8th Jan.

nickyplustwo · 13/12/2017 09:46

Hope you feel better soon ivampire and just have 'normal' side effects and nothing more on top. There's so much lurgy around at the moment, it seems impossible to dodge - our house is like the Frog Chorus of coughing and sniffing!
Hello Dolly - I'm sorry you have to be here, but welcome. There are lots of people on here in similar situations and ranting is always ok, so hope you get the support, advice or just an outlet to vent, that you need.
I'm off to see my oncologist this afternoon; fingers crossed he lets me carry on with this chemo to the end of the course and has good and festive blood results for me. Cake to you all x

ILoveDolly · 13/12/2017 13:15

Hi everyone, thanks for your support. Hope you feel better ivampire
Saw my oncologist today and he's suggested I try a tablet treatment as a first resort, I forget its name right now, but not chemotherapy or immunotherapy yet. They seem to have found out quite a lot of interesting things from the histology so..... another CT coming up and then these pills. Sound good although he said they'll give me acne

ggirl · 13/12/2017 19:15

Ilove sounds good having a tablet instead of intravenous..hope they come up with a treatment plan for you soon ..its hard with all these unknowns but at least you're on your way to recovery now with the tumour removed.

ggirl · 13/12/2017 19:16

IVampire - oh side effects ? so nothing to worry about ? Hope you're getting the chance to sleep

TwitterQueen1 · 13/12/2017 19:47

Nicky What did the onc say? How are the bloods? Positive news I hope?

purpleunicorns · 13/12/2017 20:49

Hello to everyone who's joined this thread lately, it's not a nice one to have to join but people on here have great advice and everyone's really supportive Xmas Smile

Hope your feeling a bit better and get some decent sleep tonight vampire Cake* *

Speaking of sleep does anyone have any advice on sleeping tablets? The hospital have given me steroids which keep me awake for hours on end, I got prescribed diazepan from the doctor to help but it's having no effect whatsoever Xmas Sad I'm back at the doctors Friday morning and was wondering if there's any other tablets that anyone has tried that I can ask for?

Bettydownthehall · 13/12/2017 21:08

I was given zopiclone whilst waiting for results as I wasn't coping. They work so well but are quite addictive apparently, but then so is diazepam.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 14/12/2017 07:59

Good morning everyone

iVampire I hope you had a better night's sleep and aware feeling more perky today

ILoveDolly Flowers it's been ages since you first posted while waiting for a diagnosis. I'm sorry it's taken so long for you to get an answer, and that it wasn't a better answer! I'm glad your oncologist has a plan. Good luck for your CT scan.

nicky how was your oncology appointment? I hope you got the results you wanted Star

Twitter I'm good thank you. I seem to be developing a bit of a cough to go with my permanent cold, so I hope it goes away before my chemo next week Xmas Angry how are you? I'm glad you got a bit of snow! Good that you've got a break from work stuff and medical stuff over Christmas, though new chemo isn't exactly the start to New Year that one might hope for Xmas Hmm

ggirl how are you feeling? All set for your trip?

Betty have you started chemo yet?

purple are you on steroids all of the time or just for the first few days after chemo? You could ask about reducing the dose a bit, though they maybe reluctant. Like Betty I've found zopiclone very effective. I was prescribed it after surgery when I went a bit loopy from lack of sleep. I hope the doctor is helpful.

oakthorn and Mamia I hope you are both recovering well from your surgery Flowers

wombat how was your appointment with the surgeon? Do you have a date for your op? Flowers

Sketchily have you had your results yet?

LittleGreyCat I hope you're getting plenty of rest and starting to recover from the radiotherapy Flowers

Love to everyone, and to any lurkers too! Have a good day everyone Xmas Smile

purpleunicorns · 14/12/2017 09:16

Thanks Betty I'll ask about those tomorrow. Yes Leslie, I have them 3 days after each chemo, I don't want to reduce them if they're obviously going to help me but I'm starting to lose the plot at the lack of sleep Xmas Confused
