Snoring, does anything work to stop it?

Dp snores very loudly at times. He snores all the time but sometimes it's very loud.

I've read of the sprays but do they work? He's willing to try them but I said I'll ask Mn first Wink

I have found no cure other than moving to a different room or taking medication myself. Watching with interest.

Juniperdewdropofbrandy · 14/04/2013 22:12

The silicone earplugs work well usually but if it's really loud they're not so good. I won't be moving rooms though. He works night shift anyway so it's not every night.

Hope someone can suggest something for them or us though purplewithred?

Separate bedrooms, I now, after 20 years can sleep in peace.
Still love the noisy bugger, but his snoring was driving me insane.
My sleep is more important than sharing the same bed every night.
Different if you are newlyweds though!Grin

Dp bought some Helps stop snoring spray and it's worked. I hope it keeps on working? Wasn't that expensive either, around £6.

It was a good bit cheaper than the Nytol one.

Get him checked for sleep apnea, a lot of people who snore have this and it means they do not get a proper nights sleep too. My mum used to snore like a chainsaw and she now sleeps with a breathing machine on and doesn't snore at all, and she gets a proper night's sleep.

Naebother · 16/04/2013 15:59

Wax earplugs
Spare bed to send him off to.

AuntieStella · 16/04/2013 16:13

Smothering?

Juniperdewdropofbrandy · 16/04/2013 18:24

Well the spray's working at the moment.

I use the silicone earplugs too they're good. He's had a bit of a cold recently so think that made him louder?

Sympathy here I know what it's like:(

ladyjadie · 16/04/2013 18:49

Where did your dp get that spray from?

nenevomito · 16/04/2013 18:51

Earplugs have saved my marriage. I've not found anything that can stop him from snoring, so I had to find another way.

Juniperdewdropofbrandy · 16/04/2013 19:20

The spray was in Morrison's think you can get it at Boots though?

OP posts:
Juniperdewdropofbrandy · 16/04/2013 19:23

Here it is and it's cheaper in Boots.

Out of curiosity are any of your OHs overweight? Dp is, not massively but could do with losing a couple of stone. He's doing well though and lost a bit and keeps trying.

Juniper im so jealous Grin 34 inch falls off him but he does snore Grin

rubyflipper · 16/04/2013 20:50

DH snores like a train when he's carrying more weight than he should and/or had a sneaky fag.

borisjohnsonshair · 16/04/2013 20:53

My DH stopped snoring after losing 2.5 stone.

Wishihadabs · 16/04/2013 20:56

Was going to say loose weight and stop smoking.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 16/04/2013 20:57

A sharp elbow in the ribs usually does the trick, getting him to roll over onto his side or failing these methods re-locating to the spare room Smile

DamselWithADulcimer · 16/04/2013 20:57

Moving to another room did the trick for me. After 15 years, I couldn't cope any longer!

thingamajig · 16/04/2013 21:01

DH was prescribed a spray by the doctor, it does seem to work really well.

Juniperdewdropofbrandy · 16/04/2013 21:08

Dp doesn't smoke.

Glad a spray works for your dh thingamajig.
