if you are like me and dont test or do test and then come on 7 or 10 days late?

because I seem to have had loads and I wonder if this is just a normal thing

popsycal · 30/08/2006 17:31

i think i may have had one the month before i conceived ds2......
not sure though
would have been very very very early

juuule · 30/08/2006 17:31

I have 8 confirmed pgs, most requiring an erpc. I have also had a few times when I've suspected that I might have been but not tested and prefer to think that I wasn't.

SenoraPostrophe · 30/08/2006 17:33

some, probably.

but I never test until several days after.

don't they reckon that 3 out of 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage, the vast majority having never tested positive anyway? in some ways those super sensitive tests do more harm than good I think.

cupcakes · 30/08/2006 17:40

I have had one confirmed miscarriage and having experienced it, I think it's the only one I've ever had.

gothicmama · 30/08/2006 17:43

I have had 6 but also think I have probably had more esp when feeling pg then af turns up if it concerns you, go to your gP. Imho nature is mrvelous but this added awareness adn supersenstitive tests can cause more distress

MrsFio · 30/08/2006 17:50

I am not distressed about this

I just wondered how common it was

Obviously i do not want to sit in my house for 2 days whilst it passes, but you know

I've had one certain m/c but using your definition, Fio, I would say I had on average three or four a year, until my late thirties.

But I really can't believe I have actually had that number of m/c's - it's not possible, is it?

Tinker · 30/08/2006 18:54

One for certain and based on that - pain, blood loss - don't think any of my late periods were mcs

harrisey · 30/08/2006 19:00

I've had 3 confirmed m/c s, and they were very distinctive, dont think I have had any I dont know about, either I am on time or I am pregnant. Never tested till I was a few days ove rin any case.

Mercy · 30/08/2006 19:01

I've had one confirmed mc but probably another 2 - and I was on teh pill. I only realised this when I was expecting dd and then had the confirmed mc, because I had exactly the same 'symptoms' of being pg.

zdl · 30/08/2006 19:02

None that I knew of, but I found out today that something like 85% of IVF pregnancies result in miscarriage, most of them before 5 weeks, so must be more common than we are aware of in non-IVF pregnancies.

MrsFio · 30/08/2006 19:49

I dont know suedonim, thats why I am asking. I have an horrendous period every so often and usually when I have been careless, I pass clots etc etc tested pos+ this time so certainly know it is one, but I wondered how many times it has happened and it is early (7/8 ish days this time)

I know it isnt the same as a long awaited pregnancy or anything or a later miscarriage....I have a feeling I am going to get told of for this for some reason

I am just trying to explain all the other times, I have heard of menustration haemorages ( and think I have had a few of those too) but this is different as its painful

cadbury · 30/08/2006 19:52

no answers I'm afraid Fio. Just wanted to let you know I had seen this and was thinking of you (as I often am )

Scoobydooooo · 30/08/2006 19:54

I have had one that has been confirmed & that was in between Ds & Dd i am pretty sure i have had no others.

Jimjams2 · 30/08/2006 19:54
  1. One 2 months before conceiving ds1, very faint line, then very heavy period. One inbetween ds1 and ds2 (7 or 8 weeks or something, so late enough to know, but early enough to be like a heavy period (baby had stopped growing at 5 or 6 weeks).

Every other time we've been careless I've ended up pregnant (hello ds2 hello ds3) hence the sniiiiip!

Charleesunnysunsun · 30/08/2006 19:55

I have had 6 all with positive tests then heavy clotting and bleeding about 3-4 weeks later. Now 29 weeks pg!

Jimjams2 · 30/08/2006 19:56

Might be worth checking you haven't got a fibroid fio, although I think they're heavy all the time, although not sure.

nutcracker · 30/08/2006 19:58

I have had one well half of one, I lost a twin at 9 weeks.

I don't think I have had any more.

MrsFio · 30/08/2006 19:58

weirdly the last 5 periods I have had have been very light, in comparrison. This one is a monster though, but as I said I know why and I dont feel bad (thanks cadbury) but feel guilty for feeling relieved (this is most probably too real as usual)

What are the symptoms of fibroids? I think I do need to go to the Drs though for free condoms at least

OP posts:
hulababy · 30/08/2006 20:03

I have definitely had one, at 7 weeks, and it was definitely very different than a late period for me. Very distinct.

PanicPants · 30/08/2006 20:04

I've had 2 m/c and an ectopic.

But you're right, when I was on clomid, my periods were not regular so I wonder if any of those were m/c's

PanicPants · 30/08/2006 20:09

Sometimes it's best not to know, and now I would only test if I was very very late to save on the heartach. I now don't even keep track of my periods now, just that I'm due sometime at the end of the month/beginning of the month.

Jimjams2 · 30/08/2006 20:12

fibroids main symptom is heavy periods, but I don't know if they can be heavy sometimes and not others.

Gobbledigook · 30/08/2006 20:14

I don't think I've had any. I do remember being very late once - maybe a 40 day cycle, which I just don't have, and perhaps that was one but I've no idea. I remember thinking 'OMG am I pg' as I was not married and likely to be in the near future. Anyway, I'll never know.
