Decent deodorant for smelly BO!

I've started back at work after maternity leave and think my hormones are a bit all over the place.

I've always had a lot more sweat under my arms than most and it has always smelt too (i can smell it but other people never have) but I noticed this week it was worse. I think it is 'anxious' sweat as i haven't had sweat like this since before dd!

Anyhow, before I go and spend lots of money trying different deodorants, does anyone have any recommendations? Currently using Nivea roll on and would prefer roll on's over spray.

Mitchum is grand... The dry stick (roll on) I find breaks maybe I am too rough? But the wetter traditional roll on brill! Takes an age to dry BUT no white marks or smells!!!!

Ambrosius · 19/08/2012 21:28

Mitchum roll on, its the nuts :)

DevaDiva · 19/08/2012 21:30

Mitchum for me for the last 12 months sweat glands have been on overtime for some reason Hmm

PacificDogwood · 19/08/2012 21:32

Anhydrol or Driclor - both are aluminium based and not everybody likes the idea of that, but they were the only thing that worked for me.
You can get them on prescription, they last ages, I now only need them once every fortnight or so (use any random deodorant inbetween), but: they can make your skin itch and rashy after a while Sad.

HeyMicky · 19/08/2012 21:32

Perspirex at night. Stops the sweating. Then Sure 48 hour cream - inpenetrable

PacificDogwood · 19/08/2012 21:33

Oh, some dermatology clinics will do botox injection to underarms to prevent sweating, even on the NHS - ask for treatment for 'axillary hyperhidrosis'

dearprudence · 19/08/2012 21:39

Mitchum is brilliant. I've found when used every day for long periods it can be a bit drying, but it's very effective.

awaywego1 · 19/08/2012 22:51

Another mitchum fan here-although I prefer the stick to the roll on Smile

Twinkletoes91 · 20/08/2012 21:47

Where do you get Mitchum from? Is it on prescription?

pettyprudence · 20/08/2012 21:54

Mitchum 48hr roll on - available in most supermarkets/boots/superdrug etc.... Amazing stuff!

bonzo77 · 20/08/2012 21:55

mitchum in pale green packaging: spray, stick and roll on. Available in most chemists and supermarkets, definitely Boots and Sainsburys. Was 2 for £4 at boots last week, might still be. Definitely the best deodorant.

GodisaDj · 20/08/2012 22:19

Thanks all, will be purchasing some mitchum tomorrow me thinks!

I wondered if the new Sure one would be recommended, it's advertised for 'sweaty' people but it's like £5 so I guess people haven't tried it.

I use Mitchum too! Powder Fresh one smells like baby powder Smile

Its quite expensive so I stock up when they're on special.

Ambi · 20/08/2012 22:40

Mitchum powder fresh £1.50 in bodycare. I've converted DH to the mens version who agrees it's the best.

IrishMammie · 21/08/2012 10:53

Yet another Mitchum user here... I find the spray very effective

Twinkletoes91 · 21/08/2012 20:01

Went to boots before and they still have the 2 for £4 offer so stocked up :)

bumhead · 22/08/2012 19:04

I would always have said Mitchum but they changed the formula a while back and now it isn't as good.
I've tried the spray, roll on and also the stick but they just aren't what they used to be :(
I was hoping someone would recommend something else.
Also tried the Driclor and Perpirex and OW OW OW they burned but I bet they're great if you can get past that stage. Not managed it yet though

Wolfiefan · 22/08/2012 19:06

Sure 24 hr. Even Mitchum doesn't counter my glow (a lady never sweats she glows!)

TherapeuticVino · 22/08/2012 19:11

Another one for Perspirex at night - I was a sweat monster and now only have to use it twice a week. Brilliant.

laneb · 24/08/2012 22:44

Perspirex and rest of aluminium deodorants make my underarm itchy. I'm using natural crystal deodorant ( it doesn't stop me from sweating though) and Nonchalante underarm pads

marriednotdead · 24/08/2012 23:05

Mitchum spray in Waterlily (lilac tin) the pink one is too sickly for me.

Nothing else previously stopped my soggy pits.

bronze · 24/08/2012 23:08

I gave up on Mitchum too. The recipe change my explain that
I bought a longer term one on recommendation of mumsnet and it's changed my life
It's called triple dry I think

brighthair · 25/08/2012 01:26

Sure or Dove, the max cream version (about £5)
Works best if you put it on at night

bumhead · 25/08/2012 13:35

bronze does Triple Dry itch etc at first like Perspirex does?

bookbird · 25/08/2012 13:39

I've been using the new Sure 48 hour cream for the last month. I put it on at night and am never damp anymore.

The £5 price tag does make my eyes water, but no denying it works. Just how good is this Mitchum stuff?
