WB, when my dd had pneumonia she was tested for CF too, it is justa precautionary measure.

tortoiseshell · 01/12/2006 16:00

((hug)) WB. If it's any comfort, I had ds2 at the GP this morning because of a recurrent cough, and she said 'are you worried about CF because of GB?' (which I wasn't), but she said they are keeping more of an eye open because it's in the media.

It'll probably be ok, and good to rule it out, and if she did have it, it's much better to know and be able to treat it than to leave it. I'm sure she'll be fine. xxx

emkana · 01/12/2006 16:00

How old is dd?

I think quite a few children have lots of chest infections and don't have CF.

Obviously I can't say it will be okay, but don't give up hope!!!

WelshBoris · 01/12/2006 16:01

My mum wants me to google it but I feel sick I cant do it

Don't Google it. You only get worst case scenario that way.

emkana · 01/12/2006 16:01

What has she been like in terms of weight gain?

PortAndLemonaid · 01/12/2006 16:02

Poor mite (and poor you). No wonder you are worried. I wish they could see you sooner and stop the uncertainty . How is she feeling now?

PortAndLemonaid · 01/12/2006 16:03

Don't google it, really. Time for that if she does have it (which, from what you've said, sounds relatively unlikely).

tortoiseshell · 01/12/2006 16:03

I agree, don't google! Does she taste salty when you kiss her and are her poos ok?

WelshBoris · 01/12/2006 16:04

her weight gain is fine

im going to go now im crying and keep seeing the words in front og my face

zippitippitoes · 01/12/2006 16:04

Probably not a good idea to google, too much information and too confusing.

If she does have CF then it's good for her to be diagnosed, but hopefully it will be a precaution only and she will be negative.

Is she getting back to her old self.

Blove to you

xxx

tortoiseshell · 01/12/2006 16:05

emkana · 01/12/2006 16:06

WB

I think it's a very good sign that she has been gaining well.

Don't google under any circumstances! I did with ds and I wish the Internet had never been invented!
(Even though I don't mean that really because of MN)

AllieBongo · 01/12/2006 16:07

babe, i'll be here later if you need to talk. i'm sure it's just precautionary, they always have to cover their backs x

Dottydot · 01/12/2006 16:12

Thinking of you... It's really good that she doesn't have any of the other symptoms - hopefully just precautionary. Doesn't stop you worrying though - hope the time passes quickly for you.xxx

pageturner · 01/12/2006 16:18

Ds2 has been tested for cf recently. It gave me the horrors when the doctor said they were going to do it. I really don't think he has it, but the dr explained that they needed to rule it out as the treatment is completely different.

We don't have the results yet, go back on the 13th. Please don't worry, I'm sure it's a precautionary measure. And definitely don't google: I looked on nhs direct and that was bad enough.

foundintranslation · 01/12/2006 16:20

Oh WB, so very sorry you've got this worry too. Did the doctor explain why s/he wants the test done?

I probably can't be all that much use but CAT me if you want to sound off.

Piffle · 01/12/2006 16:21

Wb have been thinking about you today
I really hope your dd is ok honey

bundle · 01/12/2006 16:35

WB I'm so sorry to hear about this, it probably is just to rule it out, fingers crossed for you, xxxx

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 01/12/2006 17:15

WB - it's a precaution when they've had pneumonia. Hopefully it'll be just fine. Thinking of you.

Heartmum2Jamie · 01/12/2006 19:30

It's definately precautionary. My ds was tested for cf on no fewer than 4 occassions (couldn't get an accutrate reading because of his eczema). In his case, it wasn't for chest infections but FTT. Definately DON'T google. Hugs
