IUD loss, heavy bleeding, tranexamic acid

I lost my mirena during an extreme flooding episode. I've been put on a high dose of tranexamic acid, but am still having (smaller) episodes of flooding. Is this normal? I've taken 3G of TA since yesterday.
Im not clear on how long this takes to work?
Also I don't have a scan for another 3 weeks so I am feeling anxious about what has caused this sudden issue which began about 8 weeks ago?
Also now I don't know what to do about the IUD, GP wants to put it back in at some point. It really had helped give me smaller periods (they didn't stop) but losing it for no apparent reason has really put me off having another

I didn't find TA worked for me at all in reducing blood loss - had Mirena put in for this reason although that isn't really working either!

Did you have any problems with Mirena before it came out?

No, for almost exactly 1 year no issues at all although I still had periods they were shorter and lighter than before. Suddenly I flooded when my period began 8 weeks ago, culminating in the IUD being expelled this week when the flooding reached a whole new level, even post birth!
What i am having now is not a period anymore. It started as a period on the due date but now 1. There are no period pains, just left sided ?ovarian pain, 2, it completely subsides during flooding every 12 to 24 hours. A doctor I saw as an emergency wondered whether something had happened in the womb that had caused a bleed then the clot keeps dislodging, hence the flood then nothing.

I wondered if anyone had had an IUD move and cause damage? It seems so unlikely it's not very big or sharp is it? I think now it was in my vaginal canal for a few days as I could feel 'something' uncomfortable and assumed it was clots or something like I was irritated from wiping. When it finally came out (in my hand) it brought out so much blood that wouldn't stop for about an hour.

When they palapate my uterus it doesn't hurt and they haven't said they found anything they can feel (but I have the scan).

All my bloods were fine apart from iron levels and they queried that my blood wasn't clotting too well hence the TA being given. I wasn't pregnant I don't have any infection. The one thing I have noticed is that my bladder is clearly under pressure. I can't stop weeing even dribble amounts.

The pressure increased and increased on my bladder and I swelled up all bloated over the past 2 days. Going to the loo was agonising. I carried on passing clots then after the last one (50p size maybe?) the pressure vanished.
This is all so weird

Don't put it in again
Don't want to make you nervous but it can also go through the uterus and then you need surgery to take it out.

Why are your periods heavy? Maybe look up how to treat heavy periods I could send you a link if you like? Let me know
And if you do all those things then that diet should help with heavy periods

Drs couldn't find my iud strings and sent me for a scan and it was exactly in the same place after that I pulled the stupid thing out. No more anxiety

14 days in now to the period from hell, finally feeling more normal again. I cannot believe how much blood I have lost. I have had a million panic attacks and found it hard to leave the house. I have no idea what's wrong with me and what will happen next month (feel sick at the thought)

I don't know if I could face having the IUD back in ever again

It didn't perforate - I have no severe pain or anything. I've had physical examinations and the like. The IUD def fell out as I pulled it out when I felt something there.
I have had investigations before for heavy periods and there was literally no reason for them

There is a special diet for heavy periods which ca help
Things like green leafy veg
Dates
Nuts

Thanks I will see what happens with the scan and then possibly the diet. I am seeing GP too for more medication options for next month

don't worry about pulling it out,....when I pulled my copper coil out it was quite easy to come out during period days and it was quite small t shaped with long threads....

poor you I hope the heavy periods get sorted for you....i also used to have them heavy but now that I eat more veg...and hoping to start exercise

Like I said on Saturday I think the worst seemed to pass, the clots went and the pressure. I have slight spotting now but generally pretty normal until earlier on when I had a few hours of back pain which didn't feel like my usual back pain and radiated down my leg and across my abdomen on the left side. That's now also passed.

I got my scan moved to Thursday and GP next week to ask for some more TA to take next period - hoping taking it on day 1 will help rather than day 10!

Is this because of iud falling out? I mean all the symptoms?

I don't know. I have no way of knowing whether the IUD dislodged and caused damage or if there is something sinister in my womb

Not when the mirena was working properly but before that they were heavier than average

okay dont worry it will be fine. I also had them heavy when I was younger. sometimes they still are . good to get the scan done.
