metallic taste what could it be???

fuzzywuzzy · 09/07/2006 19:32

for the past few days I have a metallic taste in my mouth, can't get rid of it. I've used mouth washes, tried chewing on different herbs but nope it's still there. It's putting me off my food.
I'm not sick feel fine (except for the strange taste in mouth), definitely totally utterly not pregnant, nothing wrong with my teeth or gums ie no bleeding when brushing or pain....

Any ideas what it could be please...???

Out of interest, what form of contraception are you using?

bramblina · 09/07/2006 20:09

If you have had a really heavy period...could it have been a very early miscarriage?

alexsmum · 09/07/2006 20:11

could be pregnancy , could be a vitamin thing.i went through a phase where i had a taste in my mouth like i was chewing rubber bands.turned out to be the vitamin b in the supplement i was taking.coulbe something similar.

fuzzywuzzy · 09/07/2006 20:11

We use condoms, I don't have any cavities so no fillings to fall out.....Brambalina could that be possible I came on a day later than I usually do and the period was really heavy and pretty lumpy (sorry tmi)..

I had the same thing a while back-it was so bad it made me feel sick &^ I couldn't eat anything. It turned out to be a filling 'leaking'.

I took a pregnancy test too,I was convinced that that was the only thing to cause it.

fuzzywuzzy · 09/07/2006 20:13

Not on any medicines or vitamins
Not stressed
No acid reflux here either.....

OK I'll buy and do a pg test tomorrow, I bet I'm not though I can't be there's no way.......

sorry.

In that case I stand by my first post.

SoupDragon · 09/07/2006 20:17

I love the way that despite fuzzy saying "definitely totally utterly not pregnant" in her OP, we all think she must be pregnnat

DumbledoresGirl · 09/07/2006 20:19

Hmm condoms are not exactly the most reliable method of contraception are they? I am not so sure how you can be so adamant that you are not pregnant, unless you have abstained from sex for moneths.

fuzzywuzzy · 09/07/2006 20:22

But but but, I just had a really really heavy period I've just come off it today..... that's what makes me so adamant.... my husbands going to be rather bemused if I am you know he thinks (as do I ) period = not pregnant

A friend was told by her gynaecologist that condoms were only 87 percent safe, however these things are calculated, so you can still get pregnant unless you're using them in combination with spermicide. (She had 4 kids already and this was after discovering she had an unwanted pregnancy, so these things can happen).

Still think the test is the way to go, fuzzy, sorry.

fuzzywuzzy · 09/07/2006 20:25

LGJ why would I be getting divorced ... Husband would be rather chuffed actually, I was hoping for a longer age gap between dd2 and baby3....

I don't presonally know anyone who has experienced this, but I have read that some people carrying on having periods right the way through their pregnancies. This can account for how some people can be pregnant and not know it until they go into labour. Just a thought for you.

SherlockLGJ · 09/07/2006 20:28

No you nana there is Tammy Wynette song...............

hunkermunker · 09/07/2006 20:29

Have you thought you might be pregnant?

I went off chocolate when I was pg with DS1...

fuzzywuzzy · 09/07/2006 20:31

oooh right LGJ, sorry I'm feeling slightly out of it... Shall post tomorrow about my BFN, and if it doesn't go away by tomorrow I'm going to have to visit the GP it's pretty yuck ....

HIJACK ALERT!!
Sorry but that not effective/condom argument holds no store by me...

I have been with dp 16 years...

Had 5 children... ONLY used condoms whole time.
Get pg often 1st try.
NO un - tried for pregnancies bar the first where i took risks.
Using a condom properly means no pregnancy ...dont believe the old splitting argument either...

SSSandy · 09/07/2006 20:33

From Women's Health:

Bleeding or a "Period" does NOT mean you can't be pregnant
More importantly, though, the presence of bleeding does not mean you are not pregnant. About 25% of all pregnant women have some bleeding or spotting in the first three months of pregnancy. Many women mistake this bleeding for their period and underestimate their due dates by a month or so. The question to ask yourself is "Is this bleeding exactly the same as my usual period? Is it at the same time of the month, the same number of days? am I using the same number of pads or tampons?" Again, the more regular your periods are, the more reliable a sign of pregnancy any noticed changes will be.
