are her hands and feet cold? my ds2 is 22 months and he has a tummy bug, his hands and feet are blue but not cold, am awaiting nhs direct to call me back. Tbh i would prob call doc how old is she? i dont want to scare you but when googling i read that cold hands and feet are a sign or meningitis (sp?)

desperateSCOUSEwife · 23/03/2006 16:44

yes my ds2 suffers with this
his hands and feet can go blue, then the next minute they can be red hot
he has something wrong with his hypothalamus
re his body temperature has all gone to pot

I would get your dd to see a doc asap tbh.

starshaker · 23/03/2006 16:44

try slowly rubbing them and exercising them to see if the circulation comes back

pepperpots · 23/03/2006 16:47

how old is your dd? have tried looking on internet for symptoms but they don't mention anything about blue hands and feet unless thye are cold

starshaker · 23/03/2006 17:04

don't want to be alarmist but is sign of meningitis.when is doc due? if not coming for a long time then take her to a& e.

LIZS · 23/03/2006 17:10

Has she had any other symptoms - could be a sign of dehydration ?

foxinsocks · 23/03/2006 17:10

we haven't had that - hope the doc is there soon

without wanting to worry you unnecessarily, I think they worry about meningitis with cold hands/feet and throwing up (only saying this because we got a leaflet with the meningitis signs and these were 2 of them)

it's probably just one of these nasty vomiting bugs going round but I'm glad she will get to see the doc!

starshaker · 23/03/2006 17:11

ment to say hes been and that they came so quick cos the symptoms sound like meningitis. he said she seems fine in herself and hands and feet had a bit more colour but to keep an eye on her and if i was worried to phone them straight away

OP posts:
starshaker · 23/03/2006 17:11

thinks she has a virus and just watch her

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 23/03/2006 17:11

ah alexsmum had the same thought as me!

I didn't want to make you panic but just to let you know so that you could keep an eye out for any other tell-tale signs

foxinsocks · 23/03/2006 17:12

oh that's good news - hope she is better soon

starshaker · 23/03/2006 17:20

shes still being sick. gave her a rich tea and it came straight back up

OP posts:
desperateSCOUSEwife · 23/03/2006 17:31

is she keeping liquid down

starshaker · 23/03/2006 17:37

just given her some water with a tiny bit of juice in it hope she keeps it down. dont want to give her milk cos it came up like cottage cheese (sorry if tmi)

HappyMumof2 · 23/03/2006 18:28

do her hands and feet feel cold or are they just blue?

How is she in herself, is she focusing on you/responsive?

dd's hands and feet were cold when she had menengitis and when she had a temp and cold hands and feet again last week I took her to A & E. They were very good and said they completely understood why I had done so (was actually a throat infection & conjunctivitis)

starshaker · 23/03/2006 19:16

shes still being sick and seems in pain cos nothing was coming up. her hands and feet were just blue not cold. just put her to bed and am worried shes sick and im not there

my dd is just recovering after a sickness bug. Started being sick andbrought up everything even water for about day and half. Only started eating a bit on day 4 and couldn't walk because her legs were so weak until day 6. Her hand were blue/purple and not particularly cold - so i think it may be part of the virus going roujd. Her hands are prone to that colour when she's cold but like yours she wasn't cold in the house but still the blue hands came and went. Hope she's ok.

Chapsmum · 23/03/2006 20:03

Blueness wihout the cold, could signify that perhaps she has a wee chest infection, Am glad the dr is comming out to have a look at her, hope things are ok.

Chapsmum · 23/03/2006 20:03

how old is she?

starshaker · 23/03/2006 22:08
