**Tamoxigang thread 51**... no more sangria, but maybe some mulled wine!

Hello all,

The old thread has nearly run out so I hope no one minds me making a new one. And am I allowed to mention the Big C... Christmas?! Grin our last thread was started in July so I reckon this one might take us into December.

In honour of that, I will lay out some mulled wine, mince pies and I have wrapped myself in tinsel.

A warm welcome to jomidmum, but sorry you've had to join us. No one wants to be in this club, but this thread is a rather nice place to be. Wishing you a speedy recovery from your op, and hoping the pain eases soon.

Massive hugs to beccajoh Flowers

A big yippee for Marshy, what utterly fantastic news.

Sitting on the paranoia box for ConsiderablyBiggerBuns, I hope your MRI results are good - when will you hear?

Waving and sending love to everyone else.

I wonder if seeing as we are on a new thread, it might be worth just giving a bit of history for new posters? I will put mine anyway, and then others can if they want to. I am coming up to two years since my bowel cancer diagnosis (grade 2, stage 3c, T2N2M0R0). I had major bowel surgery and six months of chemo.

I could come brandishing my prosthetic nipple - that is, had I not left it on the examination couch when I met the radiologist and been too embarrassed to phone and ask if it had been found Smile

savemefromrickets · 25/02/2015 20:20

Ha. Brilliant. I think you should come bearing a Blue Peter style homemade nipple.

Lilymaid · 25/02/2015 20:25

A booby hat perhaps? There was a flash mob of hat wearers near me recently ... But I can't crochet and a woolly hat in summer might bring on the hot flushes!

mintyneb · 25/02/2015 20:26

Haha! elporto :).

I'm southwest London so London or Midlands would be good for me. Can make weekends although Saturdays would probably be best.

savemefromrickets · 26/02/2015 09:08

We could beg the Woolly Hugs team to knit us lightweight ones Smile.

I shall hold a copy of my breast cancer file and wear some paper pants.

savemefromrickets · 26/02/2015 09:09

Oh, and party games. I want to play pin the nipple on the recon and musical hospital beds. Promise I won't cheat.

Marshy · 26/02/2015 15:37

I've got spare nipples if we need any. Haven't got round to wearing all 4 at once yet Grin

Elporto poor you leaving your nipple behind. I can totally get your embarrassment. Not a phone call you ever imagine yourself making!

Back feeling marginally better today

elportodelgato · 26/02/2015 18:56

Haha! marshy, I would love to borrow one of your nipples please Grin

I've signed up to do a 10k race for life with some mates in June, we are running as a team and calling ourselves the 'One Tit Wonders' - should I get some additional t shirts made up for qualifying members of the Tamoxigang so we can recognise one another?!?

Marshy · 26/02/2015 19:27

Loving that name elporto and good on you for the 10k. I hope i can get back to the gym but would settle for walking to the kitchen at the moment!
What about 'the blue tits' Grin as most breast bods have had that pleasure.

mintyneb · 26/02/2015 19:41

Well I'm up for joining the blue tits as I'm currently sporting my lovely marking still :)

Good for you Elporto on signing up for the race. I've toyed with the idea but now that I'll be having rads up until end April/early May i think it might be a step (or 10,000!) too far. Maybe next year....

Can't believe you've nearly finished your second week of rads, how are you holding up?

savemefromrickets · 26/02/2015 20:18

My blue bit was removed so I am an ex-smurf. Can I be an honorary one tit? I really think you should wear all four nipples at once, Marshy. What a look. In fact, I'd be sticking them down my back and pretending to be a new form of dinosaur, maybe a kinkysaurus.

Marshy · 26/02/2015 20:34

Yes both of mine were removed also and some of the tamoxigang never had one at all with other bits and bobs being the troublesome areas. All welcome though Smile

I quite fancy being a kinkysaurus. Maybe when my back's a bit better though.....Not up to kinky anything at the mo

savemefromrickets · 26/02/2015 20:55

I'm very relieved you didn't confess to putting your back out by being a kinkysaurus.

Maybe you could heat them gently and use them as part of a backache relieving hot nipple massage?

