Weird symptoms - please help diagnose me

I feel cold and achey all over as if coming down with a heavy cold - but no other cold symptoms.

My fingers are swollen. Not hugely, but noticeably. My fingers and wrists are particularly achey.

I have a rash on my lower legs, but nowhere else. It looks like shaving rash, but I had all my leg hairs lasered off ages ago so haven't shaved in weeks. The rash doesn't blanch with pressure.

Slight fever, well controlled with Ibuprofen.

The symptoms have lasted for 48 hours so far, largely unchanged.

Is this anything to worry about?

AP. Are you on any medication?

flissfloss65 · 28/04/2017 18:32

Can you go to your pharmacy and get them to check it? Supermarket ones are open until 8pm.

ChaChaChaCh4nges · 28/04/2017 18:34

No, not on any medication.

No, i can't easily get to a pharmacy. Not without dragging all the kids out with me.

Another question. Do you dye your hair?

Iambubbles86 · 28/04/2017 18:36

The non blanching rash only on the legs and swelling is typical of HSP. It does need medical attention as the swelling could be symptomatic of it reaching your kidneys (try not to worry, its mostly a self limiting illness) please do see someone though. If it is that you will need to be monitored closely for a month with blood pressure and urine checks for blood and protein (weekly checks with doctors) and then further sporadic monitoring for a year.

I'm so sorry but I have to leave this thread. I recently had a breakdown after my son was diagnosed with this (he is doing fine by the way) but I can't risk relapsing by getting too involved.

Please get medical advice

InfinityPlusOne · 28/04/2017 18:37

OP stop asking here and ring 111

ChaChaChaCh4nges · 28/04/2017 18:41

Iambubbles86 (and everyone) - thank you for taking the time to post.

Yes, I dye my hair, but haven't since early March.

I'll call 111 when the DCs are in bed.

Is the rash really noticeable and unusual for you ? It doesn't sound that worrying to me, apart from the presence of the rash. Best to call out of hours and ask them to assess.

ChaChaChaCh4nges · 28/04/2017 18:46

The rash is unusual for me, but I would say less red than it was yesterday. It's not raised at all.

My fingers bother me more than the rash, TBH, but if I posted a photo I suspect they just look like normal pudgy hands!

Can you remember what you ate before the symptoms started?

ChaChaChaCh4nges · 28/04/2017 18:48

Here. There's a shadow falling across my hand which is why my fingers look paler than my hand itself.

A falafel, hummus, pepper and feta wrap. From the cafe at work. Something I've had a hundred times before.

Allergy to the ibuprofen?

MrsOs · 28/04/2017 18:52

Ring 111 OP please x

ChaChaChaCh4nges · 28/04/2017 18:52

Could be, although I've not need allergic to ibuprofen before. I'll switch to paracetamol.

If it's been 48 hours and not getting worse you can wait and certainly don't need accident and emergency.

loveyoutothemoon · 28/04/2017 18:55

Something autoimmune probably. I think you need to be seen tonight, especially with the non blanching rash.

SomedayMyPrinceWillCome · 28/04/2017 19:02

Have a look at the NHS web page about vasculitis - can cause symptoms similar to yours

Villagernumber9 · 28/04/2017 21:21

Hi. This has me stumped. Have you managed to phone 111 yet?

Fettuccinecarbonara · 28/04/2017 21:23

Toxic shock?

3luckystars · 28/04/2017 21:25

Hyperthyroidism or Graves' disease?

Go to the pharmacist or doctor.

ChaChaChaCh4nges · 29/04/2017 06:41

I have an appointment first thing this morning.
