So, erm, how do you er, I mean, I sort of managed, but, erm, could you advise, possibly, the best way to erm, hmm, perhaps

Hmm.

Maybe if I am too shy to ask questions about it I am not quite cut out for using one

Right, I've ordered one, this is the last period where I flaff with tampons etc. So, what do you do at work or do you not need to er sort it out there? Can you keep it in for 11 hours?

Amiable · 02/08/2006 22:28

This is definitely one of the funniest threads recently! Loving the whole "flapping your lips" stuff - maybe if you try flapping both sets, that helps?!

As for my name Franny, well, it's more how I wish I were, rather than how I am, y'know?! (nearly missed the "r" out of your name, which bearing in mind this thread is quite apt!! )

TambaIsBadBadBad · 02/08/2006 22:29

Just choked on my diet coke

You are on good form tonight

hairymclary · 02/08/2006 22:30

jampots, if you can get a baby out of it then a finger and thumb is nothing

lemonaid · 02/08/2006 22:31

Depends how heavy your periods are. I can keep it in for 11 hours without needing to empty it even on my heaviest days but I can see that if you have heavy periods you might need to empty it after say 6 or 8 hours. You could just empty and reinsert or empty, wipe with damp tissue and reinsert at work. Or I have heard of some women carrying a small bottle of water with them for rinsing.

WideWebWitch · 02/08/2006 22:33

thanks lemonaid, I can prob get away with waiting til home then, my periods aren't that bad, 2 days and it's all over. sorry if tmi!

FrannyandZooey · 02/08/2006 22:37

at ruthy

WWW, it says you should empty it every 6 hours or so, I think, but it says you can just wipe it with a tissue and clean it more thoroughly when it's more convenient.

Take a bottle of water to work and you can rinse it in the loo

WaitingForGodKnows · 02/08/2006 22:49

Or you could just...rinse it in the loo...? No? Step too far?

PrettyCandles · 02/08/2006 22:50

I tend to flap about 3 times a day: when I get up, mid-afternoon, and when I go to bed. Perhaps once more if I have a particularly heavy day 2. I don't like to leave it in more than 10h or so, as I once forgot it the morning rinse, and when I did flap it out in the afternoon I suddenly understood what all those "I lost a tampon once and when the nurse fished it out she had to open the window" threads were on about (gag).

Use the disabled loo - that way you get a basin as well.

WideWebWitch · 02/08/2006 22:51

I would rinse it IF the sinks weren't public, sorry, rinsing my mooncup in front of my team would be pushing it imo!

ruthydd · 02/08/2006 22:51

Sorry - was a subtle joke for NQC. We met unknowingly the other day. She's the only real live MNer I've met but I'll be watching out for them all the time now....... and listening for schlurrrrpppps!

hairymclary · 02/08/2006 22:52

waitingforgodknows, that runs the risk of the embarassing "oops I just dropped my mooncup in the toilet" scenario.
ok, so it's clean water, but no-one really likes fishing it out of a toilet that other people use and stuffing it back up their minky

WideWebWitch · 02/08/2006 22:52

You know, I'm feeling very pleased I've ordered this and am going for it, it totally makes sense to me.

WaitingForGodKnows · 02/08/2006 22:54

Agree that may be pushing it a little, hairy.

I think a quick spit and a wipe with a tissue should be fine, www

WideWebWitch · 02/08/2006 22:55

hahahaha, hmm, may wait til I get home

hairymclary · 02/08/2006 22:55

oh another bit of advice, wear a panty liner the first time you try it. Until you get used to it it can go in skew whiff and leak/

FrannyandZooey · 03/08/2006 08:51

Jeez, I would never rinse anything that was going up my twinkle in the toilet. Do you really class water that has been in the toilet as clean?

Laughed so much at flapping bits that nearly had my baby right here on the floor in my dining room. Feel so much better now for a good chortle, although neighbours think I'm mad. Good luck with the schlurrping Franny..

CheesyFeet · 03/08/2006 09:51

Mine has just arrived.

at the flapping and schlurping

I had a "dry" run with it without too many problems. I have the bucket fanny size and didn't have any trouble inserting it or getting it out. Maybe it's true what dh says about it being like a broomhandle down a mineshaft since dd was born .

FlameSparrow · 03/08/2006 18:10

Psycho pointed me in the direction of this thread!!! Tis great - and again, knew exactly what the first post was referring to!!!

I bought mine from a friend's shop, and she sent me a lollypop with it... DH was very concerned about what I was meant to do with the lolly!!!!

Psycho says that she has been thinking about this thread all day, and keep laughing inappropriately and the children think she really has gone psycho.

FrannyandZooey · 04/08/2006 08:12

I am still very nearly doing a labia-ectomy every time I remove it, and the long thumb nail definitely has to go.

Oh, and this is just beyond TMI, I am leaving the highway of the humourously embarrassing and entering the valley of bottom-clenching shame here, but

what about when you do a poo? does it sort of squeeze out a bit so you need to reinsert it afterwards?

OP posts:
Scoobydooooo · 04/08/2006 08:31

OMG this has to be the funniest thread of all time, franny you make me laugh

Hope you have got the hang of it now?

Flamesparrow · 04/08/2006 08:42

I have never been able to keep anything in properly with poos (very good pelvic floors maybe??? or very bad ones????) - I tend to just take out, then poo .
