SPD after birth??

24hFullTimeMummy · 15/09/2012 09:17

Hi all I've had SPD with my middle child in pregnancy but went soon after birth, but with my 3rd child it hasn't gone, I've recently just started my periods again after 5 months (im breastfeeding) and my SPD has come back is there any help/ cure???
Has anyone else got it and how do you deal with it?
It's really bad when I'm on my period and I can't exercise (shame, good excuse eh!) but seriously it's painful to walk the kids to school!
Please anyone out there that can help?????

Theres quite a few people on here who still have SPD. You sound similar to me , mine improved slowly and and dd3 was about 18 months by the time I wasn't getting daily pain ( only when I over did it, which wasn't that much).

Have reported the thread btw to get it moved as you're in webchats!

I was the same - i still get aches when my period is due, nearly three years on. Sorry, y ou probably didn't want to hear that.

Ask you GP to refer you for physio.

Hi there, we've moved this out of MN Webchats and into General Health, thanks.

Yes I did. For ages. Now 2.5 years later has finally gone. I did a lot of bodywork - 10 sessions of rolfing and daily yoga. It's now gone completely.

Thank you so do you think yoga and go to my GP for a physio?
Its just strange that it's come back now 5months later when my periods restarted? I guess it's all to do with the hormones that send off oxytocin that relax the ligaments which is why I feel it more then?

Have you tried an osteopath? My spd was gradually getting worse again after I gave birth and the heavier ds got the more pain I was in. Saw an osteopath who specialised in pregnancy and women's health and it was gone after 3 sessions. Worth a trÅ·.
