thanks indiemummy,
My dd started patching about 5 months of age with almost no sight in her bad eye, just shout if you need any help, we were given splints for her arms to stop her pulling the patch off! only used them once though.

I found building the patching up in time, each day helped as its really hard on them when your effectivly making them blind.

Also the younger the child is the quicker the response the we patched intensivly to begin with and then the weak eye swinched so we had to start patching the other eye!
so we had to have her eyes checked weekly for ages.
I do hope you get on ok, My dd is now 3.6 and doesn't wear a patch or glasses any more (at the moment)and has really good vision she hasn't got binocular vision but this doesn't hold her back.
Never imagined we'd get her eyes this good, you would never know she's ever had anything wrong with her eyes.
Good luck

Carol, how did you find out so early your DD needed patching? We didn't find out until DS was 4 and learned to wink. He was able to tell me he couldn't see me out of one eye.

dd was born really cross eyed so was noticable from birth and she was refered at her 6 week check.
We were first seen by the eye people when she was 8 weeks. So because she was so cross eyed, her brain could only focus on using one eye so the other one became very weak. But her congenital conversiant (sp) squint is more unusal I think.
