Pain in right ovary??

Bexicle22 · 08/12/2016 16:57

I'm getting a stabbing pain in my right ovary (or where I'm guessing my ovary is!) but only when I go for a wee. I'm on birth control so not ovulating and as someone who has suffered with recurrent cystitis and UTI's in the past, I don't think it's either of those. I've had no burning or stinging, no desperate urge to pee every 5 minutes, no blood in my urine, no bladder/kidney pain. The pain literally only comes when I go for a wee! It's only been doing it since yesterday but it's been every time I've gone for a wee that it's happened. The pain eases very very slightly if I press down on the area with my hand but it's still fairly painful even then. Does anyone have any idea what it might be and whether it's worth a drs visit?

Anyone? :(

I don't think I'll be much help but didn't went to read and run. I have an ovarian cyst and get pain but generally not when I go for a wee more if I don't go! If it lasts more than a couple of weeks I'd say have a quick chat with you GP. Hugs and Flowers

Thank you for your reply :) I suffer with bad health anxiety so I'm panicking it's something really terrible. It's weird because the pain only happens when I pee, I just can't think why only then! I suppose a cyst might make sense. I will maybe leave it at least until after the weekend and speak to a GP if it's still there x

Ovarian cysts are very common and some do cause pain, they can also press on your bladder I believe could well be related. Sorry to hear you suffer with anxiety, but I'm sure it'll be something simple

Bexicle22 · 08/12/2016 21:24

Thank you, I hope so :) I do have a dull ache in the same area the rest of the time but not the pain. I'm just trying my best not to google

I often have a dull ache, and the more you think about it the more you notice it. No don't google you can match your symptoms to most things when you do!! See your GP and put your mind at rest :-)

Bexicle22 · 08/12/2016 21:40

Thanks Hun, you've put my mind at ease a little Flowers

Smile let me know how you get on x

I have endometriosis and have a similar pain. Ask your GP about that when you go (and don't let them tell you you need loads of symptoms like heavy, painful periods to have endometriosis because you don't!).

venys · 08/12/2016 21:58

This may make you worry but I had a blood clot that started a little like this. Thought I had pulled a muscle on my side then over a few days the pain went into my ovary (although weeing didn't affect it). It wasn't until one day I woke with my leg swelling up in unimaginable pain that they diagnosed a blood clot. Maybe call 111 and see if they recommend an out of hours appointment??

Bexicle22 · 08/12/2016 22:04

My first thought actually was endometriosis but then I thought that I haven't had any heavy or irregular bleeding and no fertility problems but I guess they aren't definitive symptoms. I'm still getting a dull ache, almost like a throbbing right now while I'm sitting in bed. I may give them a call in the morning if things haven't improved overnight. I'm just a little anxious at the location of the pain and how suddenly it came on yesterday :/

Venys, that does sound scary! Glad you managed to get that sorted out. The pain I'm having as I pee is almost as if there's a balloon in my ovary being blown up, sounds odd but it's kind of like a pressure pain. Was the pain you had similar?

I had this when I had endometriosis cysts in my ovaries. I had DC without issues despite having endo. Doesn't always go hand in hand with fertility problems.

Bexicle22 · 08/12/2016 23:26

I think I'm going to call the drs in the morning. I'm guessing that whatever it is, it's best to catch it early!

Did you manage to see your GP?

Bexicle22 · 09/12/2016 20:39

I did, thank you for asking :) he thought it was an infection of some kind. He did an examination of my abdomen, all the prodding and poking etc and said that he's not particularly worried about it being anything like appendicitis. He's given me a 3 day course of antibiotics and sent my urine sample off to be properly looked at. Hopefully it is just an infection and nothing else!

DubiousCredentials · 09/12/2016 20:44

Hope the antibiotics sort it out then.

WhereYouLeftIt · 09/12/2016 20:51

I would still consider endo. Quite a bit of the pain I experienced was around an ovary, and behold, a laparotomy showed a lot of lesions around that ovary. As for it being a dull ache most of the time but pain when you pee - to pee you have to contract your bladder, that could 'pull' on other structures, particularly if the lesions have formed adhesions - sticking two structures together that would normally glide over each other. (Can you tell I had quite a few adhesions?)

Bexicle22 · 09/12/2016 22:23

Thank you :) if the antibiotics don't work, I'm definitely going straight back to the drs. I know a few people who have endo and pain in the ovary was their first symptom.

Ha they thought my.pain was an ovarian infection at one point as.well. But the pain I felt was more like I pulled a muscle. Definitely make.sure you keep on top of it until you.have a definitive answer and treatment. Hope the abs work though and you get better.

Bexicle22 · 10/12/2016 23:57

I think he said a bladder infection as it's right near the ovaries. I'm still getting the pain when I go for a wee but it doesn't seem quite as intense as before. Hopefully it's nothing and the tablets work but I'll be straight back there looking for answers if not!

Ask Dr Mumsnet Wink

Bexicle22 · 11/12/2016 21:20

I genuinely thought I was dying earlier. Went out, my abdomen was feeling really heavy and uncomfortable, my lower back pain got worse, I got lightheaded and dizzy and had shortness of breath and I could barely even walk. I had to go back to the car and sit down. I felt so ill that I almost went to the hospital but I came home first and it did all ease off and I feel much better than I did this afternoon now, aside from the odd sharp pain in my ovary and a tiny bit of cramping (took some ibuprofen) I'm so confused as to what's going on! I'm still going back to the drs tomorrow.

Any news?

RodMunch · 12/12/2016 16:24

I had the same a couple of years ago, it went on for weeks, I had wee samples and nothing, so they sent me for a scan as they thought I may have ovarian cysts. But nothing was found, so they think I maybe had just the one cyst that had burst. Been fine since although I do get ovulation pain every month. Only lasts a few hours though.

I am sure its nothing to worry about x
