Please help. Quickly. My eyesight has gone weird

My eye was twitching for about a week and my eyes felt sore and dry

I went to the opticians who did a full check up. Said I may have jabs an infection though everything was ok now except very dry eyes

He gave me optrex for infected eyes drops. Started then 2 days ago

About 5 mins ago out of no where there was a blurred spot in my vision

It's grown and my eye sight is about 50% blurred.

All around the edges of the blurrwd is colourful and moving

I'm really scared

Sounds like an ocular migraine. Should resolve within the hour. If it doesn't see your optician today.

Since you've been having g eye problems I'd say go to your emergency eye hospital. But to me it sounds like a migraine aura. I usually lie down in dark room for an hour. Bright lights, phones etc bring mine on.

Without the previous eye problems, I'd err on the side of ocular migraine but given the "run up" I'd certainly get it checked iut

Sounds like a migraine to me. I totally lose my vision gradually and have zig zags around my peripheral vision. It can be really scary. If I take pink Migraleve as soon as it starts it usually stops it getting worse. Definitely go to gp though to get checked out.

Go to a and e or the eye hospital if there's one nearby. May be an ocular migraine, but could be a detached retina in which case you'd need emergency surgery.

Hospital now. Ocular migraine rarely has colour. I'd be worried about a retinal detachment.

My vision goes like this when I get a migraine. It was terrifying the first time (and still is, really!) but given the problems you've already been having I would definitely get it checked just to be sure. Hope you're ok Flowers

Ocular migraine rarely has colour.

Mine do. It's like looking through a faceted diamond with the white light splitting into the spectrum colours.

I get ocular migraines and they are sort of colourful zig zags, but given it's a first instance and your history definitely seek medical advice. Optician probably better than the GP, or ring the eye hospital if you have one and ask their advice? Sometimes you can self refer for urgent issues.

It starts off with a blurred spot which starts to sparkle and grow and the slowly clears from the centre until it is gone. Usually takes less than a hour.

Soupdragon you're quite right- sorry, my mistake. It's the aura of classic migraine I'm thinking of.

I'm still worried re retinal detachment though- best get checked OP.

I also thought that migraine was both eyes?

I've had ocular / aura migraine in one or both eyes. It usually takes 20 minutes to spread and fade. Hope that's what it is OP and that it has gone now. I was terrified when it first happened but apparently not a sign of anything problematic.

Have u got pins and needles in your face too I've had these too with aurora migranes (not sure on spelling) very scary. You need to see a doc or ring 101. Hope you're ok OP Flowers

Those steering OP towards ocular migraine assumption, I know you mean well but it's really dangerous! If it's a retinal detachment OP could lose the sight in the eye within hours.

i get migraine aura for hours only in my left eye - 2-3 hour of rainbows then i go totally blind in that eye for several hours.

Do you have an eye hospital locally? If not, I think A&E is your best option, they should be able to call on an eye doctor to see you. Your optician would be good but given your symptoms they're likely to send you to A&E.

Hoping you get it sorted out Flowers - I found my first ocular migraine terrifying, i was convinced i had a brain tumour! I was only 17!!

Was a migrane. My head started. I abandoned the kids with sandwiches and went to bed.

Vision is fine now.

I've never had anythibg like it in my life. I thought I was going to die Blush
