Dd2 has been off school ttday with a temp and a sore throat etc, that is not going down with calpol and ibuprofen. She feels really hot, but says she is freezing, and is shivering. I can't remember if I should strip her off or keep her covered. Help!

Doc has called. He said he will send a car to see her, but if dh gets back before, then he can take her to see him, and car will be cancelled. Will update later probably.

thats good news lou, keep us up to speed and try to keep getting fluids down her if you can, cool stuff may be easier on the throat.

Oh lou, missed this. Hope everything is OK.

butterflymum · 01/05/2004 22:56

Lou, I hope the doctor has arrived by now. If not and it is SEADOC or similar, I would not hesitate in phoning again. Based on the original 'will send car but if your hubby arrives first come in', it sounds like they were hopeful of the latter. This timescale seems well beyond what you would expect, unless they have phoned you in the interim to check situation. In all probability their 'Red Eye' shift staff will have now taken over and, although it shouldn't happen, the original conversation between you and the Dr may not have been properly relayed. So, if needs be, don't feel you are being a nuisance and get on the phone.

marthamoo · 01/05/2004 22:57

Lou, wish I could help xx

WideWebWitch · 02/05/2004 10:25

Lou, I missed this, do let us know how she is when you get a minute.

wobblyknicks · 02/05/2004 10:28

Oh lou, really sorry I missed this!! You told me yesterday that she was hot, didn't know it was that bad - sorry sweetie.

Hope she's feeling a bit better now.

Lou, I've been thinking of you. Not for the first time, I wish I could have helped.

lou33 · 02/05/2004 12:24

I ended up cancelling the doctor when he hadn't arrived by 11pm. Her temp has started to come down now, thank goodness, so I will just keep an eye on her for the moment, and see how she goes. Thanks to everyone for showing an interest.

butterflymum · 02/05/2004 14:36

Glad your daughter seems to be on the mend and it is good that you were able to have a lie-in to recharge your own batteries.

Her throat still looks red raw, but she is trying to eat now, and she said her head doesn't feel as odd.

Glad to hear she is on the mend Lou. Auntie Lisa's cure all for a sore throat - you know when you make a jelly, you dissolve it in boiling water? Do that but with a bit of extra water, then when its luke warm, pour it into a mug and let her sip it. It gets fluid down her, the sugar will give her a bit of a boost (and make her teeth fall out ) and the jelly will coat her throat for a bit and make her feel easier

So glad she's feeling a bit better, lou. Couldn't get on the PC last night to see as dh decided to disembowel it and didn't want to hassle you with text messages. Your dh would pick this weekend to be away wouldn't he? Sod's law

lou33 · 03/05/2004 13:23

MM it would never be a hassle to hear from you . Text away!

Dd1 says she isn't feeling well now, and I have just spent an hour using my carpet washer, after ds2 left a four foot trail of poo on my white rug!

He somehow managed to do this in the gap it took from cleaning him up from another poo, and going to get a nappy.
