Sounds like the horrible bug we've all had. Turns chesty and wipes you out for a week.

Lots of rest, fluid and lemsip.

DS had it and then got croup so watch out for dcs.

Good luck.

Badvoc · 09/03/2013 09:42

Ugh....I am not good at being ill.
Dcs have had it/got it but haven't had the sweats/nausea/runs...

You've just described me! I usually keep going through a cold but this has put me to bed.

Hope you feel better soon!

Badvoc · 09/03/2013 12:10

My usual take a nurofen and walk it off really isn't going to work is it?
Feel ghastly.

Take your temperature, if it is raised above normal, you must take it easy.
If normal, then you can just soldier on as best you can.

Badvoc · 09/03/2013 16:43

Feeling properly strange.
Runs have stopped for now.
Took some anti nausea meds too.
Kidneys hurt so much :(
Just taken some ibuprofen which I know you aren't supposed to on an empty stomach, but in pain.
Feel cold Nd shivery but am sweating..had to change my pj top.....yuck.

You could do with seeing the OOH, Badvoc, as it sounds as though you have a UTI. Sad

Badvoc · 09/03/2013 16:53

This is going to sound pathetic, but I feel too ill to go...:(

OP posts:
Badvoc · 09/03/2013 16:54

...I had nefritis a few years ago and it feels a bit like that.

OP posts:
LadyMaryQuiteContrary · 09/03/2013 16:55

No, that's not pathetic. I was too ill to go to the OOH last night. Tell them you're feeling too unwell to go in and ask for them to come out. Sad Sounds like you really need checking over though.

Bunbaker · 09/03/2013 16:56

You absolutely must talk to a medical professional in that case - please.

LadyMaryQuiteContrary · 09/03/2013 16:56

Don't leave it then. Call an ambulance if you need to, any damage to your kidneys is bad as they don't recover.

Badvoc · 09/03/2013 17:00

They don't come out.
Was told quite emphatically last time ds2 was really poorly that they only come out to housebound and terminally ill patients.

Badvoc · 09/03/2013 17:01

Are you fed.ing better ladymary?

OP posts:
LadyMaryQuiteContrary · 09/03/2013 17:03

You are housebound, chuck! Call NHS direct, if they call an ambulance for you then excellent!

I'm getting there, feels like my head is full of expanding putty at the moment though (had labarynthitis).

DrRanj · 09/03/2013 17:05

Oh dear I have the same thing. 2 days of cold symptoms and raspy throat, then last night starting vomiting and fevers, nothing from the other end though! Massive stomach cramps as well.

I imagine it is either a viral gastroeneteritis, or flu itself as you can sometimes get sick with that.

Dd had what appeared to be hand foot and mouth last week, so I'm wondering if what I've got is some weird presentation of that, or just something else entirely.

Poor thing, I know how you feel. I am feeling dog rough and dp has had to look after dd despite having a bit of a cold himself. Has not vomited though and is beginning to fell better. Just hope dd doesn't get it as it won't be pretty! (2 yo, still in nappies) Hmm

Badvoc · 09/03/2013 17:06

Ooh I have had that years ago,
Nasty.

OP posts:
Badvoc · 09/03/2013 17:07

Dc both had snotty noses and coughs but seem ok now (fingers crossed)
I started with this early, hours thurs morning...really bad sore throat, green phlegm...yuck.
Losing my voice now too!

DrRanj · 09/03/2013 17:08

Don't take any more neurofen, NSAIDs are really bad for your kidneys if you are dehydrated, and even more so if you have a history of kidney problems. Call ooh.

Badvoc · 09/03/2013 17:11

Really?
I would waste their time, I Really do feel too ill to go in...it's a good half hour drive away if the traffic is good....
Will go to gp on Monday

OP posts:
LadyMaryQuiteContrary · 09/03/2013 17:14

Call NHS direct and let them decide. New number is 111. Tell them that you're too ill to move and won't be able to get to the OOH. It's not wasting their time. Smile

DrRanj · 09/03/2013 17:15

Just keep clear of the NSAIDs for now and stick to paracetamol and you'll be fine. Tends to only be little old people who are already on multiple drugs who will have issues with NSAIDs, but better be safe than sorry! Get some dioralyte if you are still having lots of diarhoea

Badvoc · 09/03/2013 17:16

My voice keeps going.
Could dh ring?
Would they have to speak to me?

OP posts:
LadyMaryQuiteContrary · 09/03/2013 17:19

They can speak to OH. Honestly, give them a call. You need a medic to check you over incase it's a UTI/infection.

PetiteRaleuse · 09/03/2013 17:27

Don't want to freak you out but I was 31 when my stomach ulcerated and haemorraged after not very many (well under the prescribed dose) anti inflammatories. I nearly died, had massive surgery, days in a coma, masses of transufsions. I only had one on an empty stomach. No previous health problems of any note. Paracetamol is much safer and as effective if you keep on top of it. It worries me how available they are over the counter.

Sounds like you have flu btw. Nasty, just getting over it myself.
