Preferably something that won't involve equipment, and preferably not something with a soap star in it.

Please bear in mind that i have no co-ordination, so flashy dancey /aerobic malarkys will just end in me falling over!

Need to get some exercise, and thought it may be helpful for when DS napping in the afternoon.

Davina power of 3,

its only 30 minutes, 3 x a week

you can use weights but i used 2 packets of 500g lentils (hehe) or you can use nothing

its great

Millie1 · 03/02/2007 20:25

Davina gets my vote too!

DetentionGrrrl · 04/02/2007 09:42

sounds good- i shall give it a try!

Have 2 Davina ones, the power of 3 and the 3 30 minute workouts, but not used them yet, but have heard they are good.
Love Nell McAndrews Ultimate challenge, but it's a killer. BUt really easy to follow, no dancing, more jogging on the spot, etc...!
Beverly Callard is also brilliant, and esepcially good for a beginner. Easy to follow.
For the Nell McAndrews and the Beverly Callard one you can use weights, but don't have too...however, for BC I would, otherwise the exercises seem a bit tooo easy, iykwim...but tins of beans will do.

3andnomore · 05/02/2007 20:12

Well, did the Davinas Power of 3 DVD today, did the whole workout, takes about 1 hour and it was fabulous...bit like Nell McAndrews in style, but not quite as knackering, but still hard work
Really enjoyed it

3andnomore · 06/02/2007 14:28

well, a day on and I ache all over, but my legs are the worst...ouch...I am in sooo much pain...how is that possible? I mean, I have done Nell's and found them harder but had hardly any pain...it doesn't make sesne at all, sigh...lets hope the ole saying" no pain no gain " is true...

DetentionGrrrl · 06/02/2007 15:21

have bought both Davina workouts...will be starting it tomorrow

OP posts:
3andnomore · 06/02/2007 15:36

Getentiongrrrl....lol...I shall do a DVD tomorrow, but doubt I actually will be able to do teh Davina one tomorrow, lol...so, will probably do the Beverly Callard one I have....and go with Davina again on Friday, or maybe Tae Bo, lol

margo1974 · 06/02/2007 15:38

did you stretch properly afterwards? very important to stretch, less chance of aches

margo1974 · 06/02/2007 15:39

and give your body enough time to recover from the first session

3andnomore · 06/02/2007 15:43

Margo, I did the stretches from the DVD, which I assume should be enough...might not have been....like I said, I shall see what I do tomorrow, if I am still unable to walk properly ( I mean, honest, trying to get up and down the stairs is difficult, and I have a very high painthreshold, lol), then I mihgt just go for a walk rather then doing a DVD, however, have done the Beverly Callard one a fair bit and foind it usually easy enough anyway.

3andnomore · 06/02/2007 15:44

OH, am aiming for 3 times a week with teh exercise.

speedymama · 07/02/2007 12:49

I have just ordered this by Keli Roberts because the reviews have been excellent. If you only have 10 minutes to spare, you can get an effective workout. The 10 minute fat burning blast is suppose to be killer and the ab workout is really effective as is the thigh work out. I already have her step and cardio workouts on video and they are excellent so I know I won't be disappointed!

3andnomore · 07/02/2007 14:43

looks good speedy, sounds like Tae Bo though, and got lots of those, which I like.
P.S. Could not face Exercising today....my legs are not as bad as yesterday, but decided a hot bath would do my muscles more good then exercise, lol....how odd though, the only place I am hurting is my legs and bum (only a lil bit)

speedymama · 07/02/2007 16:43

I have several Tae Bo too. Have you got the Get Ripped one? The hour long kickboxing workout is awesome. I did it 3 days in a row last week and could hardly walk at the weekend(lol).

I thought I would get this because I like the variety of a different trainer. I'll let you know if it is any good.

3andnomore · 07/02/2007 16:51

yeah, I have got the get ripped one...it is good I vary my workouts allround, got Tae Bo, Nell McAndrews, Beverly Callard (for my weak days, lol), Davina's, Salssacise (which I don't like, tbh, even though I thought I would, lol) , ther Personal trainer dvd, which is a bit shite, lol, and 2 Micah ones.

speedymama · 07/02/2007 19:54

Ahh, Micah-Bo. Use to have it but Micah irritates me.

Another one you might be interested in is David Kirsch's Bootcamp. He trains Heidi Klum and Liv Tyler. It combines weigts and cardio and I would say it is one level down from the advance Tae Bo workout on Get Ripped.

TBH, don't know why I am buying this new one, I have so many that I now spend 5 minutes just trying to decide which one to use.

3andnomore · 07/02/2007 20:17

lol...yeah not keen on Micahs one, but got them in a poundshop...it's not Micah bo, though, they are something else, can't remember the title....lol

Othersideofthechannel · 07/02/2007 20:27

3andnomore - have been doing Davina's Power of 3 once a week for 4 months now and it doesn't hurt anymore. Serios pain for two days after each session the first for or five times. Especially the stairs!

DetentionGrrrl · 08/02/2007 09:27

did the 'core stability' section last night. My thighs and arms hurt, which is excellent!

Can't believe how much less fit i am since having DS!

I am going to be so toned for my wedding / honeymoon...bring it on!!!!

OP posts:
speedymama · 08/02/2007 09:54

Davina's Power of 3 is excellent. I thought I would be bored doing the Core Stability but because you have to concentrate and focus on your breathing, it is quite challenging and I do enjoy it.

Another DVD that I recently purchased is Pilates Abs Workout which is 30 minutes focused solely on the ab region. Its very good and very intense!

3andnomore · 08/02/2007 10:11

osotc...glad I am not the only one that experienced that problem then...but how deceiving it is, lol....but I suppose those wobbly legs on the day should have given me an idea of what was in store for me the next day, lololol!
speedy, that pilates one looks very good I used to do the Crunch Video, which was solely abs, and loved it, but we don't have a video player downstairs anymore, and upstairs there just isn't the space
My abs do need the most work, especially after ys, as I had a C-section with him and my belly looks worse tehn ever, lol!

speedymama · 08/02/2007 10:18

3andnomore, I have the crunch video too!. I think our collections must be very similar.

DimpledThighs · 08/02/2007 11:24

just out of interest when do you do your workout am or pm?

How do you motivate yourself to do it?

speedymama · 08/02/2007 11:33

If I'm working out to DVDs, I do it first thing in the morning and sometimes my DTS will join in. Similarly, I go running early morning (mainly weekends) before I get my DTS up. If I'm at work (I work 3 days a week), I go to the gym after work for a quick workout at least once a week before I pick the boys up from nursery. Also, I have been getting up about 5.45am on my working days just to do abs exercises, press ups and tricep dips.

It just depends on my circumstances. DH will be away for several days soon so I plan to do more workouts in the evening after I have put the boys to bed and before I have my dinner.
