assuming there are no complications, how many hours would you expect the surgery to take? Hope there is someone around who knows the answer!

Hi, I had a hysterectomy last November, I was in theatre for 2.5 hours as my operation was 'technically difficult but straight forward' according to my notes. I don't know whether that is a long time or not.

Will it be vaginal - which I think is very quick or by ...um what would they call it ? like a Cesarean ?

Hi everyone
I am waiting for a date for an abdominal hysterectomy should be soon as previous date was cancelled by hospital. Terrified is an understatement! I have no idea what to expect - although I know everyone's experience is different. Would really appreciate thoughts on this one. Am having op due to fibroids largest one was 9cm plus lots of smaller ones. Periods are quite heavy but only last about 5 days. Was prescribed Esmya but chose not to take it after reading side effects not sure if I done the right thing there but have read mixed reviews as to whether it works - in most cases it was to try and shrink fibroids prior to surgery.
