Sorry for lovely subject but, papercut-like tears around vagina?

I get them from time to time, over xmas I noticed a pain when wiping myself and did the lovely squatting over a mirror thing and there's what looks like a papercut.

What causes these? I had a lot of tests done 'down there' recently for an unrelated reason (hormonal) was told no 'diseases' , healthy cervix...and a couple of close friends I've asked and my Mum, have said It's just rubbing on knickers, fingernail when wiping oneself... Is that right?

Try bathing with a bath oil like oilatum or e45, it really helps to keep the vulva skin soft and supple. Soap producrs dry out the skin and can make the problem worse, conversely some creams can make it too wet and that also makes it worse. The bath oil followed by a very small amount of vaseline has kept it in check for me for almist two years, after longterm horrendous problems.

Thank you Grockle Box and Mini. Grockle I remember I posted a (totally different!) 'bits' related thread that you replied to, see you're a valued expert!

Posted ON should I say, I didn't start that thread, I just read and remembered your replies.

Mini I will try that. TBH painful though they are, I was more concerned about the cause than the symptom. If It's thrush, I can reluctantly live with that.

Have them too going to doctors today. Just to warn folks that conditioner in clothing can be a major irritant.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 19/10/2017 09:18

Glad you went to the doctor,I was going to suggest fabric conditioner, certain sanitary towels/ liners . Amazing how fast they can irritate me and amazing how quickly it stops once I stop using them.

LemonysSnicket · 19/10/2017 10:09

Ive had these loads ... I always assume it’s the result of dryness on such sensitive skin and a too harsh wipe!
Or lacy knickers have done it before x

SpadesOfGlory · 21/10/2017 15:46

I have this! I asked the GP last time I had a smear and she basically just said it was dry skin and give me a prescription for a kind of emollient cream and said to use it as much as I needed to.

It's worked for me so far, everything isnfar more comfortable. TMI but I find if it's bad, going to bed in a nightie and no knickers generally clears it up overnight Blush

Hey judydoes, I see that this feed is a few years old now, just wondering if you ever got to the bottom of your issues.
EVERYTHING you describe is me.
I suffer with reoccurring thrush, and I'm (tmi) too wet and like you I've been to the docs so many times for that and they just said it's nothing to worry about. I have to wear panty liners every day, have done since my early 20s. Now I keep feeling so sore and seem to have tiny paper cuts just as you describe.
I'm going to go to docs but honestly I find them so dismissive sometimes and I always feel like I'm making a fuss, plus there's the fact that it's so painfully embarrassing. Thanks in advance. X

Hi @R3gg1e - I just wanted to chime in to say I had a fantastic gyno who prescribed me 1 clotrimozal tablet every second day for six weeks and once a week for the next few months. Got on prescription so free instead of the $20 per tablet they usually charge over the counter! (I live in NZ). Didn’t get thrush again for YEARS. Another thing I highly recommend is coconut oil - a teaspoon inside really seems to help keep thrush at bay (and is a fantastic lube). Find a gyno who will treat you effectively - you might need extra help to kill the candida off like I did. Recurrent thrush is no fun and you deserve to not have your complaints dismissed! Good luck.
