Sounds like the start of shingles

40slady · 09/04/2015 20:11

really on the back ..no rash ..?

That's howit starts! Feeling awful, then burning, then you get little blisters. Google and see if it fits?

Cocolepew · 09/04/2015 20:24

I say shingles too. If the rash comes out get anti virals from your dr within 72 hours.

Shingles is the chickenpox virus reactivating. If you've never had chickenpox, then its not shingles Grin

40slady · 09/04/2015 21:02

i had them as a child

I have never had chicken pox and have had shingles. I am not sure it is the same strain of virus, but willing to be corrected. Mine was on my bum cheek Blush If you have been run down then it could well be shingles, they generally don't treat it unless it is bad but you need to rest, my Dr signed me off work for two weeks Shock even though i felt fine.

40slady · 09/04/2015 21:12

thanks theoriginal , did you get a rash ? i have no rash ...or anything just feels odd sore , burning feeling ....
do you always get a rash with it or just pain ,,,

It starts out feeling like sunburn, and then, unless you take hard core antivirals, progresses to blisters.

My aunt had shingles but it never came out in a rash, just the pain on her face. The dr said it can be sorer if it doesn't blister.

Can be a sign of rosacea. I have it and it can start with a lot of heat at the top of your back, then through time you get the face neck and ears too.

40slady · 10/04/2015 18:50

thanks for suggestion , from what i can read on it it mainly effects the face ,for me its my back is warm , hot feeling but no rash or redness ..
doctor says nerve endings can cause this feeling .. Hmm

Absolutely sounds nerve related. It's called Parasthesia. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paresthesia Has your GP done some blood tests (Vitamin D etc)? Any pins and needles in your feet? Fatigue?

I get this by the way. I'd ask for a neurology referral, just to be on the safe side.

40slady · 10/04/2015 20:07

really ... no no pins and needles ..just this hot , burning sensation , doesnt hurt to touch or look red or a rash ....

It's the nerve telling you it's pissed off. It won't feel hot to touch, it's a sensation in the nerve. Your GP needs to run some blood tests, just to make sure it's not a Vitamin D deficiency as this can cause parasthesia (where your skin feels hot/tingly to you but it's not when you touch it). It could be shingles, but it's probably wise to see a neurologist (nerve doctor). It depends on why the nerve is pissed off. If there's a vitamin deficiency then it's easily sorted but there's a lot of causes. Sometimes it's benign (so there's no cause) and it goes away by itself. Don't let your GP fob you off by saying 'it's just one of those things'. I had this and other symptoms. I was fobbed off and later diagnosed with MS (I'm really not saying this is what it is, lots of things can cause this sort of sensation).
