. . . totally OT, but my climbing harness has been sitting in a box in a dry, cool cupboard for 4 years. I know in my heart of hearts I wouldn't risk a lead fall on it, but I wonder if it'd still be good to toprope. Will have to get on some sites and ask.

Does Ratho make you provide your own lead ropes? A lot of places do b/c of liability issues.

I wanna gooooooo . . .

docincognito · 28/02/2006 21:41

don't get me started on trousers! I bought a pair of jeans last weekend, only to discover that they are the exact same size as dh's. They are going back to the shop!!

Flossam · 28/02/2006 21:43

Visited sainsburies today. Diet starts tomorrow. I'm on second glass of wine (well actually about to start third!) and have just polished off a box (aherm) of sainsburies champagne truffles which I got for 2 quid reduced today!!!

I'm feeling REALLY sad and fat since having DD2. I have gone up a jean size, and so I've been putting off buying until I'm back walking to and from work in hopes it will shift.

I desperately want those wonder trainers that apparently help you tone up the thighs and stomach even more, but they're £129 and I just cannot justify it.

I think I might just rely on putting rocks in my rucksack . . .

chapsmum · 28/02/2006 21:46

flossam cant belive you didn't offer me one, oh by the way did davinas dvd, it was fab, thanks for the advice!

I'd love to say my truffles were reduced, but sadly I paid full price for them. Bought them for my secretary for Christmas, then she told me about her diet.....had to nip out quick and get her something else!

Flossam · 28/02/2006 21:46

CM, I go through stages with mine. After a shower in the morning I think, arrh, they aren't that bad. Could be worse. Then other times I look and think, good god I used to moan about these before because they were too small. Now they are back to original size, but sagging and with stretchmarks aplenty. Shock

I reckon you want to BF a couple of times a day extra in the run up, not so much that you have to wear a pad, but enough that you might be a little fuller than normal for full on 16yr old effect.

chapsmum · 28/02/2006 21:48

spinfit, its the only way forward, running has bu**ered my kness, but spinfit its the exercise of choice, great results very quickly, but then I am a mountain biker by nature. I to have fallen into the gain a jean size club,,my wedding dress is one size to small must loose weight by june....

Flossam · 28/02/2006 21:49

you have had truffles in the house since xmas? respect!!! Grin

expatinscotland · 28/02/2006 21:50

I can't really boulder anymore b/c I can't jump off the problems - not only is the left knee kind of trashed, but I also broke my tailbone in the past (ER doc laughed his ass off when I said, 'I busted my ass to get seen in this place!') and it still mega hurts when I jump too hard.

But low traverses are fun and good for the head when you have to take on the real stuff on a long route and you're all run out and sketchin'.

Best route I've ever done: J Crack in Lumpy Ridge, Rocky Mountain National Park. That thing was better than sex I swear.

chapsmum · 28/02/2006 21:51

did you have a wee look at the ratho website expat? its pretty huge!

die + t = diet.

Oh, god, my ex was a mtn biker. And climber. And just one of those kick ass people who can get up off hte couch and go from zero to hard core in about 10 seconds. Made me sick :o.

expatinscotland · 28/02/2006 21:54

Ratho. Climbing can be better than sex, you know. :o

Now I need a partner . . . could go and put up a card: Tourist/poser and former belay slave who mended her ways seeks non-poser for sissy gym climbing and clip-ups. NO GriGris allowed!

I hate those damn things! I had this sport boy for a boyfriend once and I swear he'd hang off that f*cking GriGri half the day on his projects.

chapsmum · 28/02/2006 21:55

there is some fab biking in scotland but you have to be motivated when I was out at the weekend it was snowing!! actual snow, was tempted to put snow chains on my bike tyres!

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 28/02/2006 21:56

That's what you get for being on a bike! :o

chapsmum · 28/02/2006 21:57

Sorry, do you have some kind of foriegn language in common??!! Grin

expatinscotland · 28/02/2006 22:03

I've seen those auto thingies! Cavers use 'em. I wouldn't want to use that GriGri to abseil, tho, b/c from experience, it kinks up the rope to all hell even just belaying! I mean, it's almost as bad as a Munter hitch. We used to laugh at those, and then one day, out in the desert, the inevitable happened to all those who dare to laugh in climbing courses when they have to practice Munter hithes and other saftey knots: we lost out ATCs! Shock

And we had to use the Munter hitch to descend.

Got our little monkeys spanked good and proper.

chapsmum · 28/02/2006 22:13

NO ATC'S Shock!!

no gri gri in this house, but i do enjoy a cariac arrest...geddit?

had to tie a prussic with numb fingers mid traverse mid race once, hought i was in touching the void!!!

we know th mh as an italian, thata aweir phrase..

Flossam, do will interpred for the non climber should you want at transcript!