Is it just me or would anyone kill for a massage (preferably hot stone not hot nipple)? The one time I really need one and no one will touch me with a barge pole.

Lilymaid · 26/02/2015 23:02

I have two original ones (or at least I do at the moment)

foofooyeah · 02/03/2015 15:37

Good afternoon all. Well this has all got very frivolous I am picturing rows of nipples like a lactating dog! I love it.

Very funny you leaving nipple behind elporto.

I am currently nippleless!! May make some out of chewing gum.

I have very foolishly signed up for a 6am boot camp next week - must be mad - especially as I haven't actually lost any weight so will be the fat heifer clumping around with all the fit people!

Lilymaid · 02/03/2015 15:55

Latest update from my Oncologist visit on Saturday (he's said something about reviewing treatment so got me all in a bother). Tumour markers down, haemoglobin up. So I stay on the same dosage and treatment as it seems to be working.
My feet and hands aren't too wonderful with plantar plantar and need constant moisturising. After I had done the washing, baked cakes and made Sunday lunch yesterday I thought I could have a little lie down and moisturise feet. DH then started making tut tut sounds saying he was stressed out doing all the work around the house ...

malteserzz · 02/03/2015 16:12

Foo foo 6am ??! Definitely mad !

Lily good news that treatment is working, grrr to your DH !

Lilymaid · 03/03/2015 10:00

I'll be waiting with bated breath for Foo's boot camp experience when she starts. She'll need a physio and a psychiatrist after that.

Speedypenguin · 03/03/2015 13:41

Madness Foo! Will think of you as I turn over in bed Smile

Good news Lily that the treatment is working. Sorry your hands and feet aren't good though.

Have just come back from oncologist. Will be having another Echo and if ejection fraction has improved then they'll try another couple of Herceptin. We discussed having ovaries out so will be ringing genetics at some point.

My new boobs are feeling a bit sore at the moment. Thinking I might have overdone something but have tried to be careful, especially back at work. Hoping if I rest a bit they'll ease. Have work again tomorrow though.

Hope everyone going through treatment at the moment is managing ok.

Salhal · 03/03/2015 19:30

Just wanted to share my good news - clear margins and clear nodes following my op so onwards to chemo for me. Just waiting for an oncologist appointment now. Feeling very relieved and celebrated by buying a body warmer and new sunglasses, random I know!! My surgeon said he really hoped my genetic testing was negative as he wouldn't want his lovely lumpectomy handiwork to be removed by a mastectomy! My breast cancer nurse just put her head in her hands!!

savemefromrickets · 03/03/2015 20:10

Congratulations! That's fantastic news. Your surgeon sounds a right one (mine would have no doubt said similar had my margins been clear)!

Speedypenguin · 03/03/2015 20:45

Salhal- that's good news. Let's hope for lots of nice weather for your sunglasses.

malteserzz · 03/03/2015 23:11

That's great salhal Smile

foofooyeah · 04/03/2015 14:13

Salhal ... that made me laugh, great for good news.

Lily - sorry for poorly hands but good news about markers. If you can bear it with your sore feet give your DH a kick up the arse!

Speedy - take it easy and don't overdo it

Boot camp starts next week so will let you know. Saw GP about my lack of weightloss, have had a thyroid test, and free Slimming World membership. I then came home and ate some chocolate rice cakes - Hmmm perhaps that's why I am not losing weight.

Marshy · 04/03/2015 15:09

Quick hello from me as I gradually emerge from back pain hell. Still hurting and moving gingerly but definitely improved on last week.

Fab to see good news from lily and sal. That sounds just the kind of thing my surgeon would have said!

Speedy don't overdo it....hope you've got some days off this week.

Foo I'm in awe of your 6 am start. Good on you. I've been doing SW and was making slow but steady progress. The group thing does have a tendency to be a bit 'fat fighters' but I quite enjoyed it mostly down to the woman running it and having got to know a couple of friendly women in the group. Haven't been to the last 2 sessions cos of my back, but maybe next week.

Off to recline on the sofa now with strategically placed pillows.
