What (else) could cause breast tenderness?

HarlotsWeb · 11/12/2016 15:31

Breasts have been tender for a month (on removing bra and if pressed). It feels a bit like the day before my period, except it has been going on for much longer. Periods are very irregular, and my last one was in September. Unlikely to be pregnancy. Do I need to get them checked out?

Following as I'm in the same boat, but been 2/3 weeks.

WreckTangled · 12/12/2016 19:36

I have the same. I would say they are painful three out of four weeks roughly. I just assume it's hormonal Xmas Confused they're so painful I have to hold them when I walk down the stairs (and they're not big!)

Honeydragon · 12/12/2016 19:37

Unexplained breast pain is an actual thing. Because sometimes breasts just like to be bastards. Evening primerose oil is supposed to help amongst other things.

makingyourmindup123 · 12/12/2016 19:38

I've got fibroids at the moment and also convinced I might be peri menopause. They look the same, no lumps or thickening so I do wonder whether it is hormonal and just one of those things Hmm

makingyourmindup123 · 12/12/2016 19:39

Oooo Honey I'll give evening primrose a go :-) thanks

SoapyChoc · 12/12/2016 19:41

I've had blood tests lately for fertility issues and turned out to have high prolactin and am awaiting an endocrinology appointment. Symptoms include sore breasts and irregular periods. May be worth a trip to the gp if it carries on.

Maverickismywingman · 12/12/2016 19:41

caffeine intake can cause breast pain.
As can poorly fitting bras and, in my case, tummy sleeping.

Any worries or doubt though, GP ASAP

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 12/12/2016 19:42

Second vote for evening primrose. In fact my gp recommends it every time ai go and get my tender boobs checked. That reminds me, I've run out, must get some more < prods boobs >

makingyourmindup123 · 12/12/2016 19:42

Just stopped caffeine but I always sleep on my tummy and my bras are rubbish Angry

fassbender · 12/12/2016 19:43

Sounds random but my breast is linked to caffeine and wine Confused consumption i.e too much of either

Honeydragon · 12/12/2016 19:43

Yup .... boob clinic lady told me to ease up on the caffeine when my boobs hurt.

fassbender · 12/12/2016 19:43

My breast pain, I mean!

Fass- after drinking wine, the next day they are always sore! Thought I was imagining it!

WreckTangled · 12/12/2016 19:47

I don't think I could cope without coffee! Mine seem swollen too but I don't know if they are or if they just feel it.

makingyourmindup123 · 12/12/2016 19:49

I thought that but it's been 6 weeks and feel much better for having not had caffeine

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 12/12/2016 19:52

< was going to put rubs boobs but didn't want to make it into that sort of thread > Grin

makingyourmindup123 · 12/12/2016 20:01

Lol Shotgun Grin

HarlotsWeb · 12/12/2016 20:13

Oh I think there's always room for a boob rub...

I don't drink that much alcohol or caffeine really, because clearly I am a paragon of virtuous living. I have been wondering if it could be perimenopause (but also not really wanting to think about that as a possibility).

How old are you Harlots? I'm 42

User543212345 · 12/12/2016 20:27

fass and making I have the wine issue too. It blew my mind when I made the link. Takes a good while to subside too - even one glass can make them tender for a week.

228agreenend · 12/12/2016 20:27

I've had boob pain and I was told by the dr it was hormonal. If would definitely get it checked. Have you any other symptoms such as itchiness etc?

228agreenend · 12/12/2016 20:29

I never knew about the alcohol and boob pain link. May have to have a controlled experiment...hiccupWine

makingyourmindup123 · 12/12/2016 20:30

Sweary - I wonder why there is a connection - it's weird!

228 - no other symptoms and believe me I'm looking out for them!!
