I can't remember either coddy. Apparently you can buy diy kits on the internet. Good for me who lives alone, but i wouldn't like to be caught shoving a tube up ones bottom by your husband.

Festivefly · 09/02/2004 14:46

Obviously i didn't mean me being caught by coddies husband

Coddy · 09/02/2004 15:14

My friend has an instruction manual for DIY C.I. It has complicated diagrams about balancing a plank on the toilet and a chair. I think it's hilarious, and can't wait for her to try it.

Isn't the stuff that is washed out stuff that would have made it's way down over the next 12 hours under the influence of peristalsis? Aren't ALL the bodies mechanisms designed to 'detox' our systems? How does the intestine filter out bits of undigested meat for special impactation (since it's the quantites of undigested hamburger that always get quoted). It seems unscientific, unhealthy, and obsessive to me...but on the basis of don't knock it til you've tried it, I'm never going to be able to comment with any credibility!

Ifancy it but am too scared.

Blu · 09/02/2004 15:54

motherinferior · 09/02/2004 15:57

Up yer bum, Blu

Festivefly · 09/02/2004 16:13

We could raise money, sponsored colonic irrigation, or enter the guiness book of records for the most people using the procedure at the same time. In the local church hall.

Blu · 09/02/2004 16:16

Webcam, definitely.

gingerbear · 09/02/2004 16:26

didn't Kim Wilde do this last year? (At a Thailand Spa with some other celebs on Channel 5 as I recall).

remember her saying she felt wonderful after the whole detox/yoga /CI and lost loads of weight.

She looks great now and has done a detox DVD

really fancy detox, not so sure about CI...

Coddy · 09/02/2004 18:45

They spent years trying to rid the NHS maternity hospitals of this enema business, now in new packaging we're expected to pay?
Mind you Princess Diana was aleged to have been rather a fan of it...

Coddy · 09/02/2004 18:57

If I had the money I would try colonic irrigation in a heart beat

starry · 10/02/2004 13:46

I had colonic irrigation, all be it some years ago, now when I lived in Hong Kong. Quite popular over there at the time, along with probiotics, so I think they are a bit ahead of other countries on things like that. I thought C.I. was great - not embarresing as the therepist did it every day etc etc. Felt fab afterwards. HAd increased energy and felt 'lighter' - not weight wise, just more sort of chilled out. As a vegetarian of many years my colon was quite healthy, no putrified meat in there but leafy green vegetables tend to get 'stuck' to the sides apparently. I'd recommend it and would have it done here in the UK if I had the time.

juniper68 · 11/02/2004 17:55

I had it done a few times after having DS1 6 yrs ago. I swear by it and think I need another few sessions. It isn't at all embarrasing and the stuff that comes out can have been there years and smells like it too!! You go to the loo after each go and it smells like a sewer. It's true though that a lot of this is caused by meat. I was so bloated b4 it. Anyone thinking about it I'd say go for it
