Found a lump in breast

Came back from holiday yesterday and noticed quite a large lump in my right breast last night.

Now I'm worrying because I can't help it.

No history of breast cancer in the family and I'm 31. Now I can't stop messing with it.

Sounds a stupid question but do I make an emergency gp appointment on Monday morning?

So many close family and friends have had cancer in the last 2 years so I can't help thinking the worst.

Yes, make an appointment. Go and get it checked. I had this, was referred to hospitsl where i had a mammogram (uncomfortable but bearable) and it was cysts (harmless). It's worth getting checked out quickly as the sooner your seen the better, and at least you'll know. I was in a right state worrying about worst case scenarios, horrible to drag that out when you can be seen quickly.

Yep go to your GP on monday. You'll be seen within 2 weeks at the breast clinic. 9/10 lumps are benign so its simply a case of reassurance for most women. Mine was a cyst which they drained there and then. The releif!!!!!!!

I was given the option of not having mine drained at the time, and it went away by itself after a few months, but there's no way i could have lived with having a lump if i didn't KNOW it was harmless. Better to know for sure.

Ok. It's crazily hard to get an emergency apt at my Drs, even worse on a Monday but I will be hanging off the phone as soon as they open.

Are you near an out of hours walk-in clinic? If so, have the lump checked out tomorrow.

I had a largish smooth lump suddenly appear and it was a cyst which the GP drained there and then, he said it may fill up again but it never did. Hopefully yours is the same.

Breast lumps don't need to be checked by OOH, because they are not going to get worse in 24 hours. It is better to see your own GP who can refer you to the breast clinic if necessary xx

Saw the dr this morning. He said it's quite a large lump but seems to be well within the tissue and not pulling on the skin, which would be a sign of it being cancerous. Said it might be to do with ovulation as I've not noticed it before and asked if I wanted to wait and see if it goes or did I want a referral.

I've chosen to have a referral now as I'm not one to sit and wait anything out. Hopefully that will come through soon.

It's stupid but I feel relieved that he agreed it's a lump and also biggish, because I wondered if I was just being dramatic.

Think that's the right decision to make then it will put your mind at rest. I've been worrying since last Wednesday after a mammogram ( early trailing of them and l had no reason to go i.e.no lump) found an abnormality in one. I've been this morning for further tests and I'll have to wait till this Wednesday for the result as a lump/ mass was found. Just knowing rather than worrying about everything has got to be better. Good luck x

Good for you for going for the referral. I think there is a standard ' seen in two weeks' timeframe for this. Was went I went. Every hcp I saw thru out from GP , to consultant to mammogram lady, to man who took the scan and told me it was a cyst all said that all breast lumps should be checked and you would never be wasting an apt etc.

I had a breast lump the other day I pushed it into my rib cage and it popped. No idea what it was but I'm ok

Hey, had to comment as im the same age and had the same issue a month ago.

I found a lump in my left breast, a big one. I freaked and cried and overreacted so bad that I made myself ill. My mum saw how bad I was a paid for private biopsy the next day.

It turned out to be a Fibroid, nothing to worry about. Im 32 hun

Please don't worry yourself until you know

Artyfarty555 I feel for you and really hope everything comes back clear. You are right about rather knowing than not- no way could I just ride it out.

I can totally understand getting so worked up worrying Stef and glad to hear all was ok for you. Gives me some reassurance too.

I am going to try my best to put it out of my mind until the appointment. Husband has said he can WFH too to look after our little ones, which will make it a bit easier for me.

Iwokeuplikethis, ..pleased you have support of other half, it does make a difference. I didn't want mine to know l was worried...but due to a very tearful weekend...i guess he knew!😂 and luckily he could take the morning off work. I've got my fingers,toes and legs crossed for Wednesday .. And I'm sending big hugs to you for your appointment xx

I don't see the consultant till 18:15 and that's if they're running on time...but will let you know if you want to know.. And yes, my hubby is my rock. He stays cool,calm and collected and has been so supportive these past few years. Think, he's a " keeper"!!😉 x will post on Wednesday,whatever the news xxx

Sorry so late in posting...but it's been a roller coaster of a night. I rang the breast clinic before l left home to check results were back and l was told that the results weren't conclusive...and l would have to wait till Monday. They are being sent back or are still at the pathology lab. So, l have to worry some more, til Monday.

Oh arty, more waiting for you ☹️ What did they do at your screening? Did you have a scan?
I have got my scan and any other necessary procedures next Wednesday. Trying to forget about it as best I can but it is on my mind a lot.

On Monday l had 2 further mammograms on my left boob where they had seen something suspicious from the original one. Then l had an ultrasound scan and l could see the mass / lump on the screen..it wasn't big, she said about 5mm . Several needle biopsies were taken ...it didn't hurt and the doctor was lovely. Those biopsies went to pathology and the results should have been back yesterday. I rang before travelling as they suggested that you check first...and the nurse said the results weren't conclusive..so she couldn't help!! And Tha they'd gone back or were still at pathology..so shocked that l didn't take it in really. So, the results will be available on Monday...felt so upset as everyone had fingers crossed and l had to txt to say..l didn't know...just tired about the whole thing. I do want results that are correct...and its just a few more days..but its been 2 long weeks since l knew there were" abnormalities"... Xxx procedures weren't as painful as the mammogram and l felt at least l was being pro active..
