Cranberry juice but also get drugs for it... it is really something you do not need now !

SaintGeorge · 30/04/2006 20:13

Yes to cranberry juice, although you need lots of plain water too.

Archive search should be back by early next week hopefully.

PanicPants · 30/04/2006 20:14

lemon barley. Dr told me this one, apparently calmer than cranbury juice.

Poor you.

arfy · 30/04/2006 20:14

cranberry juice yes and LOTS of water
also if really bad run a warm bath and sit in it (and wee in it too I'm afraid, sounds grim but it is a big relief)
also pour jug over yourself whilst weeing (as you might be doing anyway having just had a baby!)
I would check quite soon with doc though just in case it's a UTI, don't know if those are more likely soon after giving birth but you don't want bad cystitis or an infection at this time Smile

tamum · 30/04/2006 20:14

Agree with pupuce. The archived thread search has been disabled temporarily because of the litigation threat. If you can bear to add some bicarb to squash and drink that it can help a bit, and a hot water bottle is also quite soothing. Poor you :(

Enid · 30/04/2006 20:14

bugger

what drugs, antibiotics? I refuse to believe they EVER work

you sure you didn't have a weeny graze? I really hurt when I peed and had a tiny graze.

The last thing you need is cystistis. If you do ,get to the doctors and get whatever you can..

SaintGeorge · 30/04/2006 20:16

\link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=138&threadid=166345&stamp=060421215150#3473669\And another} for you

Katymac · 30/04/2006 20:16

You can get cranberry tablets that are really strong (holland & barrett) I always take twice what they say and it clears up in no time (not sre you should OD on them atm tho')

arfy · 30/04/2006 20:16

I have usually managed to cure cystitis with cranberry juice, water and sometimes an over the counter thing - no idea if those are ok with breastfeeding though - because I detest antibiotics and they give me thrush (totally counterproductive)

PanicPants · 30/04/2006 20:17

You can buy sachets from chemist, can't remember what it's cold but it's 6 sachets you take over 2 days. You mix with water. Tastes awful but does the trick especially if you drink lemon barley, cranberry and plenty of water too.

Enid · 30/04/2006 20:17

its only come on today beety, no graze on little wee place as far as I know

OP posts:
PanicPants · 30/04/2006 20:18

Enid · 30/04/2006 20:19

You just need to be very careful it doesn't turn into a kidney infection, that's why you might need antibiotics. Definitely try the other stuff for a day, but I wouldn't leave it too long to be honest.

Twiglett · 30/04/2006 20:19

had v bad cystitis leading to kidney infection

this advice

7fl oz cranberry juice a day
lots of water
go when needed
when on the toilet try to sit with back straight and lean backwards a little ... do not read .. it makes you hunch over
always go to loo when you need to
try to go after sex (yeah that's relevant Grin)

PinkKerPlink · 30/04/2006 20:20

bathe in saltwater too

beetroot · 30/04/2006 20:20

keep on drinking loads of water and make doc appointment.

arfy · 30/04/2006 20:20

if you don't have to go far, drive and get it now. DH will just have to put up with it!

keep an eye on it though and don't leave the docs too long. but go and get the supplies now, while it's still feasible

Enid · 30/04/2006 20:21

will get supplies - ooh feels weird leaving baby though

and make appt tomorrow if open, also will mention to midwife

SaintGeorge · 30/04/2006 20:23

Have you got any bicarb?

A teaspoon in half a pint of milk. Tastes foul but apparently very effective.

beetroot · 30/04/2006 20:23

you really should not go anywhere. don't worry about cranberry, just drink watr
