metallic taste what could it be???

for the past few days I have a metallic taste in my mouth, can't get rid of it. I've used mouth washes, tried chewing on different herbs but nope it's still there. It's putting me off my food.
I'm not sick feel fine (except for the strange taste in mouth), definitely totally utterly not pregnant, nothing wrong with my teeth or gums ie no bleeding when brushing or pain....

Any ideas what it could be please...???

fuzzy - i think i might have it....maybe you have had an early miscarriage symptoms of pg but with heavy loss? have you thought that could be possible?

Mercy · 09/07/2006 20:41

I had a period (whilst TTC) and was pregnant

I also felt a bit 'funny' whilst on the pill and going by subsequent pregnancies was probably pg - had a full on major period a few days late.

These things do happen! test soon to set your mind at rest.

I had it and it started with a really bad metallic taste. So bad I was scrubbing my tongue with my toothbrush in a desperate attempt to get rid of it. Even a hot curry didn't disguise it... I too had no family history... It is to do with a virus I think.

NotanOtter the possibility didn't cross my mind at all tbh untill it was mentioned on here a few posts down.....Should I go to the GP (she's horrible) I'm well in myself just the sodding metallic taste in mouth thing which is driving me insane.

Af wasn't actually longer than it normally is, just incredibly heavy and one day late, which I didn't think was unusual, pre-kids my periods used to quite literally knock me out for days they were that heavy and long....

but the palsy started within 48 hours..

fuzzywuzzy · 09/07/2006 20:46

cece, the metallic taste appears to have crept up on me, I just realised I've not been eating properly since the tail end of last week as food tastes disgusting due to it.

I would imagine not Bell's then. I phone NHS direct once the paralysis of my face started and they diagnosed me over the phone. Then sent me to doc at local clinic to confirm..

Toothache · 09/07/2006 20:48

I've got that just now... I get it periodically ever since I had the Mirena Coil fitted. Its disgusting!!! The first time I really did think I was pg but thankfully not. I eat mints all day, but nothing seems to get rid. Can't say it puts me off my food though!

Whats Bells Palsy? >worried< And what other sypmtoms are there??

cece · 09/07/2006 20:52

one side of your face is paralysed so it is diffiuclt to eat and talk and drink. Also cannot shut your eye so it dries up - I wore an eye patch till it cleared up... Took about 2 months but can be lnger or never.

bramblina · 09/07/2006 21:29

Fuzzy yes, in reply to your q of ages ago! You caould have had a period as some do, and still be pregnant, or you could have had an early mc. I have had late and early mcs so I recognised my early one from experience. If you do take a test it will more than likely show + even if you have mc'd. Of course you may still be pg. If this is the case you should see your gp for referral, but if you are only 4 wks they would not even get a heartbeat from an internal scan (and you don't want one of those anyway...) so they will prob need you to wait, and take another test in a week. As you mention the clots it certainly makes me think pg/mc but as I have sadi, some women have periods throughout their pgs. HTH

tryingtohard · 10/07/2006 11:29

have you tested yet??

fuzzywuzzy · 10/07/2006 15:00

Okaaay. BFN see see told you so.....

If the taste doesn't go I'll have to visit the GP, although I think it has eased a bit, still can't bring myself to eat much though.

God I was shaking when I tested, I didn't expect to be pg, but the thought of having had a miscarriage is horrible....

you can get a funny taste with post-nasal drip or reflux (think someone else mentioned that) - are you getting it at a certain time of day?

I get it but mine seems to be linked to my cycle (so hormonal like Toothys)

fuzzywuzzy!

have you made that dentist appointment?
