This may seem a strange question, but have you ever emptied a potty and thought ?OMG what the hell is that!? My ds2 (nearly 3) had a wee this evening and in the bottom of the potty was this brown object about the size of a 5p piece, but it looked like it had a long tail. Now this is the third time over a few months I?ve seen this in his potty. The first time I thought he may have swallowed a hair and the poo had sort of entwined around it, IYSWIM.

I've googled for images under worms and parasites (and will never do it again on a full stomach, some of those pictures are disgusting! YEUGH!!!) but not found anything similar.

Anybody got idea what it could be????

Well, I'm glad they're taking it seriously. I'm sorry I was so dismissive at the start - I've seen poo that shape, but that clearly isn't poo.

Didn't Frances think it might be UTI-related? Or something?

missymoosal · 13/11/2006 19:37

It looks like pus debris. Is he not complaining of any pain when weeing?
I had a horrific uti 2 yrs ago and was peeing ever 2 mins every time i wiped myself I was finding this stringy stuff on the paper sometimes it was still partially inside and had to pull it out. ugh!!!!
Has he been given any antibiotics to cover him until the results are back?
An untrated uti can spread upwards into the kidneys then you are looking at a very unwell chill who may end up hospitalised.

RedTartanLass · 13/11/2006 20:23

NQC - good grief you've nothing to be sorry about

missymoosal - a couple of posters have mentioned it looks like a UTI, but he has absolutley no pain when he's weeing, and he doesn't appear ill at all.

He's not been given any medicine unitl the results come back, but as I say he appears ok. Well as ok as a normal screaming, tantrum throwing 2 year can be!

went back to Doctors to get results from tests. The results were.......Inconclusive!!

FTF - DS2 had passed another one of the wee critters, which was slightly different to the picture I posted, not so wide but a hell of a lot longer, about 4cm long!!!!

How on earth can the results be Inconclusive!!

Anyway he's given us a specimen bottle for the next time DS2 passes the alien. I wasn't too concerned before but now I'm just cheesed, bloody inconclusive!!

My DH says the pic looks a bit like cotton buds? Could it be that?

NotQuiteCockney · 26/11/2006 15:09

How can it be inconclusive? Shouldn't they keep checking it until they find out what it is? Grrr.

There's no chance the object is something that was already in the potty?

RedTartanLass · 26/11/2006 19:12

nqc - You read my thought exactly Grrrrr. ABsolutely no chance it was already in the potty, because after the first time I saw one, I made doubly sure it was a very empty potty when he used it. dizietsma - lol at cotton bud and double lol at you showing your dh a picture of my son's poo!!!

it's knd of translucent with little dots in it. Like a seethrough worm! Alos pretty certain now, that its in his urine as he has taken to standing up to wee (ahh the joys of having a wee boy!!) and I've seen some "strange" bits in the potty again. Unfortunately before the resutls of the test or else I would have pooped them in the speciman bottle.

Good Lord - hope you get to the bottom of it soon (sorry - no pun intended). Try not to worry in the mean time, at least it is being investigated

NotQuiteCockney · 26/11/2006 20:28

Any chance it's pant lint stuck to his willy?, and coming off? Or (ahem) particularly interesting smegma? I don't think small boys have smegma, but I'm leaping to (relatively!) non-gross explanations ...

Pennies · 01/12/2006 09:08

Am intruiged by this - has he had any more monsters in his wee?

RedTartanLass · 08/12/2006 10:44

No, no more monsters in the wee. It obviously isn't something to worry about as he isn't ill at all. It just would be nice to be re-assured!!

I mean it's unusual for Mumsnet not to find an answer!! Although I kinnda think it must be the blood in wee suggestion!
