This may seem a strange question, but have you ever emptied a potty and thought ?OMG what the hell is that!? My ds2 (nearly 3) had a wee this evening and in the bottom of the potty was this brown object about the size of a 5p piece, but it looked like it had a long tail. Now this is the third time over a few months I?ve seen this in his potty. The first time I thought he may have swallowed a hair and the poo had sort of entwined around it, IYSWIM.

I've googled for images under worms and parasites (and will never do it again on a full stomach, some of those pictures are disgusting! YEUGH!!!) but not found anything similar.

Anybody got idea what it could be????

It just sounds like funny-shaped poo, tbh. You get a better look at it in the pot than you do in a toilet, iyswim. Unless he's ill, I wouldn't worry about it.

nqc - But it's such a tinny winny poo, and he hasn't asked for a poo or asked me to wipe his bum! However, as you say, he isn't ill, but.....it just doesn't look right. I don't think I'm a neourotic mum, he's only been to the docs once in 3 years. Maybe that's why I'm worried.

Well, you either have two options, imo. You can either stop checking, or be brave, next time you see one of these, and take it apart. You can use a little wooden stick maybe? Or something else you're happy to throw out - poke at it and take it apart.

I've poked it about with a rolled up bit of tinfoil and lifted it up but then what?

It's so wee, there is no way I could do a full autopsy!

i bet it's a lump of poo with something fibrous in it.
tomato skin, or some orange or something like that?

I'm a mum of 3 and I've seen my fair share of strange 'objects' in poo. Not, you trust, that I do a full medical examination of each turd! But I have never seen anything like this, and it only happens when he does a wee.

You're going to have to force me to upload a picture in a minute.

Tartanlass, could it be a bit of old blood in his wee? Has it smelled stronger than usual, or has he said it hurts him? just a thought....

RedTartanLass · 09/11/2006 21:52

No he never complains of passing urine, and it doesn't smell at all, he drinks a lot of water. What does old blood look like?

I've found a pebble in DS's nappy before now.

lol vvv, I think the glittery poos are the best! When they've been doing painting and sticking at nursery and have just had to put some in their mouth! Nearly fainted the first time I saw that!

i have not gotten to the potty stage yet and you can all laugh at me if you like but ithink this is what it is:
my dog, yes dog, is female and so squats to have a wee. just lately she has taken to weeing on the patio and currently has cystitis, which is being treated. at the end of her wee a bit of blood comes out and when it rests in the puddle of wee, it forms a tear drop shape in the puddle as it doesnt mix witht he wee iyswim?
could it be a bit of blood as someone has mentioned?

lisalisa-lol
LadyOfTheFlowersIs1Baby1Bump-think you may be onto something. I know it's completely gross, but I'll upload a pic and you can tell me if it looks like what your dog does.

It does look a bit like tapeworm. I would take him to the doctor if it was me.

Sorry to be quite revolting, but it looks like bloody pus to me

The stringy, almost hairy bit is quite familiar to me

used to be prone to UTIs and have had to do many samples including filling a jug once

the urine was often streaked with blood and pus which did look a lot like your photo

It certainly doesn't look like poo. Let us know what the docs say ...

Went to the docs today after ds2 "passed" another little alien yesterday. Proudly showed him the wee speciman, with the strange floater in the largest mayonaise jar you have ever seen!!

He seemed pretty impressed I can tell you, and did not have a clue what it was. Which I'm not sure is good or bad!!! Anyway my son's wee is off to the lab to be analysed, and we wont get the results untill next week.
